This editor had the good fortune of working in Orange County and considers Mr. Wenkart as a true educational hero. Mr. Wenkart’s presentation was detailed and targeted acceptable use policies, student monitoring, student searches, student discipline and additional resources. Mr. Wenkart always takes a position that puts educators on firm ground. CASCWA is indebted to Mr. Wenkart. Ms. Ashlie Bryant is a special human being. The topic of “Human Trafficking” is a terrible topic for our youth. After listening to her presentation, this editor firmly believes that every educator, parent, student, community member & civic leader in the United States of America would benefit from Ms. Bryant’s presentation. She the founder of 3Strands Global & they have teamed up with Frederick Douglas Family Initiatives & L ve Never Fails to make a difference in the lives of exploited youths. Ms. Bryant’s life work has true meaning for today’s youth and she is to be commended for delivering this message throughout the State of California. Make certain you visit their website! Mr. Joe Eberstein’s presentation, “The Evolving Drug Landscape – ONLINE” was in-depth and thought provoking! Joe is an exceptional speaker. His background and his expertise delivered significant information to all of the workshop attendees. Mr. Eberstein is also to be commended for his work on the SARB Board of the Grossmount Union High School District (State Model SARB Award recipient.) Joe’s presentation was comprehensive, focusing primarily on marijuana use and he listed several action items that can be done to combat this drug crisis and internet misuse. Unbelievable! Mr. Garcia’s knowledge of the internet and social media is astonishing! His presentation covered aspects of the internet that every educator and parent need to know. Salvador then showed our attendees an unbelievable number of social media sites that student’s use and many of us didn’t know even existed. His presentation confirmed the fact that the internet can be friend or foe! Thank you Salvador for an in depth presentation! He is a past CASCWA Southern Section and State President. He followed Dale Ely and Jack Erickson as the author of School Laws Relating to minors.
