WHAT'S NEW IN 2013
A New Year and lots of new wines for Yelland and Papps. These wines have only just been released and are
only very small batches, especially the Sparkling Vermentino, so don't hesitate if it floats your boat and get in
quick. Our vineyard here on our property has enabled us to give our customers a very affordable cracker little
Cabernet. This is only coming off of 1 acre of vines, so it’s made in a very small batch.

These wines excite the hell out of us and we hope our customers to, we have thrown the rule book out
on a few traditional wine making ways to create something really different.
2011 SPARKLING VERMENTINO BATCH 2
New batch 2, Methode Traditionnelle, this has spent 15 months on yeast lees prior to
disgorgement, Only 30 dozen made and not much left
$35.00 per bottle or $378 per dozen
Pale straw in the glass with a bead of fine, energetic bubbles cascading to the surface
of the wine. Great clarity of aromas with bright, vibrant citrus fruits bursting out of the
glass. Aromas of lemon, lime and grapefruit mesh with notes of juicy pear, guava and
white peach to create a heady bouquet. Hints of lemon verbena, nougat, lemon curd,
clotted cream, almond paste appear along with lighter wafts of praline, lemon myrtle,
nectarine and feijoa.
A crisp, vibrant entry onto the palate with the wines effervescence perfectly balanced
with the primary fruit characters. Flavours of lemon, lime and grapefruit are
underscored by notes of white peach and guava. Lovely flow over the mid-palate where
flavours of lemon myrtle, clotted cream, nougat, creme fraiche and lanolin all come
into play. Lighter notes of marzipan, lemon verbena, feijoa and assorted stone-fruits
come into play on the back-palate as the wine finishes with great clarity and drive showing clean fruit
flavours, crisp acidity and good drive to the end. We are delighted with our 2011 Devote Sparkling
Vermentino, certainly refreshing over the warmer months but perfect all year round as an aperitif, with light
meat dishes or matched to all manner of seafood.
2011 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Coming off of our Estate vineyards this is a cracker little Cabernet for the price.
$16 per bottle or $170 per dozen
Vibrant garnet red in the glass with fruit aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and black
plum with higher tones of mulberry and a dash of cranberry. A complex bouquet with hints
of kirsch, cassis, baking spice, dutch licorice, dark chocolate, Barossa earth and fruit cake
along with well-judged, seasoned French oak playing a supporting role rather than
overpowering the rich, detailed fruit characters.
The wine shows beautiful flow as it enters the palate with a mouthfeel that shows plenty of
spaciousness and vibrant, savoury fruit characters. Fruit flavours of Cassis, blackberry,
blackcurrant and Satsuma plum are again highlighted by the redder tones of fragrant
mulberry and cranberry as the wine segues into the mid-palate. Here it shows complex
flavours of baking spice, “Old Jamaican” chocolate, red-brown earth, black strap licorice,
kirsch, tea-cake and beautifully integrated oak nuances that float in the background.
Supple and silky across the palate the 2011 Yelland & Papps Cabernet Sauvignon shows a
lovely savoury edge, fine, ripe sandy tannins and a velvety flow to the finish that is
wrapped up with bright acidity and lingering flavours of black fruits, spice and soft oak
nuance.

Tastings go for approximate 2 hours and are conducted the
first Friday of the month with 2 timeslots 10-12pm and 13pm

SPECIAL - 2011 DELIGHT GRENACHE ROSE
While the weather is warm take the opportunity to stock up on some great laying on the
lawn ROSE.
2012 is the last vintage of YP making a Rose, so get it while you can.
2011 Rose is drinking beautifully at the moment, this is a dry luscious wine.
