This is a great unit and we love seeing what their creative minds can come up with. Some of the poetry may have a serious tone, while others may be funny. Science We have been working on our Matter and Molecules unit. Students have been studying matter. Students have been exploring various states of matter (solids, liquids, and gases) and how molecules behave and arrange themselves within these different states. They have conducted a few experiments too. They have made two substances, Oobleck and Gak. They were able to draw conclusions regarding these substances, deciding on their state and if they went through physical or chemical changes. Be sure to check in with your child periodically to see what’s happening in science with their experiments. We will be ending the school year with a unit exploring energy, gravity, and forces. We Please send a 2-liter bottle to school with your child by the last week in May. If we don’t collect enough we won’t be able to do this project. are hoping to make Soda Bottle Rockets the last week of school. We finished up Chapter 8 which has been on Statistics and Multiplication Equations. Students explored topics on histograms, box plots, and measures of central tendency. In Chapter 9 students will finish the year looking at volume of regular shapes and then work with percents as they learn how to calculate discounts, tips, and interest earned. Throughout the year, students have worked hard as mathematical thinkers as they dove into a new way of exploring and understanding math. While we struggled along the way, students have developed life-long skills as problem solvers and critical thinkers. Sensational Social Studies Where did the year go?
