SPARKLING WINES CONTINUED Prosecco Cartizze Superiore Col Vetoraz, Valdobbiadene, Vento, Italy On the nose the wine is intense and delicate of mature fruits and flowers; while the taste is silky, full and aromatic. ‘Valsera’ Malvasia Dolce di Castelnuovo Don Bosco Terredavino, Piedmont, Italy Very light cherry pink colour. Its bouquet is distinctive, releasing delicious scents of raspberry and blackberry. Palate is crisp and lightly sweet, with a lingering mousse. CHAMPAGNE Brut Imperiale Piccolo (18.75cl) Brut Imperiale Moet et Chandon The Brut imperial is a balanced assemblage of the three grape varieties disclosing a succession of elegant and harmonious sensations, a fresh maturity, supple and refined lines, inspiring well-being and an emotion, which is to be appreciated and shared. Brut Reserve Nicolas Feuillatte Pale yellow with silver tinges, brilliant and crystal clear revealing a persistent ribbon of delicate bubbles. Initially restrained, fresh white fruit aromas of apple, pear and peach intermingle with curry and turmeric spices. As the bouquet becomes more expressive, ripe fruit notes jostle for position. Clean on the attack, elegant and complex, a delicate bead imparts freshness on the finish. Brut Rose’ Nicolas Feuillatte Silver-tinged salmon-pink, with a steady ribbon of fine bubbles. Red fruit aromas. Intense, developing notes of blueberry, blackcurrant and raspberry. Delicate on the palate, fluid, underpinned by an extremely fine bead. Fruity finish. Dom Perignon Moet et Chandon The Bouquet spirals through a light-filled, floral softness to the gritty minerality, evocative of candied fruit, plant life and exquisite camphor leaf freshness, and finally plunges into darkness, spices and liquorice root. On the palate, the wine still has a physical presence. It is striking and demanding, tactile and vibrant rather than aromatic After an initial cloud of softness, we hit a mineralised verticality that gradually opens out to suggest bitter, iodised and saline nobility. DESSERT WINES MALTESE ISLANDS Gran Vin de Hauteville Moscato (50cl) Delicata, Malta A deliciously golden sweet liqueur wine made from concentrated home-grown Moscato grapes. This rich, opulent wine has a lovely honeyed nose with a wonderful, marmalade flavour. Guze’ Passito (50cl) Marsovin, Malta Guze passito is a naturally sweet, intense and complex red wine produced from partially raisined, locally grown Shiraz grapes. Guze is reminiscent of intense black fruit, chocolate aromas with sweet, spicy, jammy prune flavours. ITALY ‘Nivole’ Moscato d’ Asti (37.5cl) ‘Nivole’ Moscato d’ Asti Michele Chiarlo, Piedmont The colour of this wine is deep yellow; the aroma is fruity and lingering, reminiscent of acacia flowers. In the mouth it is aromatic, entirely matching the taste of the grape. ‘La Gatta’ Moscato d’ Asti Terredavino, Piedmont Straw yellow or golden colour with green reflections. Characteristic, fragrant with hints of fresh fruits. Taste is sweet, soft, gentle, good persistence, with an inviting aroma. ‘Rosa Regale’ Brachetto d’ Acqui Banfi, Piemonte Lively pink mousse with a persistent perlage. Intense, aromatic with a hint of roses. Soft and elegant with berry flavours and a hint of almond and nutmeg. Torgiano Vin Santo Lungarotti, Umbria An amber-coloured passito wine with warm golden reflections, intense aromatic notes that recall apricots, dried figs and white jam with hints of honey and yellow flowers on the finish. The flavour presents a balanced sugar concentration with slight citrus-like acidity and intense fruity notes; it has lingering notes on the finish, with refined sweetness. FRANCE Chateau Saint Yves 1ers Cotes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux This wine has a golden yellow colour and displays floral notes of acacia, honey and hazelnut. There is a perfect balance between freshness and richness. OUR PRIVATE CELLAR VINTAGE Gran Maitre “Fra Jean Parisot del La Valette” 2003 Marsovin Ghajn Rihana Estate, Malta A Clear, narrow pale ruby rim, (hint of garnet), deep ruby core. Developing aromas of mineral, earthy, tar, creamy, sweet spice nuances of oak, vanilla, cinnamon, kernel: nutty, almondy, coffee, black fruit: prunes and plums. Palate is dry, medium acidity, medium level of tannins of a soft and ripe nature, medium body, well integrated warming alcohol, soft juicy fruit and complexities of oak, leather, juniper berries and nutmeg. Gran Maitre “Fra Alof de Wignacourt” 2008 Marsovin Ghajn Rihana Estate, Malta The 2008 vintage, contrary to the previous year, was characterised by relatively cooler winter temperatures and exceptionally wet weather with the January precipitation reaching a record 230.5mm. These conditions resulted in an average yield of deeply coloured small berries, which produced a wellstructured and very concentrated full bodied wine characterised by its typical intense fruity bouquet and velvety smooth tannins. Chateau Leoville Barton 2000 2eme Grand Cru Classe’, Saint Julien, Bordeaux The sun has left its mark on this vintage, setting off aromas like sparks: all sorts of floral, balsamic and spicy smells, each more precise and expressive than the last. In the palate, the full, plump, dense body leaves us with an impression of tenderness, of generosity. A harmonious, complex and wellstructured wine with a lingering, supple finish. Chateau Lascombes 2005 2eme Cru Classe’, Margaux, Bordeaux Combining power and elegance and an unctuous and tannin-rich texture, Château Lascombes is a complex wine. In its youth, it always has an amazingly deep colour. On the palate, finesse and a rich texture combine with very stylish fine-grained tannins. Chateau Palmer 2006 3eme Cru Classe’, Margaux, Bordeaux Nicely intense purple colour. Vigorous nose of red fruits and blackberries, wood, mint, stone fruits, tobacco, moss and violet. Still very young, the palate indicates lovely fruits, tight palpable tannins, heaps of freshness and solid length. The material is there for this classic vintage Palmer to become the epitome of elegance itself. Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe’, Pauillac, Bordeaux The dense purple-hued 2005 is still tannic, firm and young, with concentrated blackberry and cassis fruit, beautiful ripeness, a full-bodied mouth feel and undeniable youthfulness. 2005 OUR PRIVATE CELLAR CONTINUED VINTAGE Chateau Lynch Bages 2007 5eme Cru Classe’, Pauillac, Bordeaux The wine rhymes with balance and subtlety. On the nose, the freshness of the fruit stands out, finding subtle harmony with the wood. On the palate, it is rounded, smooth and mellowed. The tannins are silky and very ripe. The dazzling finish oozes with great class and is astonishingly long. Chateau Angelus 2009 1er Grand Cru Classe’ A, Saint Emilion, Bordeaux Ch. Angélus’s 2009 is an extremely elegant wine with a lifted, floral hint to the nose and dense, pure, concentrated liquid raspberry fruit on the palate. Very fine, silky tannins add to the smooth, round mouth feel, all completed by a long, sweet finish. Chateau Canon 2007 1er Grand Cru Classe’, Saint Emilion, Bordeaux Natural berry fruit aromas. Medium weight. Supple on attack with mid-palate sweetness and supple texture. Has freshness on the finish. Lacks some intensity but a fine, harmonious wine. Opus One 2010 Oakville AVA, Napa Valley, California Aromas of blackberry, rose petals, chocolate and espresso accentuate fruity and earthy nuances. Round velvety tannins enrobe a silky texture with a touch of minerality. The flavours of dark fruit are enhanced by the wellintegrated acidity.
