Georgia Studies Syllabus 2 nd Semester, 2016-17 Instructor Information Instructor Email Class Location & Hours Mrs. Harden [email protected] Room 819/ By Appointment General Information Description To explore the geography, history, and government of the state of Georgia Grade Weights Tests/Projects 45% Quizzes 30% Classwork 15% Homework 10% Absences IF a student is absent when an assignment is given, then the student will have the same number of days they were absent to make up the assignment, not counting the day they return (ex. Student is absent for 3 days, student will have 3 days to make up the assignment) IF an assignment is late, then the student may turn in assignment, but will lose a minimum of 5 points per day IF a student is absent it is up to the student to get make up work for the “daily work” folder which is stationed beside the door Grade Recovery* (updated 1/4/17) The purpose of this is to give the student an additional opportunity to show that he/she has mastered the standards of unit. This will only be permitted on tests. This is a privilege, not a right; therefore, this is at the discretion of the teacher. The following rules apply: 1. 2. 3. In order to be eligible to re-test, the student must have completed all unit assignments prior to the original test date Student MUST get parent to sign the original test AND make test corrections in COMPLETE sentences with the correct answer on a separate sheet stapled to the original test. * The highest the new grade can be is an 80/B (Any grade over 80 is entered as 80 & any grade lower than 80 is entered as that grade) Course Materials Required Materials Students will be creating an interactive notebook for this course, so the following materials will be required: 2 subject spiral notebook OR 2 Composition Notebook Page 1 Pen Pencil (with an eraser) Colored Markers, Pencils, or Crayons Glue, Tape, Scissors (optional) Required Text As of right now there is not a required text because there are not enough books to send home with each student. All information will be in your interactive notebook and available on my website.
