What does tolerance mean to me
For me, tolerance is a big word. So big, that I actually should have written it with a capital letter. It simply means to be able to look at someone who is different from you and accept
them for whom they are.
Personally, I consider myself as a tolerant person, so I must agree. Nevertheless I would
like to add something to the definition. Tolerance and approving are not the same things.
For example, I certainly do tolerate that refugees from Syria want to live in our country or
at least cross the borders. But it does not mean that I approve them leaving their children and
wives alone, surrounded by war.
Also, tolerance does not include keeping fair and objective attitude toward the ones
who are bad people – criminals and people hurting others.
The point is, if I am tolerant, I do not judge you looking at your origin, sexual preferences, beliefs. I do not care whether you are jewish or catholic, straight or gay and – like in Michael Jackson’s song – black or white. The only things about you that matter, are what kind of
person you are, what you say, what you do. And most important – do you make this world a
better place?

Tolerance – what does it mean to me?
In every dictionary it is written that tolerance is an aware agreement for announcing
different points of view by people with other customs than ours. We do not always admire
or accept other's belief but we respect and tolerate them.
I think that tolerance is something more than that. Many disagreements are the
effects of not having an acceptance for other behaviors, cultures, religions or races than ours.
Everybody knows that all human beings are not the same. We like different types of music,
wear different clothes. Our looks and characters are unique too. That is what makes the
world beautiful – our differences. But not everybody can see it. What would the world be like
if we were all the same?
People have to tolerate others and remember that we are only humans. We can
decide about ourselves. We are free and we should not make someone else to feel worse
than we do. We are all equal.
Tolerance is very important to me and I think it is also very precious to the world. I am
glad that every year people get more interested and convinced about it.
In my opinion each person on the Earth should respect other men and let them
express themselves the way they want.
