An exhibition of new and inspiring work by local textile
artist Helen Harrison, featuring a diverse range of pieces
created using an eclectic blend of textures and colours.
This new series delves into the emotions, feelings and
outcomes of the personal experiences of people wrongly
or rightly diagnosed with Cerebral Vascular
Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease and their carers. Helen’s
mixed media textile art draws upon her own personal
journey whilst also incorporating the feelings, concerns

Duff House Banff
Anthony Wildig is well known in Hertfordshire for his
paintings and antique furniture restoration. His
introduction to north east Scotland was during a visit to
Aberlour-on-Spey and, in the years since, the changing
seasons and exceptional light in the area have inspires
these watercolour paintings of the landscape and
coastline of Aberdeenshire and Moray. Anthony works
from his studio in Aberdeenshire.

Foggie Flower Show
Aberchirder. This year’s show promises to bring a wide
variety of attractions for all ages. Inverurie Pipe Band will
start off proceedings in the afternoon, highland dancing
competition begins at 12:30pm. The baby contest will be
at 2pm and dog parade at 3:30pm. This year’s show will
be opened by Jo Farrow of STV Weather, who will then
crown the show queen before the presentation of the
trophies. Aberchirder Primary School competition winners
will also be presented with their trophies. There will be
breathtaking displays from the North East Falconry
Visitors Centre
Give and Take Day
Inverurie Town Hall. 8am-3pm. Clear out your
cupboards! You may also find a 'new' treasure at the
Inverurie Give and Take Day. The event is being run by
Aberdeen Forward with support from Aberdeenshire
Council and aims to divert reusable household items from
landfill. You can take along unwanted items and take
away anything that catches your eye. Please bring
Household and Garden items, books, CD's and DVD's,
bikes, tools, kitchenware, plants and furniture. We cannot
accept electrical items, video cassettes or clothes and
please do not bring along broken items (unless it's an

Turriff Show, The Haughs, Turriff
The popular Turriff Show is a country show with a
predictable emphasis on livestock and agriculture, but
with plenty more besides. In addition to livestock
exhibits, more than 250 trade stands provide a wealth of
shopping opportunities and there are plenty of eating
and drinking options at the large Food Fayre. There is a
forestry section, a craft fair and a full programme of
events taking place in the arena. These include pony
and trap competitions and parades, tug-of-war, brass
and jazz bands, vintage vehicle displays, falconry, races
and Highland dancers and pipes. Each year,
approximately 40,000 visitors attend the event.

Cetacean Spotting
Loch of Strathbeg, Crimond. 1.30-3.30pm. The dunes at
St Combs to the northern end of the RSPB Loch of
Strathbeg nature reserve provide a great vantage point for
scanning the sea. Join an Aberdeenshire Council Ranger
and the RSPB to find out about some of the cetaceans in
the area, what to look for and how to record them. No
guarantees, but fingers crossed, that we see some of
these spectacular creatures – dolphins, porpoise and even
Minke whales! There’ll also be plenty of other wildlife on

Cullen Bay Car Park. 11am-5pm. A 7 mile walk along a
beautiful stretch of coastline, journeying between cliff top
and shore. Bustling bird life and coastal wildflowers
abound, with seal and dolphin sightings always a
possibility. Bring a packed lunch for our stop overlooking
the historical Findlater Castle. Stout footwear is essential
as much of the coastal path is very narrow and can be
quite uneven in places

Stranded Sand Creature - There’s a Giant on the beach
again!
Ladies Bridge (beach footbridge) Cruden Bay. 10-11am.
All hands on deck to help build the biggest sand creature
possible. Then gather some of nature's treasures which
have been washed up on the shore to decorate our giant
sand sculpture. Bring a bucket and spade , and a friend
or two, to see if we can make it bigger than last year
