2 GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
2.1 The Main screen
When the software is started, it will open the main screen. It consists of several blocks and/or
subwindows, which are identified in the following picture:
These different blocks will be discussed in the next paragraphs, here are already the main menu
functions:
Body Wizard: open a window to provide all client data (anthropometry)
Open File: open a previously recorded measurement
Switch to Live Stream: switch back to the live stream of the Idoshape
sensormat
Change R-Leaf Settings: open a window to adjust the support of the RLeaf base
Save the current frame: open a window to add the current frame to the
measurement

2.2 Body wizard window
To analyze the support, the software needs to know about the anthropometrics (body dimensions)
of the client. Therefore the Body Wizard function can be called by clicking on the appropriate
button in the Upper Menu.
•
•
•
The clients name can be added by clicking in the upper region of the window.
The gender can be changed by clicking on the corresponding icon.
The dimensions (height, shoulder width, waist width and hip width) can be adjusted by
moving the grey dots on the abstract representation of the client, while the weight can be
set by clicking and pulling or pushing on the numbers next to the weight symbol.
2.3 Idoshape calibration
Each time a new person is entered, the software will ask to recalibrate the Idoshape sensormat.
Make sure that nobody is on the mattress surface and that it is nice and flat, then press ‘Yes’.

2.4 The posture wheel:
The posture wheel is used to indicate the posture the client is currently
adopting. This is used by the software to set the default search locations for
the anatomical landmarks and to calculate the score for the current posture
and r-leaf setting.
2.5 The Idoshape measurement window
The idoshape measurement window contains a 3D graphical representation of the surface
deformation of the Idoshape sensormat, which is located in the comfort layer of the top mattress.
The image can be rotated by left-clicking (without releasing) on the image and pulling in a
direction.
The colors indicate different levels of indentation: white (no indentation), blue, green, red, yellow
(maximal indentation).
2.6 The 2D cross section window
The software automatically determines the location of the shoulder, waist and hip point in the
surface deformation map based on the provided anthropometrical data and the current posture
(indicated by the posture wheel). The 2D cross section window shows the cross section of the
mattress through these points.
At each point a corresponding zone is defined and the maximal (or minimal in case of the waist)
indentation is represented, as well as the difference indentation between two neighboring zones.

Under the 2D cross section, a representation of the current settings of the R-Leaf modules can be
found (the filled boxes indicate the current setting of the corresponding module).
2.7 Adjust the R-Leaf settings (Settings)
The control window for the R-Leaf module settings can be called by clicking on the settings button
in the lower menu.
In this window a number of sliders are available to adjust each module individually, and one for
moving all modules together. The adjustment can be done by moving the red indicator on a
specific slider, or by clicking on the plus (+) and minus (-) signs above and below each slider.
In the upper right corner an indicator is present to show if the software is connected to the R-Leaf
system (green) or not (red).
In the lower right corner and indicator is present to show if the R-Leaf system has reached all the
requested settings
In between these two indicators two additional buttons are available:
•
to adjust the serial port (used by the software to connect to the R-Leaf system)
•
to save and recall predefined settings of the different modules

3 USING
THE
R-LEAF
SYSTEM
3.1 Perform a measurement
Each measurement file consists of different information blocks:
•
A description of the customer (anthropometric profile)
•
A number of frames capturing the surface deflection (idoshape measurement) together
with a description of the measurement conditions (R-Leaf settings, score, remarks)
Therefore, the first step for each measurement is to provide the anthropometric of your customer.
This is achieved by running the body wizard (see §2.2)
After this step, the software will ask if the Idoshape sensormat needs to be calibrated. Make sure
that nobody is on the mattress surface and that it is nice and flat, then press ‘Yes’.
Next, the customer can take place on the mattress in the posture of his (her) choice. Please
indicate the adopted posture with the posture wheel (§2.4), as this will influence the recognition of
the main anatomical landmarks in the deformation surface.
Adjust the settings of the R-Leaf system by the R-Leaf control window (Settings: §2.7)
As soon as the system has reached the desired setpoints, a measurement frame can be added to
the measurement by clicking on the ‘Measure’ button. This will pop up a control window similar to
the R-Leaf control window, but this time a score and some remarks can be added as well.
This step can be repeated as many times as wanted to add multiple frames where the customer
adopts other postures, or where different settings of the R-Leaf system are applied.
These measurement frames will appear in the ‘Measurement List’ section (at the left hand side
of the main window, §2.1).

3.2 Recall a previously recorded measurement
To recall a previously recorded measurement, please click on the ‘Open File’ button in the upper
menu (§2.1).
The software will load the file and show the anthropometric data into the ‘Client data’ section, and
the available frames into the ‘Measurement List’ section. The details of the last frame will be
used for the Idoshape sensormat and 2D cross section.
Please note that upon loading of a previously recorded measurement, the Idoshape sensormat is
no longer streaming data to the screen. This can be switched back on again by pressing the ‘Live
Stream’ button in the upper menu (§2.1).
Once the Idoshape sensormat is activated again, new frames can be added to this file again.
3.3 Compare different frames within one measurement
A reference frame is toggled by clicking on the triangle in front of the frame ID in the
‘Measurement List’. This will color the triangle red if this frame is the reference frame, and the
results will appear in the middle of the screen.
Please note that as with the opening of an existing datafile, the Idoshape sensormat is no longer
streaming data to the screen, which can be activated again by clicking on the ‘Live Stream’ button.
Next a second frame can be chosen, by clicking anywhere on the measurement frame in the list
(exept for the triangle), and the results for this frame will appear under the reference frame.

An overview of all the results, including the frames from the ‘Measurement List’ can also be
printed by clicking on the appropriate button in the upper menu.
