). As they are watching the video, they will be filling in notes that go along with the video. 3. We will discuss the video as a class. I will introduce the term filial piety and explain how this is still important today. 4. Students will receive a handout titled
“Explore More--Political and Cultural
problems in the time of Confucius.”
5. With their partner, students will read
the article and answer the questions
that follow.
6. When students finish, we will go over
the answers as a class.
7. Students will be given a text called

Selections from the Confucian Analects.​
” We will go over this as a
class because the wording is
completely different than how we
speak. I will read a section and the
students will rewrite it in their own
words.
8. Once we have gone through all of the
sections, students will discuss
answers to the questions with their
partners.
9. We will end the class with a class
discussion on Confucius and his
ideas.

1. 2nd and 3rd blocks: 6.35 2. 4th block: Finish China projects and begin presentations. Assessment: Confucius questions, class
discussion, student discussion
2nd block: 1. Bellringer: I will go over how today’s activity will work. We are doing a jigsaw with standard 6.35. I will divide the class into groups. The first group they are in is called their “home group”. This is the group they begin AND end in. I will then divide the class into their second groups. The second group is called the “expert group”. In the expert group, students will read a text and answer questions that go along with that text. After a certain amount of time, students go back to their home group where each “expert” teaches their group about what they read. While the expert is speaking, the other group members will be filling in their notes. 2. Expert groups: i. Emperor Shi Huang ii.
