Core Skills
Remember - reading must be done AT LEAST five times a week and other skills should be practised twice a week.

Read five times a week for 10 minutes or more, and then talk to someone about what you have read. Keep a record of what you are reading.

Learn your spellings and spelling rules.

Learn and practise your mental maths skills by playing a game taught to you by your teacher.
Go onto Mathletics and beat your score! Can you get a certificate?

Make some mince pies or other festive treats. Write a set of instructions on how to
make them. Don’t forget to bring them into share with us all!
Write a story set in a winter setting. Who will be the main character? What will they
learn along the way?
Write a persuasive letter to Father Christmas explaining why you should be taken off
the ‘naughty list’ and how well behaved you have been this year!
Write a poem about your favourite things at Christmas time. What poetry features
will you use?

Create an advent calendar where each door has a maths question to find the date.

Physical Development (PE)

Father Christmas has put on a few
pounds over the course of the year
and cannot fit into his red suit! Mrs
Claus refuses to let it out and tells
him he needs to lose weight! Help
devise a healthy rota of meals and
an exercise program to get Santa
back into shape!
Creativity (Art/DT/Music)
 Design or make a new sleigh for Father
Christmas. What features would it
have? Why would it have those
features? Are they useful?
 What will you see out of your
window? Create a winter landscape
you would like to see out of your
window.
