Register by filling out the attached form and bring it to Kelly McIntosh, SLFNHA’s TB Educator and a registered dietician, at the Health Services Office (61B King Street) on Friday, February 7 for your first weigh-in. All weigh-ins are confidential and will take place every Friday until March 28. The winner will be whoever loses the highest percentage of weight (just like The Biggest Loser). See the registration page for full details. Entry fee is $10. There will be lucrative prizes for First Place (most percentage lost) and two runners up! And of course bragging rights and feeling slimmer in time for spring! Kelly McIntosh or a WWC Rep. will be on-site all day to weigh participants and accept registration forms. If you can’t make it and wish to set up a time to come in, this can be arranged by calling Kelly McIntosh directly (see contact information below). All Forms will be kept on-site in a confidential folder. All Weights and personal information will be strictly confidential. The only person who will know your weight is the person who weighs you in (Kelly McIntosh or a TB Nurse in cases where Kelly can’t be there). The only information shared with other WWC Reps, SLFNHA employees or the public is your percentage lost. Ie: Jane Doe lost 4.35 percent. Experts recommend a healthy weight loss goal of 1-2 lbs a week. Weigh-ins will occur on a weekly basis and can be arranged directly through Kelly McIntosh (737-4797 ext 211 or [email protected]). Examples: A) Initial Weigh-In: 210 lbs. Goal Weight: 200 Goal loss=10 lbs Goal Percentage= 10/210= 0.05 = 5% B) Initial Weigh-In: 167 lbs. Goal Weight: 160 Goal loss= 7 lbs Goal Percentage= 7/167=0.04 = 4% C) Initial Weigh-In: 306 lbs. Goal Weight 295 Goal loss= 11 lbs Goal Percentage= 11/306= 0.04 = 4% Participants must: a) Weigh-in once a week with a WWC Representative. Aim for a similar day and time, as well as similar clothes from the previous weigh-ins. b) Pay a $10 entry fee c) Agree to lose weight in a healthy manner (no extreme dieting! Please be kind to your body!) Please remember this is a 7-week challenge. Make your goals realistic and know that this is just the beginning! If you want advice on your goals, diet or exercise plan, please speak to Kelly when you weigh-in. She is also available each week during weigh-ins to answer your questions, direct you to resources and help you through the contest. The Workplace Wellness Committtee also has an email address setup for all participants ([email protected]). When you register, our IT department will add you to the group and you will receive regular tips & motivation, and can utilize this to contact other participants for support throughout the 7-week challenge.
