Blaine New York chose and a Republican, insulting the Irish and the Democrats won Grover was a fan of the Laissez Faire policy and capitalism, he named to former confederates to his cabinet, and wanted to add thousands of people to the military pension list. In 1881 treasury had a surplus of 145 million, and in 1887 Cleveland wanted to lower the tariff. Democrats were disappointed with the candidates but the Republicans were getting PUMPED UP!
