Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi (Sitar): Dhrubesh Regmi is a rare
exponent of the sitar, belonging to the fourth generation of the
illustrious musical family of Nepal. He honed his skills under the
tutelage of his father, Prof. Satish C. Regmi. He also took lessons
from renowned personalities in India, including the legendary
maestro Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra. Dhrubesh completed his Ph.D.
from Delhi University and became the first musician to hold the
music Ph.D. degree in Nepal. An Associate Professor at Tribhuvan
University, Dhrubesh is now a respected name in the field of
music in Nepal. He is also a recipient of various prestigious
awards, including his appointment as the "Goodwill Ambassador
for Nepal Tourism Year 2011". He is one of the founder members
of popular classical and Nepali folk musical group Sukarma. He
has performed in many parts of the world and has published
numerous audio and visual compact discs. Dhrubesh is currently
a Fulbright Scholar at the Graduate Center of the City University
of.New.York.

Steve Gorn (Flute/ Bansuri): Steve Gorn, whose flute is said to
‘re-align the cells,’ is featured on the 2011 Grammy winning
recording, “Miho – Journey to the Mountain,” with the Paul
Winter Consort, as well as the Academy Award winning
documentary film "Born into Brothels," He has performed Indian
classical music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and
festivals throughout the world. Well-known to audiences in
India and the west, he is one of the few westerners recognized
to have captured the subtlety and beauty of Indian music. His
CD, Luminous Ragas, is a landmark recording of music for yoga.
Recent recordings include Rasika, with tabla by Samir Chatterjee,
and Illuminations, with the Nepali flutist Manose.

Phiroj Shyangden (Guitar): Phiroj is the main vocalist song
writer and guitarist of the highly popular Nepali musical band
1974 AD. He has performed and taught in the US for the last four
years. He has also performed extensively abroad and won the
hearts of his listeners by his playing skill. He has published many
CDs and currently working on his new solo music album.

Naren Budhakar (Tabla): Naren is a student of the Delhi and
Farukabad style of tabla. He performs extensively in the US and
has accompanied many prominent vocalists, instrumentalists,
and dancers, including Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, Pandit Barun
Kumar Pal, and Pandit Krishna Bhatt. His gurus include Shabbir
Nissar, the son of the legendary tabla master Ustad Shaikh
Dawood, and Pandit Samir Chatterjee. He contributes his tabla
skills to a variety of world music projects.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, takes place at
7 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in the Segal Theatre,
Graduate Center of the City University of New York, 365 Fifth
