Menu Covers & Care
Keep Your Menus Looking Good!
-Adapted from Menu Solutions
Your menu is one of the most important sales tools
for your business. Here are some tips to extend the
life of your menu jackets.
1. Do not spray with ANY TYPE of harsh
chemical cleaners such as Formula 409, Windex
or Bleach. Chemical products will break down components of the vinyl and fabric; causing
them to yellow and deteriorate.
2. Do not run through the dishwasher or
submerge in water.
3. Wipe gently with a damp (not soaked) cloth that has been treated with a small amount of diluted mild dish detergent or hand soap.
4. Make sure the covers are folded properly before storing.
5. Store menus loosely in upright containers that are lined at the bottom with a foam panel. Do not “drop” into wooden menu holder with no lining
or support at the bottom.
6. Do not overstuff menu jackets.
7. Keep enough menus on hand to be able to rotate them regularly. If servers/hostesses are grabbing
the same 25 covers from the top and using them
repeatedly, those covers will deteriorate at a much
faster rate then those being used less frequently.
Following these tips will help you get more quality use
from your menu jackets. If you find that it is time to
upgrade your current jackets; Maplevale Farms has
a wide variety of styles and colors to choose from.
Please inquire with your Maplevale Farms Sales
Representative.

with your patrons. The increasing presence of smart

establishment before they commit to a decision to visit.
Volume 1 / Issue 1
June 2012
There are nearly 600 million active users on Facebook worldwide. About 50% of them log
on to the site daily. Ages 18-34 comprise about half
of those users, but the largest growing segment is 55
and over. Facebook will allow you to have a constant
presence on the internet. You can add detailed contact
information, events, daily specials and photos if you
wish. A Facebook page will also allow fans to “like”
your page and share it with their friends.
By comparison, there are approximately 190
million users of Twitter. Twitter is used to
transmit small snippets of information (tweets), just
140 characters or less, and must be updated frequently
to be seen by your “followers”. It allows you to share
information quickly with a large audience. Most users
of Twitter are in the under age 35 bracket.
Fousquare is another option. Foursquare allows your patrons who have the app to “check-in” at
your business. You will can set up promotional offers
which would be activated when a customer checks in
at your location. Foursquare has an approximate reach
of 6 million users; mostly in the 18-30 demographic.
As users of Foursquare “check-in” at different locations
they earn points and badges. The locations that they
have visited are shared with their list of friends.
There are a growing number of ways to get involved
in social media and most are at no cost to you. It is
important to research which will work the best for
your place of business and make the commitment
to keep your information fresh and up to date.

Which Free Program is Best For You?
-Adapted UniPro Operator’s Guide
Social media has much to offer in a free way to connect
with your patrons. The increasing presence of smart
phones and similar tech gadgets is allowing customers
and potential customers a means of researching your
establishment before they commit to a decision to visit.
