2016 GRAND CIRCLE CARAVAN
We started our adventure with a get acquainted get together
at the Pueblo, Colorado Fairgrounds on September 30. On
October 1 we headed out for our first stop in Salt Fork,
Colorado just a few miles short of Wolf Creek Pass. The
scenery was already beautiful on this short drive. The next
day we moved on to Ancient Cedars RV Resort, directly
across from Mesa Verde.
We looked out of our
units to see Grand Mesa
Ridge. Our tour guide
at Mesa Verde was a
retired school principal
and
was
extremely
knowledgeable.
Due to restoration projects on Cliff Palace we had a
substitution of Sun Balcony for our cliff dwellings exploration.
This was more strenuous than Cliff Palace would have been.
We were told that in order to enter we would climb a tall
ladder and to exit we would have to crawl through a hole in
the rock that was about 18” wide and about 30” high and
about 3’ long and then
climb another tall ladder.
The NPS guide was a
rather large man and
some of us said if he can
get through it so can we.
About half of the group
backed out and went to
visit the museum while
the rest of us trudged
on. I must say it was very
interesting and amazing
to see how people lived
on the side of a cliff. The
exit hole did present a
few problems but we all
made it out.
The next day we took a tour bus to Silverton, Colorado.
The mountains were full of golden Aspen and beautiful
mountain streams. We scattered for lunch in Silverton and
then boarded the train for the return to Durango. We had
two cars reserved on the train. One was all glass, The Night
Sky, so you could see out and up, the other car had tables,
The Alamosa, that groups of two or four could sit at. We
were going to trade seats about half way but the group in
the Alamosa were having so much fun they wanted to stay.
They said The Night Sky was Duds Ville. It was very quiet in
The Night Sky and very loud in The Alamosa. The next day
was a free day and people went in all directions. Some went
hiking and biking and some went to visit towns in the area.
Everyone was saying how beautiful it was and how this was
God’s country.
From Mesa Verde we traveled on to Monument Valley. Again
the scenery was breathtaking. We had mountains and steep
grades but I was so happy our new Newmar has the 3 level
brake and Jerry didn’t start flying and then have to put on
the brake. We just traveled down at a decent speed. I never
even reached for the grab bar by the door. We arrived in
Monument Valley and stayed at Goulding’s Campground.
While we were there we took a 4x4 tour of the monuments
and our guide pointed out some of the monuments you see
in the old westerns. We were still saying this is God’s country.
We took on a definite change of scenery when we arrived
at Lake Powell. The first thing we did was go to Lower
Antelope Canyon and tour the slot canyon. We did this from
the opposite direction
of what we had done
it when we were there
many years ago. We
had three groups with
guides
who
would
point out and tell you
the names of some of
the formations in the
canyon. When the rain
comes the canyon floor
can change completely.
It can fill with about 6’
of sand and debris and
the guides have to go
down after the rain and
clean it all out so tours
can resume. There
were many spectacular
pictures taken on this
tour. The next day we
had a great boat tour
of the lake. Our captain
took us right up to 4 or 5
story high cliff walls, and
in places with gorgeous
rock formations. We
were again in awe at
the beauty of this country we live in. On our free day many
toured the Glen Canyon Dam that we passed over whenever
we went into the town of Page.
2016 GRAND CIRCLE CARAVAN (continued)
We moved on to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. On our
trip there we followed along the Vermillion Cliffs. We spent
a day at the Grand Canyon pulling into all the lookouts and
taking pictures. One of
the sites is called Angel
Rock. When we had
been here years before
it looked like an Angel
was carved out of the
middle of the rock. I
had read some time
back that part of the
rock had fallen away changing the look. You could take a
short hike and go out on top of the rock and when looking
down could see a tiny sliver of river that was actually the
Colorado River. We went to the lodge and watched the
sunset then had a delicious dinner there.
Our next adventure was Zion National Park. We were not
far from Zion where we stayed so many went there that
afternoon. The next day we had them go to view the sunrise
at Sunrise Point in Bryce. Again it was beautiful. We had a
buffet breakfast at the lodge and then spent the day going
to all the different lookouts to take pictures. It was cold and
windy so we didn’t stay long at any of the lookouts but it
was spectacular. The next day was a free day and we had
3 people, Mike & Beth Klingele and Randy Cain leave very
early in the morning to do a 5 mile hike up Angels Landing
at Zion. Parts of this hike they had a chain anchored to the
rock to hold on to as they crossed the top of a narrow fin
with shear drops on either side. Hats off to them. The rest
of the group went in all different directions. One group drove
to Bolder and at one point the road had shear drop offs on
both sides. Some visited Kodachrome Basin, or Escalante,
and others returned to Bryce and Zion but everyone was
amazed at the different landscapes than they had seen
before. That night the campground provided us with a dutch
oven and Jerry and I made an Apple Cobbler for everyone
over a charcoal fire as it was very windy and a wood fire was
a little difficult to sit around.
Our last stop was Moab. The first thing we did was to go
on the dinner cruise presented by Canyonlands by Night
and Day. We started the cruise up the Colorado River with
our guide pointing out different rock formations and what
appeared to be paintings (what is referred to as dessert
varnish) on the sheer cliffs. Some were funny, some really
looked like an Indian laying down, there was a fish on the
wall with his eye showing, our guide said it was a walleye,
just to name a few. As the darkness fell a huge spotlight
lighted up the canyon walls and the story of the Ute Indians
was told as we drifted back down the river. Everyone thought
this was the best part of the trip.
The last two days were
spent exploring Arches
National Park with its
many rock formations.
It is such a wonder
how a larger rock can
sit on top of a smaller
rock by just a tiny bit
and stay there for so
many years. There are so many different rock formations in
Arches it takes a whole day to see it all. Some of the group
spent the next day driving along the Colorado River we had
floated on to see the sheer walls and then took the LaSalle
Mountain loop road that brings you back out on the south
end of Moab. Some went to Dead Horse State Park where
many years ago wild horses were rounded up and blocked
into a canyon. When the drovers returned for them they all
had perished due to lack of water.
Our last night we had
dinner at Red Cliffs
Lodge. We had hors
d’oeuvres on the patio
watching the sunset
and then had a cowboy
steak dinner. I know
we had a great time
with everyone and we hope they all had a great time too.

2016 BALLOON FIESTA
The 2016 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was
fantastic. This year we had 50 coaches plus our co-hosts
couple in attendance. Our sites included unlimited access to
the balloon field. Every morning there is what is referred to as
the morning glow. Well before dawn a couple dozen crews or
so lay out their “envelopes” getting ready for the spectacular.
By 6:00 am these early birds have their balloon inflated
and standing tall. Once inflated they remain tethered to the
ground and every few seconds the pilot hits a special burner
that produces a bright flame that lights up the balloon for the
“Morning Glow”. Imagine several dozen of these big beautiful
balloons all lighting up at the same time all around you. What
a beautiful sight and you are right there, so close that you can
really feel the heat every time the flame is activated. Soon
there are hundreds of crews laying out their “envelopes” as
the balloonists call their balloons and go about the task of
filling the envelope using a large fan, then igniting the burner
to fill the balloon with hot air. Being down on the field gives
you an opportunity to assist one of the many crews getting
their balloon ready for flight. Being on the field as all this
activity is taking place is an experience you will never forget.
After the Morning Glow show that lasts more than thirty
minutes the American flag is airborne on a balloon while the
Star Spangled Banner played. Makes you proud to be an
American. By 7:00 am balloons all over the field began to
stand tall waiting on the officials, called zebras because of
the striped shirts they wear, to send them off into the cool
morning sky. Soon hundreds of balloons have been laid out
on the grass and in various stages of inflation waiting for their
signal to launch from one of the zebras. During the next 2
hours the sky was filled with over 550 balloons of various
shapes and sizes in every color of the rainbow. Not only are
there the traditional shaped hot air balloons we are used to
seeing but more than 150 special shaped balloons. Imagine
seeing the Wells Fargo stagecoach as a huge balloon, a giant
cow, a monstrous purple dragon, Darth Vader and the shapes
and characters goes on and on. If you have never seen more
than a few balloons at once the magnitude of the balloons in
Albuquerque will literally blow your mind. Photographs cannot
do this event justice – you need to see it in person.
In addition to seeing all of the balloons every morning
the group enjoyed a special presentation by balloonist Al
Lowenstein. He brought the whole works and set up the
basket and burners right in the middle of our group. Boy when
he fired them off we could really feel the heat. He explained
that all balloons have “N” numbers the same as airplanes
because they are considered aircraft. Foreign balloons may
have a different letter but all balloons will have a designation.
Several in our group had the experience of a lifetime. They
took a ride in one of the balloons. Many more of our group
was on hand to see them off as they soared off into the
clear blue Albuquerque sky. There is a special phenomenon
referred to as the “Albuquerque Box” and is why so many
balloonists come to Albuquerque to enjoy their sport. The box
is where the air currents at lower altitude tend to blow to the
south. Once the balloonist is a mile or so from the launch field
they increase their altitude a few hundred feet and to catch
higher winds currents that are blowing to the north. On our
final morning the box was working great and we all watched
in awe as hundreds of balloons were going one way and then
the other. Not only was the box going but there wasn’t a cloud in
the sky and the sun on the balloon gave us all some great photos.
If you didn’t come with us in 2016 do not fret. Every year
Newmar reserves 20 sites for the Balloon Fiesta for 5 nights.
In 2017 we have 20 sites already reserved but the days have
changed. Traditionally Newmar’s Special Event runs Friday
to Wednesday morning. But because of the International
dates in Sedalia, Missouri we have switched to Wednesday to
Sunday morning. The distance from Sedalia to Albuquerque
is about 880 miles and should be an easy 3 or 4 day drive.
See the February Konnection and the Klub website in early
February to registration for this Special Event.
We look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque at the
International Balloon Fiesta in 2017.

Directors of the Newmar Kountry Klub.
We also had an opportunity to join several groups at their preInternational rallies – we visited the full-timers twice up in Canon City
and the Colorado chapter near Colorado Springs at the Transwest
dealership. That was a delightful evening with the Transwest sales
staff hosting us with a cookout – what a great dealership to work with!
After the International, we attended the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
on the way home – what a great event that was! The Newmar
location is right on the edge of the launch field and is an easy
walk to the events and vendors. The balloons passed right over
our motor home and several landed in the parking lot behind us.
While we are talking about the Balloon Fiesta next year we
will size the event as we have in the past at about 20 units in
attendance. There is a slight overlap with the International
in Sedalia, so we will be attending the Balloon Fiesta during
the second week. That will allow several travel days after the
International for those that want to attend the Balloon Fiesta. The
second week of the festival is mostly dedicated to the special shape
balloons – there were several of those that launched in the first week
this year – believe us, they are spectacular! We wished we could
attend next year, also.
HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING
Bob & Bonnie Krieger (12508-L), International Directors
Linda Feece, Klub Coordinator
Well, the 2016 International rally is a wrap and we had a great
time! The Pueblo fairgrounds worked out pretty well for us – it was
a good fit for the size crowd that we had and; for this situation, we
were able to rent the entire fairgrounds for our event at a reasonable
price. That allowed us to have access to a large number of buildings
for our seminars and social events. One change we would definitely
make next time is to use the AG Palace for vendors and the Creative
Arts building for seminars – the acoustics just were not good in the
AG Palace for seminars.
A few interesting statistics for our rally – we ended up with 439
motor homes and fifth wheels – that included 429 NKK members
and guest units. We also 10 vendor units in attendance. Of those in
attendance, 165 were first timers with an additional 55 returning from
our first timers at the previous Lewisburg International Rally. Even
though the rally schedule was shortened by one day to allow 50 of our
attendees to leave in time to attend the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta,
we were able to schedule 64 seminars, and we had 26 vendors in
attendance. Tours went pretty well with some spectacular sites to be
seen in the surrounding areas. Last year at Lewisburg, we had 371
units in attendance – we had 439 units in Pueblo – that’s a growth
of 19% over last year! – Keep it up!
We also had some great special events scheduled around the
Pueblo International – the Lewis and Clark Caravan preceded the
International, and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and the Grand
Circle Caravan of some of our National parks were great successes
that were run after the International. We understand that some people
went on the Lewis and Clark, attended the International, and then
went on the Grand Circle Caravan or Balloon Fiesta – now, that’s
some serious eating there!
One thing we really enjoyed was following the various Facebook
pages for those travelling to Pueblo. You could see various groups
joining together as they made their way to Pueblo. There were some
excellent photos, videos, and stories of your travels across the US
and Canada. It made us jealous while we were working in Pueblo
several weeks before everyone arrived, but when you did arrive, we
had a great party!
Page 10
After the Balloon Fiesta, we dashed home to see what the damage
was from Hurricane Matthew – we were extremely lucky – we lost
power for about three days and lost a couple of large tree limbs.
When we travelled the next week to South Carolina, we saw major
flooding damage and many trees down. Our thoughts and prayers
go out to all of those affected by Hurricane Matthew.
We are going through the comments and suggestions that
were submitted on the survey forms. The comments were
overwhelmingly positive, but there were a few areas that need
working on – the first day of sign-ups for service did not go smoothly.
We have looked at our process and will make several improvements
next year. We will have much more detail in the next Konnection
about the survey results.
In retrospect, we knew that running a compressed rally would
put an added burden on our volunteers, Regional Directors and
M-A-L staff, but it all went pretty smoothly and that was due to
one primary reason – YOU! We were blown away by the excellent
work of our volunteers, many of whom were first timers! In all
areas of volunteering, you exceeded expectations. Whether it was
parking, registration, catering, stage, sound systems, etc., etc., etc.,
etc. The sound and lighting systems were very complex to run,
with video screens, special lighting and many special entertainment
requirements and microphone layouts. (Just loved the Disco Ball –
wish we could take that with us everywhere we go!)
A special thanks to the Newmar Exec’s for the continuing
excellent support for the Newmar Kountry Klub. It was great to
see them all in attendance and a pleasure working with Kevin Bogan,
the new President of the NKK Executive Board and Vice President of
Operations at Newmar. We also thank Newmar for sending about
40 service techs to take care of our units in Pueblo as well as
several from the Parts Dept. with many items on hand for our
purchase. They did a great job!
We are very sad to report that our Region 2 Directors, Frank and
Jan Hasman, are ending their 3 year appointment on January
1st and have decided not to seek reappointment. They have
provided excellent service to the Klub and all of us will be sad
to see them retire. In the Region 2 section of this issue and the
December Happenings, we will be advertising for new Region 2
Directors – Come on…Join the Team! We have a blast!
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
Another thing we tried to do this year was to get information
about the rally to you early – we published the Rally program on
our NKK website about two weeks before the rally and we tried
a new conferencing tool called Grupio. We were very pleased to
see that many of you embraced this new technology – the acceptance
of this new tool was overwhelming! It was very useful from our stand
point since we were able to issue alerts about last minute changes or
changes to the program instantly. It took a lot of work setting that tool
up, but it worked well for us – I think it is a sign that our grandchildren
have taught us well on the use of smart phone technology!
One last special note – When we try to put together a large event
such as this, as you can imagination, everything does not necessarily
go as planned. There are always problems that have to be resolved
after hours – whether it is with computer systems, printers, internet
access, credit card machine, late shipping and receiving of critical
items, and other system failures. There were several nights when
Linda worked until 9 or 10 pm at night to “catch up and keep up”.
There were early mornings when she had to start at 5 or 6 am to try
to respond to requests coming from her office back in Nappanee.
She never ceases to amaze us with her boundless energy, extreme
dedication, strong work ethic – Thank you Linda for all that you do
for the RD/MAL staff and our members!
Bonnie, Linda, and I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and
a prosperous and healthy New Year – spend time with your families
reflecting on the true meaning of the Season!
Best Wishes! Bob and Bonnie Krieger (12508L)

Memories are the key not to
the past, but to the future.
Corrie Ten Boom
As we reflect over the past
year, our memories actually
rebound…we relive them again.
We travelled many, many miles,
saw many, many sites, and met
many, many wonderful people.
It is one thing to enjoy childhood friends and those developed
through our church family and community. We are pleasantly
surprised to find the same enjoyable people all over the United
States and Canada. I guess most of our articles expound on
the friendships of the Newmar Kountry Klub. That is probably
because these relationships are one of the most rewarding
aspects of our position.
The 2016 International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado was
somewhat of a reunion for many attending. We are recognizing
more and more people…some we met many years ago and some
new this year. For those attending, it was once again a great
rally! It took many people and many hours to prepare. Thanks
to our International Directors, Bob & Bonnie Krieger, our Klub
Coordinator, Linda Feece, and all of the Region Directors, who
made the rally a truly enjoyable event. The Cowboy Church
service was enlightening, the seminars were educational, the
meals enjoyable, the entertainment exceptional, the Newmar
techs and suppliers were extraordinary and the new units on
display were exquisite.
We would be remiss if we did not mention the many
volunteers, fairgrounds staff and vendors who made all the
difference in the world. For many it was no easy task as the
time zone difference, altitude and low humidity presented
some challenges. But everyone persevered and enjoyed
themselves along the way. Hugs to all who gave their all!
Kountry Klub Board of Directors meeting in November, will host
the Rally in the Florida Keys in December, assist at the Tampa
Super Show in January and continue to host the Southwest
Florida Newmar Owners and Friends luncheon December through
March. There could be other rallies and luncheons in our plans
for the winter.
In our next article we’ll give you an overview of our travels in
2016…making memories along the way. And like Ms. Ten Boom
offered, our memories will be our bridge to the future. We hope
that you will be a part of our memories, if not in person, at least
through our articles, on Facebook or by email.

Our memories would be incomplete without the Newmar
Corporation! Their support and participation is greatly
appreciated. We welcome Kevin Bogan as the new President
of the Newmar Kountry Klub Board of Directors. Although he
has been involved and attended International Rallies for many
years, he is diligently working to grow his understanding of and
involvement in the Klub. Thanks to Matt Miller, Dick Parks, John
Sammut and Gary Shuder for attending and being available.
We were pleasantly surprised by the number who attended our
hosting a rally roundtable. Many had hosted rallies and were
there to learn more and share their successes. Several had never
hosted and were eager to learn the best process. We hope to
expand on this topic next year by sharing the tools we developed
hosting many rallies over the years. You can help us prepare by
sending us your tips and tools.
One would think our busy travel schedule would slow down a bit
for the winter, but we have many plans. We attended the Newmar

DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
FULLTIMERS CHAPTER
Evan and Debbie Hughes (19771)
Well here we are, staring at the
end of 2016 and looking into
2017 already. Where did the
year go? If you were like many,
you attended rallies and special
events across the country
and in your home state. If not,
then WE challenge you do so
in 2017. There are so many
wonderful places to visit in this
Country and Canada and your
Newmar RV is made for travel. Rallies are a great way to visit
areas you may never have been before and meet new friends
along the way.
We hope you were able to attend the International Rally in
Pueblo this past October, if not you missed an amazing event.
The weather was spectacular, the classes were educational,
the food was definitely a ‘10 pounder’, and the popcorn was
popping. We gave away 900 bags of popcorn and 45 gallons
of lemonade in only three days. A big shout of Thank You to
Steinbring Motorcoach of Garfield, Minnesota, for financing
the supplies for our booth. Don’t fret if you missed out this
year, there will be more bags of popcorn and lemonade in
Sedalia, Missouri in October of 2017!
Prior to the International Rally in Pueblo, the Fulltimers
Chapter celebrated our 26th year as a chapter of the
Newmar Kountry Klub. Our Rally in Cañon City, Colorado
was the largest in years and we arrived at International with
a caravan of 26 rigs. Our Chapter dinner surprised us all with
just over 100 attendees. During International we signed up 16
new members - wow. We heard that other chapters were also
very successful in growing their numbers. This is a great sign
for all of us.
We are already planning next year’s Fulltimer Rally, which is
scheduled for September 23-28th in Branson, Missouri and
plan to travel into International for more fun and friendship.
So mark your calendars, pull out a map, pack your rig, gather
your friends and plan a route. We welcome all to our rallies.
If you happen to be on the west coast or headed toward Arizona,
the Fulltimers Chapter and the Arizona Sun Catchers are
hosting a joint rally in Benson, Arizona, April 6-10. Everyone
is welcome, but it is filling up fast. Check out the “Calendar
of Events” for all the details and to register.
We have been honored to be the Presidents of the Fulltimers
Chapter this past year. Thanks to the ground work of our many
predecessors and the enthusiasm of our members, our chapter
is growing by leaps and bounds. Being a ‘Fulltimer’ means
different things to different members. Some of us travel all year
with no ‘home base’ wondering where the road leads. While
some of us have key locations we spend time. There is no hard
and fast rule of how to full-time, it is more of a mindset and a
love of adventure.

REGION 1 // AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, UT
Region Directors :: Marty & Marion Marcum (17221)
It is hard to believe that 2016
is nearly over and 2017 is fast
approaching. The past couple
of months were very busy
for us. We were in Pueblo
for nearly three weeks with
the International Rally where
Region 1 had the responsibility
of parking and registration.
Region 3 worked closely with our
volunteers so that they will be ready for parking and registration
in Sedalia, Missouri next year. There were nearly 450 coaches in
Pueblo and the parking volunteers parked almost 350 of them
in one day. They worked like a well-oiled machine as the saying
goes. That means that the ladies in registration registered all of
them too. What a great group of volunteers we had from both
Regions. BIG thanks to every one of them!
We left the International a day early along with our co-host for
the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta where we hosted 50 coaches.
The weather was nearly perfect with the exception of one day
that the wind blew hard enough that no balloons were able to
launch. Anything over 10 mph keeps the balloons on the ground
for safety. Our last morning was picture perfect and I do mean
picture perfect. Look at the photos that anyone took on our last
morning and you will see what I mean. If you didn’t get in this
year we have 20 sites reserved already for 2017.
Following the Balloon Fiesta we headed to Moab, Utah for the
Nevada State Rally. One of the highlights was the Canyonlands
by Night dinner cruise that our host George & Cheryl Zellers
arranged for the group. Several in the group opted for an
optional Hummer tour. Try to imagine being in the Hummer as
it backs up a 200 foot 45+ degree rock face! That really got our
blood pumping. After Moab several of us headed to Monument
Valley for one night before winding up at the no-host rally on the
south rim of the Grand Canyon. We had two days to take in the
inspiring scenery of the Grand Canyon. Makes one feel pretty
insignificant. The final rally of 2016 was the Arizona State Rally
in Camp Verde, Arizona. Highlights of the rally included a trip
on the Verde Canyon Railroad and an evening at the Blazin M
Chuckwagon dinner show.
Rather than go into details of all the rallies scheduled for the first
half of 2017 I suggest that you go to the Konnection online and
open the Region 1 calendar to see all the rallies, breakfasts and
luncheons scheduled. The Region 1 Rally will be in Hemet,
California from May 4-8 at the Golden Village Palms RV
Village. The rally fee is $55 for 2 people and $40 for a single
or extra person and does not include the SoCal package or RV
site. The rally fee includes Sunday night potluck dinner with
chicken provided, 2 continental breakfasts, local museum and
coffee mugs for all in attendance. We are using the Taste of
Southern California Package that the resort has put together
plus Thursday and Sunday nights. The SoCal package includes
Page 14
Friday and Saturday nights RV site, Friday night reception with
live music and nacho bar, Saturday morning continental breakfast,
tickets to the Ramona pageant, transportation to and from the
pageant, a catered dinner Saturday night and Sunday morning
continental breakfast. You will need to call the resort direct at
866-477-6154 and let them know you are with the Newmar
group and want to register for the Taste of Southern California
plus Thursday night May 4 and Sunday May 7. The cost is $265
for the Taste of SoCal package plus Thursday and Sunday nights
RV site. The highlight of the rally will be the trip to the Ramona
Pageant which has been performed annually since 1923 and is
the oldest continuously running outdoor play in the United States.
The play is based on the 1884 novel by Helen Hunt Jackson about
Ramona and her Indian lover Alessandro. The play takes place
in a large outdoor amphitheater with a cast of more than 300. It
really is spectacular to see.
We are going to miss the first rally of 2017 as well as the Gathering
in the Desert again unless Marion’s surgery gets moved up about
a month. Marion is scheduled to have her other knee replaced
December 21st and should be home a couple days before
Christmas. Then it is 6 weeks of therapy 3 days a week.

ARIZONA
Hello from our winter base in Tucson. We took six weeks to make
our way from the summer location first attending the International
in Pueblo where Region 1 was the lead on the parking and
registration duties, then on to the great Nevada State Rally in
Moab, Utah. We followed this with a no-host rally on the south
rim of Grand Canyon. Lastly we and the Simon’s hosted the
Arizona State Rally in Camp Verde, Arizona attended by twentynine rigs. What a wonderful time we believe was had by all at
these four events!
I lost track of the number of new Arizona Sun Catcher and Nevada
Mother Lode chapter memberships and NKK memberships that
were signed up at the rallies. Region 1 is really a great area to
spend winters, especially the southern half. We had many first
timers at all the rallies. It is great to see so many members with
numbers in the 20,000 and up attending.
Our next big Arizona activity is in Quartzsite, Arizona where
Ruth Ann & I and Judy & Bud Hawley will host the annual ‘Newmar
Gathering in the Desert’ scheduled from January 18-22. This is
the fourth year Ruth Ann & I have hosted this event and it grows
by a few coaches each year. Last year we had 75 coaches and
already the third week of October we have thirty rigs registered
so this is shaping up to be even bigger. All those registered
will receive email updates in December with meal plans and
seminar details.
We are very excited to see the planning nearly completed for
the April 2017 rally in Benson, Arizona hosted jointly by the
Arizona Sun Catchers and Full-Timers chapters. This rally will
be one to remember for a long time. Check it out on the Klub
Calendar, the second week of April 2017.
And last but not least, remember the monthly Newmar owner
get-togethers as follows: Yuma – a monthly Luncheon; Gilbert

(East Phoenix area) – a monthly breakfast; Casa Grande – a

What a couple of wonderful months we have had since last
report. Good weather and numerous well attended rallies we
enjoyed immensely. By the way, we were so impressed with
the leadership and organization in Pueblo. Everybody we
spoke to had nothing but praise for Newmar, staff, its legions
of volunteers, participating vendors, especially Transwest and
of course the Newmar Technicians. A great big thank you
to all of you from Arizona. Most of all we enjoyed the NKK
members and the Newmar kind of fellowship.

new chapter team is looking forward to hosting. Information and
registration available online on the Klub calendar.
THANKS to Ted & Ruth Ann Hindes for a wonderful Arizona

excellence, especially in food variety. Also special thanks to
Freedom RV, Tucson for sponsoring an awesome steak dinner.
You guys are the best.

We’re Larry & Mary Roberts of Atascadero, California and we’re
the new Presidents of the California 49er’s Chapter. Larry’s a
retired general contractor and Mary’s a retired teacher. We’re
fairly new to the motorhome life having our Ventana for just 2
years after traveling for years in our 5th wheels. While attending
the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado we were inspired,
thanks to Ursie Fisher, to jump in and be part of this great group
of RVer’s as the chapter presidents. We have a great team with
past presidents, Wayne & Charlotte Thomas, taking over the
secretary/treasurer roles and Dennis & Mari Cole staying on as
the vice presidents. In the upcoming months we’ll be learning the
ropes and getting to know the members of our chapter.
The 49er’s Chapter Rally will be held in conjunction with the
State Rally on June 19-23 at Wine Country RV in Paso Robles.
Many of you have been to rallies there before so you know what a
great place it is for a rally. Reservations need to be made through
us for the four day rally, as well as reservations extending your
stay a day before the rally at the special group price of $49.00
a night. We’re still in the planning stages but we’ll let you know
when we have more information and the official reservation site
up through the Newmar Kountry Klub.

CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS
Holiday Greetings from Jim & Valerie McMillan. Where has another
year gone? Our second Golden Bears Rally was a combination
State/Chapter Rally in September at the Almond Tree RV Park in
Chico, California. We had 14 gorgeous Newmar rigs attending.
This was our first experience helping to put on a Newmar Rally
outside the State of Alaska and boy things are different out here.
We were busy every day from dawn to dusk ~ or so it seemed.
What a wonderful time we had.
We are now looking forward to getting our feet wet as Presidents
at our April 17-20 rally at Flag City RV Park near Lodi and
Stockton, California. Together with our Vice Presidents, Dalton
& Janice Bilberry, and our Treasurers, Tom & Vickie Reed, we are
putting together a great rally. There will be more information in
the next issue of the Konnection. Register by going online to the
Newmar Kountry Klub Region 1 Calendar of Events.
We wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at Flag City in April.

COLORADO
The 2016 International Kountry Klub Rally in Pueblo had a total
of 429 Newmar coaches registered. This included 165 First Time
Attendees and 27 coaches from Colorado. The new “Grupio”
app was introduced for iPhone, iPad and tablets. We were able
to see the entire program of seminars, attendees, vendors, etc.
even menus for the meals being served.
Attendance at an annual International Newmar Rally provided
everyone opportunities to meet new friends, enjoy seminars that
were very educational, see the latest updates and changes made
to the new coaches on display, etc. In addition, Newmar provided
several technicians to repair items on coaches. The fellowship,
food and entertainment were excellent. Bob & Bonnie Krieger
(International Directors), Linda Feece (Klub Coordinator) and
the many volunteers are to be commended for the numerous
hours they spent and positive results of a well-organized rally.
Please mark your calendar for the 2017 International Rally in
Sedalia, Missouri October 2-7.
Our Colorado State Pre-Rally was on September 17-19, at the
KOA in Fountain, Colorado. We had ten coaches attend with
six from out of State and four from Colorado. We took the Cog
Railroad tour and the weather was perfect, warm with no wind on
the summit and so clear one could see the Kansas State line on
the horizon. Then also toured Garden of the Gods on Segways,
toured Bishops Castle and the Pueblo River Walk.
Page 16
Colorado Krusin Aires Chapter has added 23 new members
from October 2015 to October 2016. We certainly attribute
most of this increase in our membership to the Newmar coach
sales from the Transwest Dealerships.
The Kruisin Aires had an early Christmas luncheon on Saturday,
November 12 at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Westminster,
Colorado. The luncheon was hosted by Randy & Kathy Bohmeyer,
Presidents of the Colorado Kruisin Aires.
The Kruisin Aires also have scheduled a four day Rally for
June 22-26 in Steamboat Springs. These events are open
to all Newmar Kountry Klub members. The Colorado State
Newmar Kountry Klub will host a four day rally scheduled
for September 14-18 at the Lakeside Resort in Fort Collins,
Colorado. Please mark your calendars for these events. Detailed
information will follow within the next few months.
If you are travelling or staying in Arizona January 18-23 please
don’t forget the GATHERING IN THE DESERT. This is outlined
on Page 19 of this issue of the Konnection Magazine. Also, as
a reminder, on Page 27 is the 2016/2017 Membership/Renewal
Application Form.
We are always open for any suggestions for ways to improve this

hearing from everyone by E-mail or telephone.

We have just finalized our plans for a summer rally at the

After our International Rally in Pueblo and thanking so many
people that were part of making it one of the best rallies ever,
we headed out to prepare for the Nevada State Rally in Moab,
Utah. What a great time we had hosting the rally, not because
of the activities we had planned, but because we had such
great help. It seemed like every time we needed something,
there was a Klub member ready to help from providing material
for the table decorations, buying and transporting food, setting
up for meals and cleaning up. We thank you all for making our
rally special. We were also pleased to invite three other Newmar
couples that were in the park to join us. One of the couples joined
us on our last night’s outing.

NEW MEXICO
We have had a busy schedule this fall and winter. After attending
the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado, we headed to Moab,
Utah for the Nevada State Rally. Moab is located in very interesting
country with many places to explore. After the Nevada State
Rally we headed to the Cottonwood and Camp Verde area for
the Arizona State Rally. There we viewed the beautiful Arizona
scenery by train and trolley. We had a super time at all three rallies.
We are back in New Mexico and preparing to turn over the State
Directors responsibilities to Ron & Carman Ward. They are a very
capable couple who have served the New Mexico Chile Peppers
Chapter in many different positions; now they will be taking over
the New Mexico State Directors responsibilities. We are very
happy to turn over the Directors “reign” to them January first.
We want to thank everyone who have given us support over the
past three years and have helped us in many ways in the New
Mexico State Rallies.
The soon to be New Mexico State Directors, Ron & Carmen Ward,
are busy planning the 2017 State Rally. It will be held in Taos,
New Mexico May 18-22 at the Taos Valley RV Park. The rally
fee of $340 covers 4 nights for your site, 4 breakfasts, 3 dinners,
entrance fees for the tour of the Taos Pueblo, the drum making
demo and to the Lilac Festival’s Taco Cook-off. The park will only
hold our sites until February 1, after that the sites are based on

REGION 2 // AK, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY
Region Directors :: Frank & Janice Hasman (17704)
A great rally season has just ended
and a new season is about to
begin. Everyone who attended the
International Rally in Pueblo had
a wonderful experience – beautiful
weather and scenery, educational
seminars, great food, super new
coaches to review, vendor exhibits and
a great lineup of entertainment. If you
have not attended an International
Rally, plan to attend next year in
Sedalia, Missouri beginning on October 2nd.
Region 2 now has only two rallies planned for next year, Washington
Evergreen Aires Chapter Rally beginning June 26 in Twisp,
Washington and the Washington State Rally on September 11 near
Spokane, Washington. Check the “Calendar of Events” for details.
Jan and I have sadly decided to not seek re-appointment of
our Region 2 Director position at the end of this year. We have
enjoyed working with all our friends in the Klub but find it’s time
to slow down as we age. Please contact the Krieger’s if you are
interested in this position and be assured we will be available to
assist in the transition.
As I wrote in the last edition of the Konnection, Region 2 has many
open volunteer positions waiting to be filled. We have all former
holders of these positions willing and available to assist and advise
anyone interested in filling these positions. Please remember, it takes
volunteers to keep our Klub alive!
We plan to travel south to Arizona the first of the New Year and hope
we see many of you at the Quartzsite Gathering or one of the Yuma
Newmar Owners Luncheons held the first Tuesday of the month
at the Copper Miners Restaurant.
Hoping you all had a thankful Thanksgiving, a blessed Merry Christmas,
and a prosperous and healthy New Year 2017.

OREGON
Marie & I returned from the International in Mid-October after about
five weeks on the road. We had a wonderful time, saw some beautiful
country, and of course ate a lot of good food. After we left Pueblo,
we along with Frank & Jan Hasman, went to Taos then Santa Fe, New
Mexico. Again we saw lots of beautiful country and very interesting
sights. We then went to Cortez, Colorado and Moab, Utah before
returning home. All in all it was an excellent time and we met lots of
new folks and renewed with many old friends.
If you haven’t done an International Rally I highly recommend you
put one on your bucket list. Not only do you have a great time at the
rally, but getting there and the return home can be two additional new
and rewarding adventures.
With this article Marie & I are hanging up our State Directors hats
and bidding adieu to the position we have held for the past eight
years. Here is hoping someone else will step up and take the position
and continue to keep the rally spirit alive and well in Oregon. We
would welcome the opportunity to be of assistance to anyone interested
in the Position.
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
Many happy and safe travels to all of you and we sincerely hope that
your Holiday Season brings you all the joy and happiness possible.

WASHINGTON
Hello from Casa Grande, Arizona. We are back in our winter home. On
our way back to Casa Grande we stopped in Yuma for some dental
work. On Saturday afternoon as we were watching a football game the
alarm on our refrigerator went off. The code on the door was one that I
couldn’t find in the Norcold book. At about that time my wife said she
smelled smoke so I went out and took the cover off the back of the
refrigerator and saw flames. I got it out with the extinguisher. Needless
to say we are lucky this happened in the afternoon and not at night.
2017 is around the corner and a new rally season. We have
started planning for the Washington State Rally which will be in
the Spokane area. Please set aside the dates of September 10-15
for this rally. We will have to limit the size to 15 rigs. As we get more
information, we will pass it on.
The Washington State Evergreen Aires chapter will also have a
rally in Twisp, Washington June 26-29.
If you are in the Casa Grande area this winter, please try to make it
to the Newmar Owner’s Breakfast which is listed in the “Calendar
of Events”.
We hope your Thanksgiving was filled with thanks and love. Before we
know it, Christmas will be here and a New Year.

REGION 3 // AR, KS, LA, MO, OK, TX
Region Directors :: Larry & Katie Harrington
(17407-L)
The summer of 2016 is over and
we are getting ready for winter.
The weather here in Texas is still
beautiful and full of sunshine.
We were happy to have the
opportunity to host the Lewis
and Clark caravan and attend
the International Rally in Pueblo,
Colorado on the way home. The
rally was one of the best we have
ever attended. The grounds were
great and the area around Pueblo is breathtaking. We were able to
tour the Royal Gorge and take the breakfast train for a wonderful
morning adventure with the other Region Directors, MALs and
the International Directors. We had a great time and then visited
the Fulltimers Chapter before the rally.
Like all the other regions we have been having trouble getting new
members to join the local chapters. Last year we challenged all
of our State Directors to increase their membership by 10%. If
they would do this Katie & I would furnish everything for one meal
at a future rally and do the cooking and cleanup. If they could
increase by 20% we would do two meals. The challenge was
accepted and we are now committed to cooking several meals!!
Texas has increased their membership by 29.3% and we will cook
twice. We came close to three meals.
Louisiana has increased their membership by 28.57% and we will
cook two meals for our Cajun friends. Arkansas has grown by
10.6% and we are committed to one meal. Missouri has increase
by 17.2% and we are pleased to prepare one meal for them. We
are so pleased with the results and will be preparing many meals
for our old membership and the new friends joining us.
We are working with Randall & Vicki Goodner for a Cajun
Caravan after the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri next
year tentatively from October 11-28. We have many great tours
planned and we will have many opportunities to eat delicious
food. Watch the Konnection for more details.
We have scheduled the Region 3 Rally for 2017 At the Cloud
Nine RV Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas to begin June 7-11.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. We will have
more information in the next issue of the Konnection.
We now have Louisiana State Directors! They are David &
Jan Groce of Roberts, Louisiana. Thank you guys for joining
our team. You are going to be a real asset to our group. They
have already begun work on the Louisiana State Rally. Watch
the “Calendar of Events” for more information.
Safe travels, good health and see you down the road.
ARKANSAS
Our planned Arkansas Razorback Kountry Klub Caravan to the
International Rally had 10 units plus our guest. However, by the
time the caravan formed things had happened and we were six
and our guest. There were four units from Arkansas and one each
from Oklahoma and Texas. We were a fun loving group and had
great fun rallying together.
Page 22
Wow, Pueblo is a great place to rally. Hopefully we will go back
there someday. By the way, our guest, Bess Huff, was kind
enough to help our Razorback Kountry Klub ladies plan and
present a craft project for the International Rally. It went well
and participants seemed to have a great time making Shambrella
bracelets.
On our way home to Fort Smith we attended the Arkansas
Razorback Kountry Klub Rally in Mountain View. Our thanks to
Ruth Ann & James Hairston, Arkansas Razorback presidents for
a great rally at Blue Sky RV Park. The rally included a wonderful
performance by excellent musicians, featuring Mountain View’s
Mayor, at Cash’s White River Theater as well as dinner at Jo Jo’s
Catfish Wharf located at Jack’s Fishing Resort. Great Food!
The rally included just the right amount of free time to make new
friends and visit with old friends, too.
Yeah, Yeah! Our Chapter gained two new members during
the rally. One couple is new to RVing and both couples are new
Newmar owners. Another great big YEAH, our chapter elected
officers for 2017. Our new officers are Presidents--Patsy &
Darrel Horsey, Vice-Presidents—La Donna & Jim Helms and
Secretary-Treasurers—Brenda & Terry Moore. A great slate
of officers! A huge thank you to all for stepping up! Just so
you know and so they get well deserved credit Darrel and Jim
have been our go to “Executive” Chefs. They were hands on
chefs and made sure we had wonderful meals. Thanks guys!
Our 2017 Arkansas State Rally is planned for late April in
Canton, Texas for Canton Trade Days. At this point the Rally
is fully booked, but the RV park management tells us that
they do have cancelations. Thus, if you can come, please get
on the list with I-20 RV Park and check in with Ruth Ann Hairston
(870) 703-0175.
With this article and a little remaining paper work, we must say
so long as Arkansas State Directors. We have had a great time
helping (we hope) and enjoying (we know) Newmar Kountry
Klub and the Arkansas Razorback Kountry Klub as Arkansas
State Directors. All of the rallies, caravans and luncheons were
great fun for us and we met and worked with many, many great
volunteers. Our special thanks to Katie & Larry Harrington,
Region 3 Directors, for all of their help and mentoring over the
years and to each and every Arkansas Razorback Kountry Klub
Officer and volunteer for pitching in and making things work just
like they should. We really have had a great team, thanks to
each of you.
Our plans are to continue enjoying Klub activities, while turning
our responsibilities over to capable hands. By the way, we highly
recommend volunteering for positions of service to our Klub. You
will meet lots of very nice and capable people. We have enjoyed
getting to know and working with many, many fellow volunteers.
We also want to express our thanks to Newmar Kountry Klub
and its directors and volunteers and especially to Newmar for
supporting our Klub and helping to make owning a Newmar
RV such great fun!
Travel safe,

KANSAS
Kip & Crystal French hosted a Sunflower chapter rally at Milford
Lake on August 25-28. Four member couples attended as
well as guests Randy & Anna Landerville and the Frenches
granddaughter, Lillian French. The Landerville’s are also Newmar

owners and showed interest in joining the Klub after the first of
the year. Those in attendance enjoyed the Milford Lake area, and
hopefully Kip & Crystal will host another rally there in the future
and Sherry & I will be able to attend.
From July 17-August 29, Sherry & I along with Sunflower chapter
members Ron & Nancy Flaherty journeyed through part of our
beautiful America with the Newmar Kountry Klub Lewis and
Clark Caravan. What a great experience this was to learn about
this part of our country’s history and actually be there to see as
we learned, and to also make new friends with all the other Klub
members who traveled along the trail with us. Thank you Larry
& Katie Harrington and Larry & Patsy Wood for all the work
you did to make this a great caravan.
The 2016 International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado was blessed with
good weather and great attendance with close to 150 first time
attendees, which is wonderful for the Klub. If I counted correctly
there were six rigs from Kansas, with all but one being Sunflower
chapter members. I know we have other chapter members who
would have liked to attend the International Rally, but for factors
such as still working, health, and time of year made it impossible
to attend. Next year the rally will be in Sedalia, Missouri right next
door again. Hopefully we will be able to muster larger numbers
from Kansas for that rally.
Last week as this was written, October 20-23, Sherry & I hosted a
Sunflower Rally at Mill Creek Campground at Paxico, Kansas. We
had six member rigs, one guest rig and three associate members
attend during all or part of the rally. Thank you for attending and
making for a fun rally.
On November 5, Brad & Alice Elkins hosted a Drive-In at Montana
Mikes in McPherson, Kansas. This Konnection article was written
before this date, so we sill report on it in our February article.
Merry Christmas to all, and Best Wishes for the New Year,
Larry and Sherry DeWitt (11440L)
Kansas State Directors
MISSOURI
Here we are in the middle of the winter and the members in
Missouri are scattered all over the south, with some still stuck in
the north. Mid-MO Wanderlusts have had a good year, having
added seven new members. At this writing the only thing left for
the chapter is the November luncheon in Carthage.
Everybody should be gearing up for Christmas. Then a new year
will be upon us again. We keep asking ourselves where the time
goes; as it seems only yesterday 2016 was beginning. Of course,
Joyce & I lost the summer because of my little heart episode,
which I am recovering very well.
Joyce & I will be in Florida for the winter and the first of November.
I get to start chipping and putting and maybe by January using all
my golf clubs. Joyce did get to drive the motorhome more on the
way to Florida, and she became more comfortable with driving it.
So, until spring when the rallies begin again, we hope you all have
a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

morning to meet everyone. It was a great way to get acquainted.
A total of ten couples attended—many of them for the first time.
Also attending for the first time in several years was Cecil Snyder
and his wife Nita. Many of you may remember Cecil from years
past. Cecil, longtime member of the Newmar Kountry Klub,
has held many offices including being Oklahoma State Director,
Regional Director, and Member-at-Large. It was so good to be
able to see so many Okies at the International Rally. We had
another opportunity to get together at the Region 3 Potluck Dinner.
There was a discussion about when we should get together once
we got back to Oklahoma, and we decided a fall luncheon would
allow us to get to know each other better. The luncheon was held
in Oklahoma City on November 12 at Rudy’s Bar BQ Restaurant.
We pray everyone is in good health and hope to see you soon.
God Bless and be safe.

TEXAS
There has been a surge of new Newmar Kountry Klub members
from all over the country but many from Texas as well. At one
time, Texas had five Kountry Klub Chapters but over the years
that number has dwindled to just one chapter, Kountry Klub
Lone Star South. It was our hope to regenerate chapters in
North Texas and a second chapter in East Texas. As a result,
we recently took a survey of all Newmar Kountry Klub Lone Star
members to determine the will of the current active membership.
We were very much surprised to learn that the overwhelming will
of the membership was to keep one large chapter in the state of
Texas. Of course the will of the members is what we will follow.
Therefore, Texas will continue to have just one statewide chapter
until such time as the members declare they would prefer to have
more chapters.
The Newmar International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado, in September
was a real draw for members from the State of Texas. There were
more members from Texas than any other state. We sponsored
an incredibly successful potluck one evening where over 60
members attended.
The Kountry Klub Lone Star South Chapter has a website that
is outdated, difficult to maintain but free. Of course free means
a number of advertisements from the vendor and difficulty in
making changes. As a result, the Texas State Directors have
decided to build a new Statewide Website that will be far more
user friendly, updated regularly and much more informative. The
new site will cost approximately $150 per year but exclusively for
the Texas State membership, password protected and with no
advertisements. We hope the new site will be up and running by
the first of the year.
The Texas State Rally will again be in May of next year but
the rally site has not yet been settled. Hopefully the rally site
will be determined within the next three weeks.
Jim and Jane Thomas (15629)

OKLAHOMA
Oklahoma was well represented at the International Rally this year.
Looking over the list of attendees for the International Rally, we
noticed quite a few names from Oklahoma that we didn’t know.
We came up with the idea of having a breakfast meeting one

Are you on Facebook, and if so, did you LIKE US yet??
Facebook is another means of communication that we have to share what is going on in our local
regions and also thru the Klub in general. All nine regions as well as the Fulltimers chapter have their
own pages. They are easy to find. In the search field just enter Newmar Kountry Klub for the general
Klub page or Newmar Kountry Klub Region (and add the number you are looking for – 1 ,2 ,3 etc.). If you
are a Fulltimer and want to join in their fun and their Facebook page you would add Fulltimers Chapter
after Newmar Kountry Klub. So next time you are on Facebook do a little searching and join in!

You know that guy in the Newmar
Mountain Aire that I have been
following from state to state. He
finally stopped long enough so I
could hop in and ride with him.
The new base plate is in and
working well.
As you all know when you travel
in your RV the world gets smaller.
On the way, out here, we stopped
at the Meteor Crater RV Campground on I-40 in Arizona. Del was
out hooking up and the gentleman next to us said, “Looks like
they will let anything in this RV Park!” It was George & Juanita
Rogers from Michigan. They drive a SOB (Some Other Brand),
we have been parking beside them for several years when we
are in Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort. We figured they were already
at Pueblo El Mirage, and would have been, but they had trouble
with their slide when they went to put it in.
We are now in Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort at site #570, in El
Mirage, Arizona. If you are in the area, please stop and say Hi. We
had a nice surprise the other day, Del & I were setting outside by
our coach and this couple walked up. The lady said: “Newmar”,
it was Larry & Phyllis Gordon (13394) from Alaska. They spent a
week in this park. Great to see them, we had a wonderful visit,
went together to the Friday Night Fish Fry at the restaurant here
in the park.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, as we did. We
joined a large group of ‘Snow Birds’ here in the park for a Pot
Luck Thanksgiving Dinner. We don’t travel back to South Dakota
for the holidays or stay there for the snow to show up.
The Region 4 Rally is to be held August 14-17 at the Medora
Campground in Medora, North Dakota. We plan to take in the
Pitchfork Steak Fondue and Medora Musical under the Badland
Sky in the 2,900 seat Burning Hills Amphitheatre. Tour Theodore
Roosevelt National Park, Chateau de Mores Interpretive
Center and House, the Cowboy Museum, etc. The rally fee
is $130.00/per person. Send to: Del Nordstrom – 25519 475th
Ave – Renner, SD 57055. Put this on your 2017 calendar for a
good ole’ Wild West experience. We are limited to 20 sites, so
please don’t wait until the last minute to register. The sites are
50 amp, full hookup and are drive throughs for $40.00 a night.
You will need to make your own reservations at the Medora
Campground, 3370 Pool Dr, Medora, North Dakota 58645.
Call: 800-633-6721 (Tell them you are with Newmar Kountry
Klub). The DEADLINE IS July 14th, 2017.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year where ever you
are. We will be enjoying the Arizona sun and celebrating with
those that stick around here for the holidays.
If you have any questions about any Newmar Kountry Klub Rally,
please contact the person in charge, they will be more than happy
to answer any questions you may have. We can be reached at our

ILLINOIS
We would first off like to thank Julie & Everett Israel for all
the time and dedication they put in our Illinois chapters. They
have been Regional and State Directors and played many
active roles in each of our chapters. We will miss them, but
hope to see them on occasion since they still have family in Illinois.
Our state has two chapters and we all seem to be going in different
directions before the snow flies. Our attendance was down for the
International this year, mainly due to the fact many of our people
help in harvest. It doesn’t look too promising next year either.
From our Southern group, Ed & Cookie Dierker are
hosting an Illinois Kountry Kuzzins Chapter Rally/
Arkansas State Rally in Eureka Springs, Arkansas at
the Wanderlust RV Park. The dates are May 31-June
3. Reservations for the RV Park are (479) 253-7385. They
are holding 15 sites until April 15 (all 50 amp full hookups).
Twenty-one past and present Northern Illinois Kountry Kamper
members attended the fall luncheon held at the Village Pizza
Pub in Elgin in September. Was great to see “old” friends again!

MINNESOTA
Greetings from Minnesota, we wish everyone a Wonderful
Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. We are
experiencing an unusually warmer and wetter autumn. As this is
written we have yet to see a killing frost. That is good and bad!!!
Fall allergies are lasting forever. I’m still dreaming of an Indian
summer. We need a killing frost followed by beautiful sunny days.
Pete & I are looking forward, along with the Minnesota Loons,
to spending the winter in warmer climates. We are also in the
process of planning fun outings for next summer.
Pete & I will host a Christmas Party at our Home on December
9th for all Loons that haven’t already flown south.
As usual we are starting our camping season at the Saint
Cloud Campground, May 1-4. Miriam & Larry Schuler are hosting
the campout.
June 19-22 Pete & I will host the “STATE RALLY” in Beautiful
Detroit Lakes at the “Long Lake Campsite and RV Resort”.
We are open for our July Rally. Calling all Loons for
suggestions!
The Region 4 Rally will be at the Medora Campground in
Medora, North Dakota (August 14-17). Hosts are Del & Lela
Nordstrom.
We wish everyone a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best wishes and safe travels to all!

NORTH DAKOTA/SOUTH DAKOTA
Del & I are at the Pueblo El Mirage Resort in El Mirage, Arizona
we arrived on October 22, 2016. The trip down went well except
sitting on I-40 east of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 2 hours due
to an accident. No, we were not in it nor did we see it, just had
to wait until they could get the huge line up exited from the west
bound lane and around the accident on a side road, and back on
again 5 miles down the road.
North Dakota/South Dakota State and Rushmore Roamers
Chapter Rally to be held on Monday, June 12-15 th. The
campground is Bismarck KOA, 3720 Centennial Road,
Bismarck, North Dakota. Our plans are to tour the North Dakota
Capitol Complex and Heritage Center. Take the Lewis & Clark
Riverboat Pizza Ride. Hop on Ft. Lincoln Trolley, and of course
hold our Third Annual Holey Board Tournament, etc. Most meals
will be included. Noon lunches will be on your own. All for $65.00

WISCONSIN
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
We hope everyone that traveled south for this winter season has
had safe travels and those that will be traveling after the holidays.
We are spending this winter season in Wisconsin, hoping to
complete our home remodeling that has now been going on for
the past 18 months. We hope to have it completed before our
next rally season starting in May 2017. I will be working over the
winter, and then we also plan to spend a few weeks during the
winter season at Coachlight Campground in Carthage, Missouri.
Another new adventure for this winter.
Jim & Sharon Eggert (15740) have sold their motor home and
will be leaving the Klub, Sharon has been either President or
Vice President of the Northern Aires for the better part of the
past 10 years. Her services will be missed as she had done an
outstanding job for all these years. Jim was a very active member
and always supported her efforts with the Chapter and Klub. You
will both be missed!

Region Directors :: Gary & Wanda Smith (16540-L)
What blessings we had as we
traveled the Midwest. God’s
creation was all around. First
the view of the Rocky Mountains
as we walked out of Cowboy
Church one Sunday afternoon.
Then there was Thanksgiving
Day with family and friends.
God’s blessings are there every
day. It is what we do with them
that matters. Wanda & I pray
that we will be more alert, thankful, and seize each opportunity
that God gives us to be a witness for him. Isn’t it great to be a
part of an organization (Newmar Corp) that puts God at the top?
Region 5 Rally at Grand Lake RV & Golf Resort is now history. We
all learned a lot about the role that the University of Florida plays
in agriculture. The tour of the Butterfly Rainforest and Wicked
Plants provided us with more evidence of God’s creation. An old
attraction, Silver Springs, was also a big hit by all in attendance.
Region 5 and the NKK.
Entertainment by Rick
Arnold was outstanding.
After closing Rick had to
return to the stage twice.
Everyone wanted him to
continue. The air brush
painting he did while singing
was purchased by the group
and presented to Kent &
Nancy Miller. These two will
be missed by everyone in
Florida as well as the entire
Thanks to all that volunteered during the rally. Getting involved
is the greatest way to meet people and get the most out of a rally
and the RV Lifestyle.
The Tampa Super Show will be January 17-22, 2017. Thanks
in advance to all the volunteers for the help in laying out the
parking field, parking the coaches, registration, morning
coffee and donuts, and the Klub Store. All of those that
stayed around to help load the Klub trailer for the trip back
to Nappanee. And the list goes on and on. THANK YOU!!!
The Klub calendar is loaded with opportunities to get out and
use the beautiful rigs we have. Don’t forget to check out the
Special Events offered for 2017. Get your calendar out and start
planning now for the Sedalia, Missouri International rally. Two
weeks following that is the Region 5 Rally in Williamsburg,
Virginia. Yes, plan!!! There is only two weeks between the rallies.
Williamsburg has been requested, so here we go. Limited to 40
rigs. We can be reached at [email protected]
Safe travels and we hope to see you soon. Love God Love Others.

FLORIDA
Since we will be stepping down from our Florida State Director
duties at the end of December I think I will look back at what has
occurred in the last three and one half years. This was a totally
unexpected and unplanned chapter in our lives. It has had its
challenges but the rewards have been great. We have served
under four different Region 5 Directors. If the current RD lasts for
the next three years I guess, we must assume that perhaps we
were part of the reason the others didn’t last. I don’t think so but
it’s a thought. Three and one half years ago the chapters were
struggling to get six to ten RV’s to a rally, now most of them are
having more people want to attend than they have rally spaces.
Klub memberships have doubled and tripled in that time. From
all indications, it looks like we can expect the same rapid growth
for the next couple of years. This can be attributed to the upturn
in the economy and the superior product that Newmar sends to
market. The chapter officers that each chapter elects each year
have also had a big impact on their chapter’s success. Another
reason for the rapid growth can also be attributed to the number
of new Newmar owners with Florida addresses. In the last twelve
months, we have sent letters to 125 new owners in Florida
welcoming them to the Newmar family and inviting them to join
the Kountry Klub. This to us is an indication that there is a need
for a fifth chapter. We will leave that up to the new state director
to pursue if they so desire.
If you are new to the Kountry Klub or perhaps a new Newmar
owner reading this we would encourage you to attend a chapter
rally. There is no better way to learn about your new coach than
from current Newmar owners.
Things to look forward to in the first four months of 2017 are
The Tampa Super Show in January, The Hawaiian Cruise in
February, chapter rallies in February and March, and the state
rally in April along with numerous NKK owner luncheons every
month. For information and to register for any of these go to the
web site www.newmarkountryklub.com. It is also all available in
the Konnection magazine.
We want to thank all of the chapter officers over the years that
have made our job so easy. Thanks to all of the Klub members
for your friendship which we will always cherish. Last but not
least thanks to Bob & Martha Ehlman for encouraging us to apply
for the position and to Bob & Bonnie Krieger for giving us the
opportunity. We will see you at future rallies. We leave you with
this quote from an e-mail that we recently received from one of
the members. “Life’s journey is not about arriving at the grave
safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting holly cow what a ride!”

FLORIDA MANATEES
As I write this, some of the Florida Manatees are cleaning up from
Hurricane Matthew. We are all grateful that it wasn’t worse. Our
hearts go out to those who lost loved ones and homes.
The International rally in Pueblo, Colorado is a wonderful memory
now. What a great rally it was! Lots of first-timers were there and
WWW.NEWMARKOUNTRYKLUB.COM

so many attendees volunteered to help. We had good weather,
good seminars, tours, vendors, crafts, unforgettable entertainment
and lots of food.
By the time this is published, the Manatees will have had two
rallies and it will be almost Christmas again. Let’s remember the
reason for the season as we shop for presents, decorate and get
caught up in the holiday bustle.
January is, as always, the Tampa Supershow in Tampa,
Florida. Once again, Newmar is handling the parking so that
should be painless. The attendance keeps growing each year.
It’s a good place to meet new people and make new friends. We
hope all who can will attend this year. Sign up for rallies on the
Kountry Klub website.
Welcome new members, the Olefirowicz’, the Chalmer’s, the
Ledgerwood’s and the Woodward’s to the Manatees! We look
forward to meeting you at a rally in the near future.
Until then, remember, the best things in life aren’t things.

FLORIDA PELICANS
After an eventful summer the flock started to return to Florida.
Although the monthly luncheons were attended by the few who
enjoyed the Florida summer and early fall, the majority of the
Florida Pelicans started the 2016/17 season with a very well
attended Welcome Back rally at the Silver Palms RV Resort in
Okeechobee. Between pontoon boat and airboat rides, “Ugly
Socks” contest and pickle ball lessons we managed to find time
for our annual meeting, where the current officers have been reelected for 2017.
Our annual Christmas Lunch Party to be held December 1st
will be an opportunity for us to start the Christmas season with
fellowship.
In January we will enjoy a rally in Seffner at Lazy Days. This
rally is January 8-12 just before the Florida RV Super Show.
In addition to the rallies, we enjoyed the well-attended Lunch/
Bunch events in November, December and in January. We invite
all NKK members to join us on our activities when in the SW
Florida area. Check the “Calendar of Events” in the Konnection
Magazine or the Kountry Klub web site for information.
Happy and safe travels.

FLORIDA SEA TURTLES
We are back from our travels out west and what a great time we
all had. There were 14 Sea Turtle coaches that entered the NKK
International Rally in Pueblo as a caravan. The group parked
together and had a wonderful time during the week. We learned
a lot about each other’s travels and picked up hints about our
coaches from the workshops. A trip up Pike’s Peak in the cog
train was a definite highlight to the trip, and we enjoyed the
workshops, crafts and entertainment. It was fun to spend the
time with good friends, good food and great comradery.
Now it is time to concentrate on our winter rallies. We held our
first rally in November in Cocoa, Florida and then in December
it is on to Sebastian, Florida. In January, we will see all of
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
you at the Tampa Supershow and then in February we will be
in Seffner, Florida to rally at Lazy Days. In March, we head
out of state to visit Natchez, Mississippi and the antebellum
homes there. As always, we plan different activities that we would
otherwise not think to participate in! Come and join us at any of
our rallies. It is nice to be in the warm sunshine in Florida in the
winter months and we love the company.
Safe travels to all! Remember - One of the great things about
travel is that you find out how many good, kind people there are!

GEORGIA PEACH STATE KRACKERS
Hi everyone, the fall colors have been beautiful and the cooler
weather in Georgia has arrived. The Holiday Season has come
with Christmas festivities underway. We are all busy with family
and friends enjoying this time of year. Our Christmas Luncheon
will have come and gone by the time you read this article. We
had lunch at Maritza Franks Country Cooking in McDonough,
Georgia. It was fun filled with friends, fellowship and as always
good southern cooking.
Tori & I were unable to attend the Region 5 Rally in October
but understand it was a huge success. Thanks to our Region 5
Directors, Gary & Wanda Smith.
We look forward to visiting and seeing you at a NKK rally this
coming year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

CAROLINA’S (NC – SC)
Becky & I returned from our trip out west for the International
Rally in Pueblo, Colorado. Instead of coming home after the
rally we joined the Grand Circle Caravan which was hosted by
Phyllis & Jerry Rose. We visited many of the national parks and
enjoyed perfect weather and much good fellowship among the
22 coaches on the caravan.
The International Rally was great—thanks to all the many
volunteers that participated in whatever was needed to be done.
We sure need this volunteering attitude in our local chapters.
We will hold our annual business meeting at our NC/SC
Christmas at the Beach Rally held from December 6-9 at
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Election of new officers and
rally hosts top our agenda. We look forward to seeing you
there.
Don’t forget the Tampa Super Show from January 17-22.
We hope your Thanksgiving was the best ever and that your
Christmas holidays will be all you expected. Let’s not forget who
makes it all possible—a prayerful thanks to God.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

SOUTH CAROLINA PALMETTO PALS
This is our final posting on the International Rally. It was a great
location and great rally. Once again Bob & Bonnie did a wonderful
job finding the location and all the Klub officials worked together
to make it happen. Each year when Bob & Bonnie thank
the volunteers and they all stand up you know how great
“volunteerism” is in the Klub. We had nine Pals couples attend
and we are proud to say that almost all of them, that were
physically able to volunteer, did one or more tasks.
2017 STATE RALLY - Please check the “Calendar of Events” for
the registration for our State Rally in May. You can make our State
Rally and Alaskan Caravan too!!
On the return trip from the rally we had three RV’s coming east
at an easy pace. We ran into a situation we had not planned on.
Every location we tried to stay we had to hunt several parks to
find open sites. Some locations we took their last sites and could
only stay one night. Every park told us the same thing “this is the
busiest we have ever been this time of year”. Some said their
September was 20 to 30 percent better than last year. It looks
like the RVing life style is doing very well.
Sheryn Ward, President of Chapter 72 Tennessee Volunteer
Kruisers, Gary and Wanda Smith, Region 5 Directors, Bob
and Bonnie Krieger, International Directors, Thank you for
your wonderful leadership, stewardship, and caring “Hearts”
of and for the Newmar Kountry Klub and its membership.
When you read this we will have enjoyed our annual Pals and
Tarheels joint “Christmas at the Beach Rally”. We were very
concerned when Hurricane Matthew came up the South and North
Carolina Coast with the damage it caused. Ocean Lakes Resort
sits right on the ocean with maybe 15’ sand dunes to protect it
which is not good with a storm this large. We were happy to find
that the resort survived with little damage and only 4” of water in
the Activity Building we use. They reopened the resort just two
days after the storm passed.
Now our attention turns to the 2017 season as we try and
set up the rally schedule and get rally hosts to step forward.
This seems to be our hardest task each year. We talk to other
chapters and many are having the same problem but hopefully
we will be successful this year.
We wish you all the best of holidays and a happy and healthy
New Year! May you have safe travels in 2017 and hope to see
you along the way.

Happy Thanksgiving MERRY CHRISTMAS Happy New Year! To
all our Tennessee Volunteer Kruiser members, to all our Newmar

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. I know we all have
Blessings for which we are thankful. Most of you are already in place for your “winter home”! We will
keep you posted on any snow you might miss!
SPECIAL EVENTS - Some of you are on your way to the Keys,
some of you are registered for Tampa Super Show, but there
are plenty of additional Special Event options for you to choose

April Konnection for registration info. I know Charlene & I missed
“The Best One Yet” in Pueblo, but Bob & Bonnie will make Sedalia
the “Best One YET”! Aren’t Bob & Bonnie Krieger the “BEST”! Page 30
THANK YOU - We would be remiss if we closed out this year
without recognizing “All of You” for the uplifting prayers and

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER KRUISERS
Happy Thanksgiving to you…Merry Christmas to you…and
Happy New Year!
Our 2016 year is drawing to a close and we are so looking forward
to all the events planned for 2017. Many of our members are
hunkered down for the winter in various locations. We have
members in Texas, Florida and a few brave souls that decided to
winter at home. Where ever you are, I hope you are warm and well.
Denny & I will be leaving the RV at home and heading to Iowa for
the Christmas holidays. (The coach doesn’t plow snow well!) After
that we will be attending the Tampa Super Show at the Florida
State Fairgrounds. This is always one of my favorite events and
what a fun way to kick off the New Year. We hope to see you
there. I’m never sure if this outing is the one last final outing for
the camping season or just the beginning of a new one to come.
As this is technically the last article for 2016, I would like to take
this opportunity to thank all the Volunteer Kruiser members
for all their support this year. The rallies were fun, the special
events were fantastic and, above all, our members are the
greatest. We have grown our chapter this year and I hope this
trend will continue into 2017. The officers of our chapter look
forward to working with Phil & Charlene Budd (our State Directors),
Gary & Wanda Smith (our Region 5 Directors) and above all, Bob
& Bonnie Krieger (our International Directors) as we see what new
ideas that Newmar and the Newmar Kountry Klub will have for
us going forward. Finally, a huge thank you to the other chapter
officers for all their support and efforts…Jimmy & Reba Seals
(chapter Vice-Presidents) and Denny Ward (chapter Secretary/
Treasurer).

As the Holiday Season approaches we can look back at a beautiful
fall season filled with turning leaves, football weekends, a GREAT
Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado and
the Balloon Fiesta Special Event Rally. We were on the road for
two wonderful months, so many things to see and do!

If you were not at the Region 5 Rally, you missed a great affair
hosted by Gary & Wanda Smith. The October Virginia Wheels
Rally in Ashland, Virginia hosted by the Rice’s was lots of fun
also. The food, fellowship, and planned events at all these rallies
were outstanding.
Make plans to attend the Florida Supershow Rally January 1722 in Tampa, Florida, the Newmar International Rally October
2-7 in Sedalia, Missouri and the Region 5 Rally October 23-27
in Williamsburg, Virginia and plan early to attend these events.
A special note of thanks goes to Jeanette Templeton for the

a slate of good officers. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL!!
We are looking forward to a joyous Holiday Season followed by a

to celebrate our 25th NKK
Anniversary!
OUR VIRGINIA WHEELS’
25TH NKK ANNIVERSARY!
On August 14-21 twentyo n e Vi rg i n i a W h e e l e r s
gathered together at
Chesapeake Thousand
Trails in Gloucester, Virginia,
for a “Ya’ll Come Gathering”
for food, fun, & fellowship.
Even though there were no advance plans, we toured Yorktown,
Rosewell Ruins, and other areas. Laughter was contagious and
eating was addictive! Most of us decided you can never have
too much shrimp or ice cream. Nightly ice cream socials at the
trading post were enjoyed by all whether they consumed ice
cream or not. Mostly it was just fun to be together again!
As this is written everyone is excited about our fall rally at Ashland
RV Resort in Ashland, Virginia on October 27-30. Sixteen coaches
of Virginia Wheelers are looking forward to lots of fun-filled
activities such as games, spooky tales, etc. A tour of McGeorge’s
Rolling Hills RV with a tech on hand to conduct a seminar and
answer any questions is scheduled. Food includes a potluck,
restaurants, catered meals, waffles for breakfast, and much more.
Since this is Halloween weekend, our hosts, Ron & Sandy Rice and
Berkley & Karen Alexander invite attendees to decorate your rig
as well as yourselves. This is another opportunity for our Virginia
Wheels’ family to rally together for fun, food, and fellowship as a
conclusion to our 25th NKK Anniversary Celebration.
We look forward to rallying with you in the future!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR
GENEROSITY!
This is the 8th year that we have reached out to the
local community during the International Rally to see
how we can help those in need. This year the charity
we were working with was EPIC; a group focused
on improving childhood literacy. Thru your donations
we collected 13 boxes of children’s books and raised
$487 for this worthy cause. Also donated to EPIC was
a portion of the proceeds from the Poker Run.
Another way we helped the community was the
offering collected at our Cowboy Church worship
service Sunday morning raised $2,380.97 to be used
towards their missions and youth programs.
And a big Thank You goes to the Michigan Aires
Chapter for donating the Chapter Raffle proceeds to
the Konnection magazine in the amount of $678.00.
THANK YOU MVP’S
We would like to once again thank the hundreds of
volunteers that helped out in so many areas during
the 2016 International Rally.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2016 LEWIS
AND CLARK CARAVAN
We spent seven weeks with the greatest people traveling
across the upper United States on the Lewis and Clark
trail. The time went by fast with all the exciting things we
saw and did.
While we stayed in St. Charles we learned about the
preparation necessary for a journey of this magnitude. The
supplies needed for medicine, food, weapons, and things
needed for a trip of unknown length. We toured old town
St. Charles and some of the major attractions in St. Louis,
including a ride to the top of the arch.
After leaving St. Charles we stopped in Boonville, Missouri
at the Warm Springs Breeding ranch for the Budweiser
Clydesdales. We saw some of the newborn colts and the
one born the night before came into to the world weighing
a cool 150 pounds.
In the Kansas City area we visited the Truman Library, the
Pony express museum and the Patee House museum. If
you ever visit the Kansas City area be sure to stop at the
Arabia Steamboat Museum. It is a most unusual place
with a wonderful story.
In Iowa we had the honor of touring Boys Town. This is
also a must see attraction.
We saw so much of our beautiful country. The term
“Breadbasket of America” comes to life when you drive
thru the farms and ranches of the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho
and Washington.
At the museums and interpretive centers we learned about
the hard ships of the Lewis and Clark travels and the perils
they had to endure. We have a new respect for the pioneers
that moved west to a hard land and a new life. We can be
proud of the folks that paved a raw land into a beautiful
and productive country.
We traveled to the very beginning of the Missouri River and
could put a foot on either side of the small stream.
We spent on day on a jet boat traveling up the Snake River
between Washington and Idaho. A box lunch was furnished
and we stopped at a visitor’s center for lunch. We had no
cell service, running water or electricity. It was great.
We reached the Pacific Ocean and spent a couple of days
checking out the area before we parted ways with our
fellow travelers.
You, the volunteers, are the MVP’s of the rally!
Without you the office staff, Region Directors and
Members-at-Large simply could not make it all
happen and be a great success!
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
We enjoyed this trip so much. We learned more than we
thought possible and I would love to go again. If you want
to see some beautiful country and learn the history of the
west this is a remarkable way to do it.

REGION 6 // IN, KY, MI, OH, WV
Region Directors :: Jerry and Phyllis Rose (10792-L)
So much has happened since
our last article. Jerry & I
held our first Region Rally in
West Virginia. We had a good
turnout and definitely had a
lot of fun. It is so much fun to
visit places we haven’t been
to before with a group of our
friends. Thank you everyone
who helped to make this first
Region Rally a success. We
have had so many firsts this
year. We attended our first Region Director meetings in Pueblo
and felt very welcome there.
We want to thank all those who helped us with our
International Duties. We had many compliments on our
Bulletin Board, and the stage decorations. That is what you
get when you have a group of fun loving, creative Region 6
members plus a few others who pitched in. We also had the
opening and closing ceremonies. There were a couple of small
things there but no one but those involved knew what was wrong.
So I say we had a terrific first year as Region Directors thanks to
the help of a great Region.
After International we took off on our Grand Circle Caravan. We
had a lot of cancellations but always were able to fill them from
the standby list until the last cancellation as one of our group had
an electrical fire on their way to join us. I had met a woman at
the seminar on what caravans and special events the members
would like to see. She had questions about the Grand Circle so
we talked after the seminar and her and her husband decided to
take that last vacated spot. We believe from the comments made
to us that this was a wonderful caravan with so many things people
would not have done on their own had they come there without
being on the caravan. This caravan brought the comment many
times from lots of people that this is God’s country. We saw such
beautiful sights. I tried to load pictures to both my Facebook page
and the Region 6 page but cell service and wife were not the best
so not all of my posts loaded.
We are very excited for our upcoming year as we have some
very motivated people who want to grow their chapters. We
already have all of the Michigan rally dates for next year. Ohio
has given us their State Rally date. We are working on the
beginning of June for our Region Rally in Indiana. When you
support your Chapter, State, and Region rallies we promise
you will have fun.
I must make an extreme apology to Michigan. I did receive their
article for the last issue of the Konnection but I inadvertently did
not have it in the group I sent to the office for the Konnection
magazine. I am so sorry I did not realize it until I received the
Konnection.
Have a question about the Klub or need some help, give us a
call. Jerry 937-470-4306, Phyllis 937-657-1563 or prosecook@

It’s hard to believe that 2016 is almost over. Time sure does
fly by when you are having fun, especially when camping and
fellowship is involved.
We are pleased to announce that Ralph Dennis will become the
president of the Bluegrass Kountry Roamers chapter on January
1, 2017. Ralph & his wife, Nancy, have enjoyed the Kentucky state,
Region 6 and International Rallies – Congratulations to Ralph &
Nancy – we know that you will do an outstanding job.
We trust that all had a very happy Thanksgiving with family and
friends – we have much to be grateful for and are blessed to be
able to enjoy this life style. Many of us have begun our travels
to warmer climates for the winter season. We wish a safe and
uneventful journey to you all. We also wish all our Bluegrass
Kountry Roamers who are battling illnesses a speedy and full
recovery.
As we reflect on the upcoming holiday season, we wish all our
fellow NKK members a blessed, safe and healthy Christmas.
Please remember the reason for the season.
We are always looking for rally hosts and members willing to
serve as officers of the Bluegrass Kountry Roamers chapter.

HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION.
Remember when you returned to school and had to write an
essay on how you spent your summer vacation? Well, when I
was a kid, we went to the surrounding area lakes on day trips
and once in a while we would go to Mackinaw for a night. Now
WWW.NEWMARKOUNTRYKLUB.COM
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
I spend my summers going to Newmar Kountry Klub Rallies.
Now we are bigger kids with bigger toys going further away and
staying in our own first class accommodations.
If you are reading this and you haven’t yet been to one of our
rallies, you are missing some of the best times of your adult/
childhood. We gather together to catch up on current events
(you know, grandkids and the like). We exchange stories of past
rallies and excursions. War stories about break downs and late
arrivals. We laugh with each other as we tell of flooded parks,
campfire-smoke filled campgrounds, and those times when
we hook up and the electric goes out while the microwave is
cooking dinner. We eat too much and we spend too much and
we wouldn’t change a minute of it. The bonds we make during
these “weekend” camp-outs are priceless and lifelong.
Now that we have reached the end of this year’s rally season and
many of us head south for the winter, we will begin plans for the
next Summer Vacation. We hope to see you there.
MICHIGAN
I’m sure you have heard the saying “you don’t know what you’ve
got till it’s gone”. Well, it’s gone. The summer that is. If you didn’t
take part in the rallies this summer, you missed a lot. We began
the summer in the spring with Indiana and Ohio in Howe, Indiana.
Then we gathered together with Ohio for a joint State Rally in Port
Austin, Ohio. We were in Ludington and Frankfort and then finally
we had a great send off to the International Rally from Holland.
During the summer, we visited, played games, did crafts and
connected with our extended family before we attended “THE”
rally in Pueblo, Colorado.
Now, if you didn’t attend the International Rally in Pueblo…. well
you missed a cowboy setting with a Cowboy Church service. You
missed seminars, craft classes, bingo, food and more food. You
also missed tours of all the beauty in and around Pueblo. You
missed Pueblo Salsa, and 15 different new coaches. You missed
seeing one of our chapter members win their rally fee back. (Just
saying, I was so happy.)
Once the rally was over, 22 rigs set off for the Grand Circle Caravan.
Colorado, Arizona and Utah. We saw some of the wonders of our
beautiful country. Mesa Verde, Lake Powell, the Grand Canyon,
the Arches and much wildlife. I even saw a roadrunner in one of
our campgrounds. Each stop was as amazing as the last. We took
many pictures but the pictures never show all the majesty.
Please make sure you attend our rallies this coming summer
so that you don’t miss a thing. Our rally schedule will be in the
next Konnection or on the Newmar Website real soon. Some
arrangements are still being made so be sure to look for the
dates and places. Don’t be that guy who missed out.

WEST VIRGINIA TRAVELING MONTANI
We were privileged to attend the International Rally in Pueblo,
Colorado this year representing the West Virginia Traveling
Montani. This was our second rally since we were chartered last
year in Lewisburg, West Virginia. We had a good trip even though
our coach suffered some damage on the way west. A young lady
entering I-64 in Illinois slammed into the right side of our coach
on the entrance ramp. She was cited and the coach suffered
$5,300 in cosmetic damage, but being a Newmar, everything
is still functional. It’s great that we have such a reliable coach
that can stand a few bangs and bumps without causing a major
disruption of our trip. We’ll get it repaired this winter.
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
On our way home, we spent a delightful weekend with the Ohio
Chapter attending the Bob Evans Farm Festival. We stayed at the
Gallia County Junior Fairgrounds in Gallipolis, Ohio and found it
to be very nice. They even had free Wifi that was excellent! Many
thanks to Flash & Beverly Miller, Ohio State Directors, who, even
though it was billed as a no-host rally, coordinated everything and
made us feel very welcome. International Members-At-Large,
Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, were in attendance and we welcomed
the opportunity to get some tips from them on planning for a
successful year. By the time this article is published, The West Virginia Traveling
Montani will have held our end of the season planning meeting
on Friday, November 18, 2016. Beth has been researching locations in West Virginia that have full
hookups and can accommodate big rigs. We are hoping to identify
places that would be good places to hold our 2017 rallies. So far
she has identified 33 potential sites! West Virginia has beautiful
scenery and we plan to spend part of our winter visiting some
of these locations to find the absolute best place to have great
rallies in a spectacular location.
We welcome new members Jim & Sharon Strader, who joined
West Virginia Traveling Montani at the Newmar Kountry Klub
International Rally which was held in Pueblo, Colorado. Our
chapter looks forward to welcoming the Strader’s. All members are asked to share their ideas for 2017 rallies by
contacting Bill. Non-members who own Newmar products are
welcome to join us for a rally to learn more about our Klub. Bill and Beth White (20471)

Region Directors :: Bob and Jane Hadley (16789)
Greetings from Region 7. First
we would like to wish everyone
a Merry Christmas and a
Happy and Healthy 2017! We
are presently settled in Naples,
Florida for the winter months.
Looking forward to warm temps
and sunny skies.
International Rally in Pueblo was
a great success. Before Pueblo
it was a stop in Nappanee for
some coach work and to help out in the Klub office with loading
the trailer for travel to Pueblo. The days before arriving in Pueblo
we traveled along the Oregon Trail. Our country is beautiful! So
much to see and do in such a short time. Once in Pueblo it was
Directors meetings and setting up for International. Region 7
Directors were responsible for the vendors, member and vendor
mail and the ice cream social. We had 27 vendor booths carrying
all kinds of RV supplies and services to you our members.
Many thanks to all our volunteers that helped us set up and
tear down the booths in the vendor building and spending
time at information booth. Many thanks to Transwest RV
for displaying the 2017 models. Pueblo was a great location
for International. So much to see and do. The Pueblo area, the
seminars, the entertainment and yes the food was outstanding. If
you were not able to attend this year’s rally try making plans
for next years in Sedalia, Missouri October 2-7.
We would like to thank Bob & Bonnie Krieger, our International
Directors, for all their work in putting together this year’s rally. So
much time and effort on their part is what makes a rally a success.
We must not forget our Klub Coordinator, Linda Feece, for
all she does in helping to make our Klub the great Klub that it
is. She is our go to person and it never fails to amaze us with
her knowledge and PATIENCE she shows toward everyone she
makes contact with. We are so blessed to have her and send our
many thanks for everything.
After Pueblo it was down to Albuquerque, New Mexico for
the Balloon Fiesta. What an experience to see more than 750
balloons of all sizes, shapes and colors ascend within a 2 hour
time frame. Newmar’s location on the launch field was perfect
and this event is definitely a must on every ones bucket list!!!
After the Balloon Fiesta it was a trip across southern US with
stops along the Gulf coast with a week in Gulf Shores, Alabama
for the annual Shrimp Festival and days enjoying the beautiful
beaches on the gulf shores. The sand is like a huge sugar bowl so
unlike our hard packed sand of New England.
We even had the opportunity to stop and enjoy the Region 5 Rally
in Citra, Florida. They really know how to put on a great rally. They
kept us busy with daily trips and entertainment. Thanks to Region
5’s Directors, Gary & Wanda Smith, for their hospitality and fun
rally.
Still trying to make plans for Region 7’s 2017 rally. Plans are to
schedule it the week after Labor Day and before International.
More info to come.

New York will be having a rally in the eastern part of the state
on the Hudson River at John & Nancy Alguire’s property
in Mechanicville, New York on June 9-11. It will be an
organizational rally to establish a chapter in the eastern part
of the state. Please plan to attend to give your support in forming
and joining this new chapter in New York.
Pennsylvania we are still hoping a couple will come forward
and apply for the State Director’s position. You have a great
chapter and having their support will make filling this position
easy.

NEW ENGLAND STATES
Hello again from New England. Our rally season is over as
much as we hate that idea. We here in New England actually
had snow today. It’s only October 27th.
Our last rally was a huge success. The “We can’t go to International
Rally” Rally, was held in Bernardston, Massachusetts. Our host’s,
Billy & Jeannie Silvester, did a fabulous job. They planned great
meals, a boat ride on the Connecticut River, a trip to tour the
Butterfly Museum, Magic Wings, an afternoon of bowling and
plenty of sightseeing on your own time. We even had a new
couple who had planned to attend the rally, but had a smashed
windshield when ready to leave, so they drove back and forth
with their car to attend festivities on both days. Welcome Bill &
Jane Eldridge. Also another new to Newmar couple attended.
Welcome Joan & Louis Battistoni. These couples will be a great
addition to our rally fun.
We have heard from many of our snowbirds, some are headed
south or west and some are already at their winter destinations.
Safe Travels!
As this is written, our next get together is the Fall Luncheon being
held at the home of Barb & Brad Wright on November 12th, which
will be over when this is published.
Our first rally for the 2017 season is booked at Travelers
Woods of New England in Bernardston, Massachusetts for
our New England States rally on June 1-4. Information will
be out during the winter. Contact George or Cathy Keith with
questions.
It’s time to renew chapter membership! Please contact
Joanne Merwin @ 978-649-1946. $20.00 for the year.

NEW JERSEY
Hello again from New Jersey! Angela & I were not able to go to the
International Rally this year so I’ve asked Mike & Barbara Agrati
to help with this issue’s article and share some of their thoughts.
I’ll have more on New Jersey goings on at the end of their notes:
From: Mike and Barbara Agrati, New Jersey Garden Aires,
Treasurer and Secretary:
In October, we attended our first International Rally, and what a
Rally it was! We have attended many other rallies but this was our
first International Rally. To represent New Jersey was an honor and
something we were glad to do.
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
Upon leaving New Jersey, we stopped in Nappanee at Newmar to
have some warranty work done on our coach. After our first visit
to Nappanee, Barbara & I have always referred to Nappanee as
“Mayberry”. As in the Andy Griffith Show. It reminds us of times
past and how different life has become. While there we met many
friends from past local rallies and had the opportunity to make new
friends, which once again made us feel right at home. But when
the work was done, the time had come to leave a beautiful place
and head west. Along the way we once again were reminded of
God’s creation in this beautiful country of ours. In previous trips
from New Jersey we have explored the different routes the settlers
had taken to find a new life. One of those trips was to follow the
Oregon Trail but this time in heading west we decided to explore
the Santa Fe Trail. We were fortunate enough to have the time to
stop along the road to visit many beautiful places. Always a history
lesson, but remember without history there is no future.
While at the rally, I took the 2-day Camp Freightliner class. I was a
little torn in taking the class as I felt that I was missing out on some
of the seminars. However, I am glad that I took the class. I thought
my head was going to explode (is it possible to get an external
hard drive for your brain?). While I was doing this class, Barbara
was attending seminars, visiting the many vendors and meeting
up with friends old and new. After the Freightliner class I did jump
in on some of the various seminars (National Parks-Local HistoryTravel Apps to name a few). One of the most memorable views
of the rally was when we walked into the Event Center for the
first time (enclosed arena) and we saw the 2017 Newmar Models
surrounding the perimeter of the Event Center-almost looking like
a wagon train preparing for a night’s stay. What an experience.
Can’t wait for the next International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri.
Here we come!
When the rally was over we headed south to Las Cruces, New
Mexico passing along the way thru Albuquerque, New Mexico
where we witnessed the mass ascension of all the hot air balloons
for the world-famous Balloon Fiesta. What a beautiful sight!
Knowing that we would have to eventually head home to New
Jersey we spent a great deal of time in both New Mexico and
Texas. We both feel that we are Texans at heart. We have a learned
a great quote in our travels: “We head West by choice and East
by force.” Until next time! Mike & Barbara Agrati (20411) New
Jersey Garden Aires
While Mike & Barbara enjoyed Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and
parts in between, Angela & I got to stick it out in. We did attend
one rally held up in Massachusetts by the New England Aires (of
which we are also members). It was sort of “The Rally for Those
Folks Still Working, and Unable to Get the Time Off to Go to the
Colorado Rally” Rally. Hosted by Clyde, the Poodle, and his adult
children, Billy & Jeannie Silvester, Angela & I had a great time.
We are making plans already to winterize our rig and put it to
sleep for the long north Jersey winter. Plans are underway for a
return to Cape May, New Jersey for a New Jersey State Rally
next June 21-25. That’s a great place with plenty to do. Do
consider joining us. This autumn, Angela & I will be checking
out some other locations for rallies, but New Jersey is a difficult
place to hold them. Except for the Jersey Shore there are not
many campgrounds available. Those that are have high costs.
Think Liberty Harbor RV at “only $90 a night” to park in a parking
lot. Many older campgrounds won’t fit our coaches and having
access to a pavilion are just some issues. If anyone has had a
good experience at some campground in New Jersey, and think it
rally friendly please drop us a line.

NEW YORK
Hi Everyone. We had a great time at the International in
Pueblo. The entertainment was great and if you did not go, you
missed a good time. Weather was perfect. The Newmar display
that Transwest put on was fantastic. Pikes Peak on the Cog rail
system was a fantastic trip. Make sure you add a trip like this
to your bucket list for your future trips. Plan on attending next
year’s International next in Sedalia, Missouri Oct 2-7!
We returned home as the leaves were changing to their fall colors.
This year the colors were better than ever. Western New York has
some of the most picturesque scenery in the state. It seems that
with the drought this year, we have better colors.
As this is written the Lakers had their rally at Genesee Country
Campground this weekend. It was a little damp to start with,
but spirits were high and Friday night all went to Leroy Country
Club for some excellent dinners. On Saturday Bill Nixon did his
garbage can turkey and everyone brought a dish to pass.
Sunday the Lakers had their annual Christmas Brunch at Terry
Hills Country Club in Batavia, New York. There were 26 there
to enjoy the brunch and friendship. A meeting was held for the
election of officers, no one volunteered for the office of President
and Secretary, We will hold the office election again during our
May rally at Southwoods RV Park the third weekend in May
2017.
It was mentioned that we should try having some of the rallies
during the week rather than on the weekend. 2017 will be the
20th anniversary of the New York Lakers. Several volunteered
to have rallies in 2017, it should be a busy summer.
An organizational rally will be held at John & Nancy Alguire’s,
Mechanicville, New York the second weekend in June for all
Kountry Klub members east of Syracuse. This is on the Hudson,
great place for a Rally. Plan on attending great food, scenic, great
time will be had. We will be looking for Chapter officers at this
meeting. We will be contacting Kountry Klub members in the near
future.
Travel safe,

PENNSYLVANIA ALLEGANY KAMPERS
Greetings from Pennsylvania. By now most of the Pennsylvania
snowbirds are at their winter home. We had a great time at the
International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado. We had 9 rigs from the
Allegheny Kountry Kampers and 13 rigs from Pennsylvania. We
really enjoyed the tour on the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak so we
could enjoy those high altitude donuts. Cowboy church was also
a really nice touch to the rally.
We are now starting our planning for our spring rally at Swatara
Campground. We are looking at the third weekend in May.
Hosts and assistants are still needed to put together a full
schedule of events.
Hope you all have had a great year and best wishes for a happy
and prosperous new year. Remember, bad decisions often make
great stories.

Region Directors :: Glen & Marg Bassindale (3387-L)
People always ask us what park
we have our trailer in. My reply
is, we don’t, it has wheels for a
reason and we travel where we
want. This year was another year
for some extended travel for us
as we were able to go to Alberta
and spend some time with our
grandchildren and then carry on
to Colorado for the International
Rally. As everyone who has a
Newmar knows, it is the best way to go!
The end of 2016 is near and that means finishing up any last
minute items, such as year-end reports for anyone who has
not sent them to us, making sure your winter address has
been provided to the Klub Office or updating your email or
renewing your Klub membership and your Konnection magazine
subscription. A lot of housekeeping to ensure we can keep in
touch with our members.
The end of the year also prompts us to begin our planning for
2017. Wintering away? Check out the many Klub functions
in Florida, Texas, Arizona, you are welcome to join anywhere.
For us, the season starts with the Muskoka Rambler
Spring Rally, scheduled for May 26-28, at Milton Heights
Campground, Milton, Ontario and is hosted by Hugues &
Michelle Lemieux. This is a time for us to get together after a
long winter and start our season off right.
Heading to the Canadian East Coast this year? Take the
opportunity to stop into the Aurum Kountry Travelers Spring
rally held in Shediac, New Brunswick, usually around the
end of June running into the July 1 holiday weekend. This is a
great location and lots of good fun and good food.
Our Region 8 rally plans are under way and we hope to be
able to announce our location soon, so watch the website
and the Calendar of Events for all happenings in Region 8.

REGION 9 // AB, BC, MB, NT, SK, YT
Region Directors :: Dave & Joanne Killey (16152-L)
I saw a sign the other day
that said “This Land is Your
Land”. Visions of a song with
this title sung by folk singer
Woody Gunthrie were soon
occupying my mind. It was an
old song where it had a verse
that went something like “this
land was made for me and
you”. It certainly is great that
we can roam around in our land
and take in all its beauty and glory and if that were not enough – we
can take it all in with our RV’s in comfort and style that is deserving
of a king and queen.
The 2016 International Rally was a great success and a great rally.
Canada members showed up in force at the Canadian gathering
which was held at the rally like it always is. It was great to see old
friends and make new friends from across the country.
The Klub store was once again taken care of by Region 9 and we
were blessed with a great number of store volunteers again this
year. A great big bundle of red roses go out to our team leaders Les
& Donna Wyles and Jim & Barb Watson. These members were a
great help at the rally again this year. Among the other volunteers
were Doris & Wayne Erickson, Gordon & Linda McKenzie and
Joe & Inga Bridge. We owe them all them all big THANK YOU for
volunteering at this year’s rally. It is only through the generous
donation of your time and energy as a volunteer that these rallies
are made possible.
The Province of Alberta will not have a Provincial Director at
the end of 2016. Why not take that step and volunteer to fill
this void? It comes with a variety of perks and does not take up a
lot of time. Most Klub business is done through the internet – so
going south in the winter is not a problem at all. If you are interested
in knowing more – give us a call at 604-916-7767 or send us an
email at [email protected].
The next Region 9 Rally will be held at the Irricana Founders
Campground and Community Centre which is in Irricana,
Alberta from June 14-18, 2017. This will be a Wild Rose Chapter
20th Anniversary Rally. An invitation to attend a catered meal at the
Irricana Community Centre on Saturday, June 17, will highlight the
rally. Details will be sent out in the spring. We are looking to pass
along old stories of past rallies, best friends made in the chapter
for the past 20 years.
Klub is all over it. There is a Facebook page for each of the 9 regions
along with the Full-Timers page and the main Klub page. They
can be found if you use this as your search parameters: “Newmar
Kountry Klub Region 1”, “Newmar Kountry Klub Region 2” and
so on for all 9 regions. The Full-Times can be found by searching
Newmar Kountry Klub Fulltimers Chapter. The MAIN Facebook
page for the Klub and be found by searching “Newmar Kountry
Klub”. See what others are talking about…..
The location for the 2017 International rally has been announced.
The Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri will be the
site and the dates are the first week of October. There will
be 600 full services sites with 50amp power for everyone’s
enjoyment. The location is great for those snowbird’s taking
their annual migration to the southern areas of the USA.
As 2016 is ending, we would like to wish everyone a Very Merry
Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. As always, our
door is always open and we would love to hear from you. Give us
a call at 604-599-4499 or email [email protected].
BRITISH COLUMBIA
Hi everyone, we are your new British Columbia Provincial Directors
and have been busy learning our responsibilities. We are fairly
new to the Newmar family, although we have been camping from
day 1 and gone through all types of RVs from tents to a high end
5th wheel and finally a Newmar Dutch Star, which we purchased in
May 2015. We became British Columbia Provincial Directors at the
Fort Steele Rally in June 2016. Since then, we have been actively
looking for a place to hold a British Columbia Provincial Rally in
2017. We have decided that we could have a rally before the
Alberta Provincial Rally then travel to it after ours. With that in
mind, we are planning the rally for Fairmont Hot Springs, June
9-12 (more details to follow). If you have any ideas or preferences
for this BC Provincial Rally and maybe a show of hands who might
attend, please email us at [email protected].
We went to our first Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally
at Pueblo, Colorado in September 2016. It was a wonderful
experience! There were lots of seminars to help you with your
coach, entertainment, repairs on the coach from great technicians
and free time to explore the area and meet other Kountry Klub
members and just a lot of fun! We met a lot of great people and
made some great friends. There was something for everyone to
do every day. At the end of the rally, Doris took a Motorhome
Driving Course that included 2 – 4 hour lessons over 2 days with
certified instructor, Paul Metzinger from RV Driving School. He was
an excellent instructor. Doris took our 40’ Dutch Star through the
residential tree lined streets of Pueblo and finally finished up on
a 20 mile trip on I-25. She started off very anxious about driving,
but soon Paul, with his patience and experience had her feeling
very comfortable behind the wheel and by the end she felt very
confident. Thanks very much, Paul.
We have started to compile a series of short happy anniversary
videos from Klub members. If you have a smart phone, please
consider taking a video and emailing it to me. We will have these
put up in a TV screen for everyone enjoyment during the rally. Long
standing founding members of the chapter, Ed & Verna Schmidt, are
working on “The history of the chapter” and I am sure they would
like to have any information that you would like to share. You can
e-mail Ed at [email protected].
While we were at one of the functions at Pueblo, we found out
about the rally in Indio, January 8-10, which we have decided
to attend. We have also decided that since we will be in Indio,
we would also attend the FMCA rally with the Newmar Chapter
January 11-15. From there we are going to the Newmar “Gathering
in the Desert” January 18-23 at Quartzsite, Arizona. If you are
going to be at or in the area of any of the rallies, please stop by
for a visit. We will have our “shingle” in our window. We hope to
meet you in our travels and at our Provincial Rally at Fairmont Hot
Springs in June 2017.
2017 is stacking up to be a good year for regional rallies. If you
have any suggestions for themed rallies or locations, please pass
them along to us or your provincial directors or chapter presidents.
Happy and Safe Travels,
Doris and Wayne Erickson (20938)

SIGN UP NOW TO EXPLORE THE LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN
Alaska Caravan June 6 – July 19, 2017
Alaska has been called the “land of the midnight sun”, “the
last frontier” and “the RV trip of a lifetime.” Whatever you
call it, this adventure is one of a kind.
Our journey will begin in Edmonton, Alberta Canada on
June 6, when we will have our first travel briefing and meet
our fellow travelers. One of the unique advantages of this
caravan is our method of travel. We begin with a manageable
limit of 15-21 rigs. Your wagonmasters travel ahead while the
tailgunners bring up the rear ensuring that everyone makes it
safely to the next campground. We travel in groups of 3 to 5
rigs. This enables flexibility for extra stops and helps reduce
the impact on other highway traffic. Frequent travel briefings
are held along the way during group socials.
If you could trace the route on a map, you would follow the
highway to Dawson Creek, the start of the Alaska Highway,
up through the northeast section of British Columbia with a
stop at Ft. Nelson and beautiful Muncho Lake. You would
then skirt the southern border of the Yukon Territory to
Skagway, Alaska, a fun-filled port city that played a major
part in the Klondike Gold Rush. At Skagway, we’ll take a day
cruise through the Inside Passage to the historic capital city
of Juneau. Another highlight is our train trip up the scenic
and historic White Pass to the Yukon.
Next stop will be Whitehorse where we will see the Frantic
Follies Show and visit the Transportation Museum and the
Beringia Interpretive Center to learn all about the Ice Age
with its giant mammals and the First People of North America.
Dawson City puts us at the “midnight dome” which gets its
name from the fact that the sun barely sets before it rises again
during the summer. Moving on, we cross the Top of the World
Highway and spend a couple of nights in Tok.
In Valdez, we will cruise the amazing Prince William Sound
where we will see towering peaks, amazing glaciers and
incredible wildlife. Next stop is Palmer to learn about the
Matanuska Colonist of 1935 and a visit to a Musk Ox farm.
There’s a Walmart nearby.
Next on the itinerary is Homer where an optional activity will
be fishing for Halibut. On a previous Newmar caravan, one 125
pounder was caught. Forty to sixty pounds was not unusual.
Then Seward, a picturesque community nestled between high
mountain ranges, which is a trip favorite. It features a lunch
cruise into the spectacular Northwestern Fjords. A four-day
DECEMBER 2016 / JANUARY 2017
stop in Anchorage will allow time to resupply at Sam’s, Costco,
or Walmart as well as time to see the local attractions and
enjoy the fresh seafood. As the trip nears the end, we will
visit Denali National Park, a must.
Our final stop is Fairbanks, Alaska, where we will see an Ice
and Northern Lights Show and go on a paddleboat river
cruise. Our caravan disbands in Fairbanks on July 19. This
allows the opportunity for everyone to further explore Alaska
along whatever route they choose. Many travel with their
new-found friends in mini-caravans.
Traveling to and from campgrounds has been well thought
out and is never farther than one can comfortably drive in a
day. Campground reservations have already been arranged.
Reservations for tours, rides, shows, meals, and museums
have also been arranged. A complete itinerary is available
by contacting the Kountry Klub office or the wagonmaster.
Weather conditions, rig preparation, clothing, road conditions
and other logistics will be discussed via several formats. You
also are provided a copy of the Mile Post and a custom travel
book which shows our route and provides details of each place
where we stop, and a custom monogrammed jacket.
A maximum of 21 rigs will be making the journey, so sign up
early. The Alaska Caravan hasn’t been offered for a couple of
years, so we anticipate that this caravan may fill up quickly.
Traveling with a group of friends makes for an elevated sense
of enjoyment. Experiences of the day are shared along with
much laughter at afternoon social hours and potlucks. What
are you waiting for, reservations are now open. See page 20
for the Caravan ad and details on this event. You can register
directly on the Klub’s website www.newmarkountryklub.com.
Simply click on Special Events and then the Alaskan Caravan;
or you can call the Klub office to register or with any questions

At the NKK International in Pueblo, CO we were
stunned (and that’s putting it mildly!!!) when our name
was drawn for the $1,000 cash grand prize. Being in
a state of shock I (John) simply sat there wondering if
I’d heard correctly when our name was announced…
and I didn’t truly believe it until I noticed Nancy was
already on her feet, squealing with delight and doing
her “happy dance”.
We want to thank Newmar Corporation and the Newmar
Kountry Klub for that most generous gift which, by the
way, we have already put to good use.
We purchased the Time Bandit from Marty and Doug
Lown at Coachlight nearly twenty years ago and have
never once for a second regretted our dealings with
that dealership nor our relationship with Newmar. We
considered both entities to be a part of the team that
continues to enable us to live our dream.
Again we say “Thank You” for the generous cash prize.
Most sincerely,
John & Nancy Kelker

Cancellation Policy For Region,
State, Provincial Rallies
Due to the large number of late cancellations, the Kountry Klub
has experienced significant financial losses from non-refundable
commitments made during the planning stages.
A new Region, State/Provincial Rally “Cancellation Policy” is being
implemented.
1)An administrative fee of $10/person will be charged. This fee will cover
costs associated with processing your rally registration and will be
included in the rally fees as advertised.
2)Members who register for a rally and then:
a)For whatever reason, cancel a minimum of 35 days prior to the start
of the rally will receive a full refund, less the administrative fee of $10/
person.
b)Cancel 34 to 8 days prior to the start of a rally will be charged for any
non-refundable commitments made on your behalf in addition to the
$10/person fee.
c) Cancel 7 or less days prior to the start of a rally will receive No Refund
on any portion of the rally fee paid.
3)Members who register for a rally and do not advise the Hosts that they
will not be attending will receive no refund.
4)All refunds will be made at the conclusion of the rally.
PLEASE NOTE: Planning any rally requires long-term organization. Many service
providers require non-refundable financial commitments. Because these deposits
and financial commitments are often made well in advance of any rally, this policy
becomes a necessity.

THE DIFFERENCE
YOU CAN FEEL
THE
EXPERIENCE
it all starts with SUPERIOR RIDE & HANDLING
Owners and test drivers alike say they can "feel the difference" of a Spartan, the minute they take the
wheel. That’s because Spartan chassis are built to handle better, from the ground up: from a more
comfortable ride to their tighter turn radius, to Spartan’s wider, stouter, more reliable stance, Spartan
chassis feel different, because they are different.
