This is an example of Class 4’s Timetable. However, we have to be
very adaptable and each week it may change. (Swimming, trumpets
and PE will always be on the same day)
Page 2
Class 4 also have the opportunity to
learn to play a musical instrument. This
year it will be the trumpet. This is a
wonderful opportunity and all children
should try their best even if they
struggle at first. It is great fun!
Mr. Robertson will be giving out the
trumpets next week.
School linking project—Year 4 also
take part in a school linking project.
We are paired with Ripponden
Junior and Infant school. We
looking forward to meeting and
working with them.
The children will continue to learn
French. These lessons will be fitted
in to suit the needs of the class.

Newsletter
Welcome to Class 4!
Mrs. Cade/Mrs. Taylor/Miss Caulfield
Year 4 is an exciting and challenging year. We need to work together as
we take the next step along the learning ladder. Year 4 provides
opportunities that are only available at this stage in school. We will be
working hard but having fun. We will need your help and support every
step of the way. If you have any questions or worries, please do not
hesitate to speak to either myself or Mrs. Taylor.
The Curriculum
In Literacy, we will be learning to read
and write stories with historical settings.
We will be using books written by the
famous authors such as Michael Morpurgo.
We will then be investigating newspapers
recounts and learning how to write in the
style of a journalist. We will also be writing poetry and creating images.
In numeracy, we will be investigating numbers up to 1000, increasing numbers by
10 and 100, looking at shapes and their properties and learning about time. In all
areas, we will be solving problems. We will also be leaning and investigating the
multiplication tables. Please continue to practise them at home.
In science, we will be learning how the skeleton is related to movement and
support in humans and what happens to the skeleton and muscles as they move.
We will also compare bones and skeletons with those of other animals. After half
term we will be looking at how we can keep things hot and cold.
In RE, we will be learning about The Bible and after half term our topic is Trust in
God. We will be continuing to use The Way the Truth and the Life, as a starting
point for our work. We will also be celebrating Mass and coming together in
liturgies as a whole school and daily as a class. Please let us know if there is
anyone needing our prayers. Please come and join us and support us in our journey
of faith. Saying prayers at home is important too!
Book Bags should be
brought daily and
children should read
at home for 10-15
minutes each
evening.
Homework will be given
every Friday and is to
be returned the
following week (before
Wednesday). There will
be weekly spellings and
numeracy work.
In addition, there may
be some topic work, an
investigation or problem
solving exercise.
Big Maths will continue
every Tuesday. All
Key Stage 2 children
work in their ability
groups and may be
taught by a different
teacher. Each week, a
test is completed and if
they score highly 3
weeks in a row the
children will move up a
group.
Good luck!
