Headteacher’s Remarks
As we approach the assessment week, I would like to wish all our students the best of luck and ring a reminder on our academic focus that each
student works at attaining a credit pass in all the subjects. Students who attain less than the required number of credit passes will receive a letter
of concern where a conference involving the child, the parent and myself will be necessary in coming up with intervention measures. Before closing
school, Year 8 and 9 will sit the online MiDYIS baseline assessment while Year 10 will sit the YeLLIS one. These will help the student, the parent and
the teacher in tracking performance against a Minimum Target Grade [MTG]. I wish to congratulate all the students who participated in the Kasarani
Athletics today for their discipline and commitment throughout their training. Further, I wish to applaud, Mr. Musee and his team for preparing our
debate team to the final battle ground and in deed all the teachers for the great work they are doing in the classroom.

On Thursday, the school’s debate team went to Brookhouse for the
final debate in the Rhino Cup Challenge. We were opposing the motion “Harmony is more important than diversity” against Aga Khan
Academy. By the time the results were announced, the whole audience was in shock as we emerged second. All in all, it was an amazing yet a challenging experience that has by far increased our confidence and eloquence in speech. Our peers present, showed a great
sense of support as they cheered us on. Hopefully, more students
will be interested and involved in next year’s debate. Next term we
have the Inter-house senior debate contest, and our winners from
the contest should represent the school come September 2017.

For the past two Wednesdays the Year 12 Community Service has visited the Giraffe Center based in hardy. We have carried out a variety of activities: A cleanup of the park, Tree planting, Gathering different methods to improve recycling habits near the park, and sharing ideas on how to stop the current menace there is of littering the paths. We got a rare chance to socialize with the inhabitants and
bond with them. And as we can see below some bonded a lot more than others.

Hallo, my names are Luqman Shezad, I’m in year 9, I joined Nairobi Academy
in the year 2014 in year 7. Teachers here are very kind and friendly and willing
to help in every possible way. My best subjects are Math and ICT because they
are very practical and interesting. My best sport is football, I play in the U15
team, I enjoy scoring hat-tricks and winning for such an amazing school.

My name is Savaan Syan and I am currently in year 10, I have been in Nairobi
academy for 8 years and counting. It has been an experience and a journey,
from the teachers to the students i have learnt quite a number of things, this
school has helped me improve all my skill sets because of how nurturing the
teachers are. Before I came here I never knew I had an artist in me!
Kesho Amahoro
Kesho Amahoro is a wonderful play it has been a transforming experience during the rehearsals which
has given me confidence to act in front of an audience. It’s a real thrill where I’m acting as one of
Kasulu’s street Kids. I would like to urge everyone to come and watch the play and bring friend.

We had an e x c i t i n g competition at the
Kasarani stadium during the 2016 inter school athletics. Our team of 52 athletes were able to improve their personal best times in the highly competitive meet which saw 6 athletes qualify to the
finals. We look forward to maintaining the tempo
and posting greater results next year. Thank you

We hosted the annual MFL Inter-School Verse Speaking
Competition on 19th November. This year, ten schools took
part and the competition was competitive than before. The
rains really poured but luckily, all schools were able to attend. The invited judges did a great job and gave very important feedback. We managed to do well and clinched a
few awards. We would like to thank all participants and
students who helped in ushering, making posters and registration and the teachers for helping prepare the students.
