We had a great weekend at the Shorewood Meet, even if with the Packer loss. Many of our swimmers got best times and a few were even heat winners! Everyone swam their hardest! As many of you know we have been working on IM all week and I can already see lots of improvement. Next week we will break down breast stroke and butterfly, as those are the strokes that are the hardest not to get DQ'ed in because they are so complex. Hopefully with more practice we can become stronger in these strokes. With all of the swim meets coming up this month and in the next don’t forget to check the EBSC website for your swimmers events and if you have anything special you'd like to note about the meet you can do that on the website as well. Our next swim meet is hosted by the MENOMONEE FALLS SWIM CLUB, but will be held at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, 9240 N. Green Bay Rd., Brown Deer, Wisconsin. Warm Ups Start at 8:00am so let’s make sure that our swimmers are there by 7:45 am to ensure that everyone gets the same warm up opportunities. If you at any point are running late or have a question feel free to text me. As always, see you at the pool! Coach Lauren PH: (920)960-5414 EMAIL: [email protected] NOVICE 1 UPDATE: Coach Kristen Malloy WOW!!! Novice 1 rocked the Shorewood meet this past weekend! The 11 swimmers who competed posted 52 best times!!! The swimmers with the most were Jillian Seibert, Luke Dinusson-Wiger, and Sully Neumeier with 7 best times. The swimmers with 6 best times were Ayushi Chandel and Baleigh Miller. Those with 5 best times were Bella Brueggeman and Maddy Karun. The swimmer with 3 best times was Salik Ahmed. Finally, those with 2 best time were Tatum Honkamp, Eliza Malnar, and Evan Prescott. This weekend we have the Menomonee Falls swim meet. It is at Schroeder Aquatic Center. Please be at the meet 15 minutes before the warm-ups are scheduled to begin. If you cannot attend the meet or will be arriving late, please let Coach Rose or myself know. You can contact me by e-mail at [email protected] or text me at 262-424-5411. Finally, you are still able to enter your swimmer in the Regional meet. Remember, this meet is the final meet of the season, so it will be the last chance for kids to get best times. After seeing our amazing swims this weekend, I am even more convinced that everyone should try to sign up for at least one session of the Regional meet. Please let me know as soon as possible. Last weekend we were at Shorewood for a long meet! We had 103 best times out of 175 swims for a 59% best time performance. We added 13 new short course state time standards and now have 18 swimmers qualified in 141 events. We now have 91 events we can swim at the State meet. New state cuts were earned by: Sophia Brueggeman (200 free, 50 breast), Anya Brueggeman (100 and 200 free), Kamryn Dembny (50 free, 100 and 200 IM), Grace Hou (200 fly), Cynthia Lu (100 back), Maggie Wanezek (500free), Mia Teng (50 breast), Thomas Bergin (50 free) and Aarav Barde earned his first state cut in the 50 fly - unfortunately he turns 13 just before the state meet :-( Best times were earned by: Aarav Barde (2),Thomas Bergin (5), Anya Brueggeman (4), Sophia Brueggeman (4), Sophia Cram (1), Kamryn Dembny (5), Callie Gregg (2), Sophie Hanson (6), Mia Hayward (3), Jennifer Hong (3), Grace Hou (3), Maggie Johnson (3), Ella Kelsey (4), Maya Kelsey (3), Nate Klitzke (6), Cynthia Lu (3), Audrey Olen (4), Thevindu Perera (2), Ahbinay Reddy (7), Stuart Seymour (5), Zayda Stephens (3), Jack Stich (4), Owen Tan (2). Mia Teng (7), Reese Tiltmann (2), Maria Vella (4), and Maggie Wanezek (3). This week we compete at the Schroeder Aquatic Center for the Menomonee Falls meet, which will be nice. Please arrive 15 minutes before your swimmers scheduled warm-up time. Event entries and timeline has been emailed to you. Next week we have much of the state team competing at the Schroeder A+ meets which is one of the best meets in the Midwest feature top swimmers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. Families involved have received the meet page and psych sheet. All other meet entries except for state have been entered in the system. Let me know if there are changes I need to make. If your swimmer has a full event list for state (6 or more events) I did not enter them in the regional meet unless requested. PRACTICE: Have been going great! Lots of fast hard swimming at every level of the age group team. The gang is really working hard and doing these that amaze me everyday! CONTACT: email - [email protected], test -262-352-9602 -- SENIOR 3 & 4 UPDATE: Coach Laren Tiltmann We head to the Ozaukee Aquatics meet this weekend (Sunday), details of which can be found in the gator. Congrats to the swimmers who swam at the Shorewood meet. Once again, senior 3/4 was well represented in the 400 IM and 500 freestyle. Regionals meet entries are online for your review. Please make sure you get back to me if there are any changes you would like to make. A+ meet information is being circulated to those families with swimmers who have qualified for the meet. Please check your email for this information. I have had a few questions about summer planning, and I thought I’d share a few ideas. Missing entire weeks of the summer can be very impactful on the swimmer’s training progression. Each week we load different energy systems a little more as we attempt to make the swimmer’s body adapt to the training stimulus. When a full week of training is missed, the training adaption is lost, and the swimmer returns, essentially having regressed. However, I do live in the real world and realize families take vacations. As a result, I suggest the three following ideas: 1. Take longer vacations before school ends (pre June) 2. During the summer outdoor period, take long weekends as opposed to full weeks away (June through end of July) 3. Save that long, or extra-long vacation for the month of August when the swim season is in recess (August through early September). I hope this helps. Our push to the end of the season has begun. We continue to work on smaller details which make big impacts in races. Training loads will also peak in the next two weeks. Get to practice when you are healthy. Some really tough bugs have circulated and have taken swimmers out of practices for extended periods. See you on the pool deck. Coach Laren (262) 408-8443 [email protected] SENIOR 1-2 UPDATE: Coach Brent Boock Attendance I read the following quote the other day. Sadly, I did not write down either the quote or author.
