Thank you for contributing to the collection for the Campaign for Human
Development (CCHD)! Your generous gifts will help CCHD break the cycle of
poverty in the United States through better education, improved housing, and
economic development. Through CCHD and its beneficiaries, we demonstrate
Catholic social teaching and carry out Jesus’ mission to “bring glad tidings to the
poor….to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind to let the
oppressed go free.” (Lk 4:18)
(Lc 4:18)
Q. Why change the place of the Second Collection during Mass?
A. It is less disruptive to the flow of liturgy to take up the
Second Collection immediately after the First Collection,
rather to interrupt private prayers of thanksgiving
following Communion.
You’re invited to a Cathedral Christmas
Celebration! Saturday, Dec. 3, 6:00pm, Bishops Hall;
dinner at 6:30pm; movie (The Fourth W ise Man) at 7:30pm.

Permanent Diaconate Ordination: Bishop Joe Vásquez ordained 17
men to the permanent diaconate through the sacrament of Holy Orders on
November 19, at St. William Parish, Round Rock. Permanent deacons serve the
Church in the three-fold ministry of word, liturgy and charity. They proclaim,
preach and teach the Gospel and serve at Mass; baptize infants and children
under 7 years of age; witness marriages, and conduct wake, funeral and
Communion services. In addition, deacons bring the presence of Christ to those
in need in homes, parishes, hospitals, jails, nursing homes and homeless shelters.
We pray for these men as they begin to live their new vocation in the Church.
