Meeting 1
Lesson: My world: planet, county, community.
Common Core Standards:
7.1.3.B. Identify and locate places and regions as defined by
physical and human features.
7.2. Physical Characteristics of Places and Regions
7.2.3.A. Identify the physical characteristics of places and regions
Objective(s): Students will learn where their community is located in the
world, as well as geographic features of the globe.
Procedures:
1) The teacher will students to write the name of their planet, their
continent, their country and community. (Do Now)
2) The teacher will ask the students to explain in their own words what is
a planet, continent, county, and a community.
3) The teacher will model how to respond to a question in a complete
sentence.
4) The students will answer questions from the board in a complete
sentence in order to demonstrate their understanding of where on
Earth is their community.

Procedures:
1) The teacher will review previously taught lesson
2) The students will engage in an interactive activity regarding the
information gained in the lesson 1.
3) The teacher will show students a globe and a map and explain the
purpose of each.
4) The students will watch a brief video that explains the difference
between a planet, country, continent, and community.
5) The teacher will use the analogy of pieces of puzzle and how it all fits
to make a picture in the same way our planet, country, continent,
and community are pieces of our world that’s put together to show
the “Big Picture” of where we live in the world.
6) The teacher will do a “Ball Toss” CFU activity with students.
Grade 4
How Different Deserts Came Into Existence---presentation
Meeting 1
Lesson: How Deserts are Formed
Objective(s): The Students will be able to explain what elements of the
weather causes the deserts to form.
Procedures:
1) The students will write a sentence in their note books to describe how
they think deserts are formed.
2) The students will describe the landscape of the desert.
3) The teacher will define today’s vocabulary.
4) The teacher will show the student an explanation of how deserts are
formed.
5) The students will then answer the question for today’s CFU: explain
what elements of the weather causes the deserts to form.
Vocabulary: elements, landscape, formed, extreme, elevation, altitude,
evaporate, climatic conditions

Procedures:
1) The teacher will review previously taught lesson by asking the students
what they learned meeting 1.
2) The teacher will define today’s vocabulary.
3) The students will view a video which explains how deserts are formed
4) The students will compare and contrast information acquired in the
written presentation in meeting 1 and the video presentation of
meeting 2.

Meeting 1
Lesson: The physical features and natural history of the Arabian Peninsula
Objective(s): The students will be able to describe the physical features and
natural history of the Arabian Peninsula.
Procedures:
1) The teacher will preview today’s lesson by guiding the students to
answer any of the “Notebook Prep” questions as best they can using
prior knowledge.
2) The teacher will show the students an image of a peninsula and
define the word.
3) The teacher will guide today’s reading on pages 11-13.
4) The students will write the answers to the lesson’s question in their
notebook.
Vocabulary: physical features, natural history, peninsula, environment, GCC,
oil reserves, topography
Meeting 2
Lesson: The physical features and natural history of the Arabian Peninsula
(continues)
Objective(s): The students will be able to describe the physical features and
natural history of the Arabian Peninsula.
Procedures:
1) The teacher will review previously taught lesson by asking the
students what they learned meeting 1.
2) The teacher will review previous and define today’s vocabulary.
3) The students will view pictures and vocabulary words for today’s
reading.
4) The teaching will guide today’s reading on pages 14-16.

week’s WO due to the fact that we are behind schedule due to the two days
we were out on 10/2 and 10/3. The lessons will used as a review for those
classes that are currently on schedule.
