Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Ma’ale Gilboa, Israel.
Rav Bigman is a frequent lecturer in Israel and
North America and is particularly well-known for his
novel approaches to Talmud study.
On Shabbat afternoon we are holding a joint event with
Shomrei Hadath at Burrard Road:
5.45pm: Mincha. 6.15pm: Shiur by Rav Bigman on his
approach to Talmud and the meaning it has for prayer
followed by ma’ariv at the close of Shabbat at 7.11pm.

Nietzsche & Rabbi Soloveitchik.
with Rabbi Dr. Michael Harris.
Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik was the leading Modern
Orthodox thinker of the second half of the twentieth
century. The famous 19th century philosopher Friedrich
Nietzsche, one of the most important modern thinkers, was
a confirmed atheist. But some of their ideas are
particularly interesting to consider in tandem. We will
focus on their views on G-d, life-affirmation, the passions
and morality. No previous philosophical knowledge is
required.

will be giving a pre-Kiddush talk.
Larraine is a member of Hampstead
Synagogue. She has been a Councillor since 2010.
With her understanding for local issues she has
gained a particular insight into the wide ranging
needs of the community and has involved herself in
many volunteer and charitable activities. Join us for
a hot Kiddush after the service.
