Dixon, Kansas Humanities Council Kansas City has had a long history of winning baseball, including the Kansas City Monarchs who revolutionized the game. Phil S. Dixon, a co-founder of the Negro Baseball Museum, authored many books about baseball and was an expert on the Monarchs. He has interviewed over 500 former Negro League players and family members and will explore the exciting early barnstorming days of the Monarchs. Speaker: Melvin Neufeld, Kansas Human Rights Commission Mr. Neufeld spent more than 25 years in service to the State of Kansas, and is a strong advocate of health care and early childhood development issues. He was instrumental in obtaining funding for the Kansas Human Rights Commission to establish its highly successful voluntary mediation program with Kansas Legal Services in the mid1990’s.
