History
Normans, Anglo-Saxons, 1066: What was life like in Britain before
1066? Who had the strongest claim to the throne? Battle of Stamford
Bridge. Why did William, Duke of Normandy, win the Battle of
Hastings? What were the stages of the Battle of Hastings? What
problems did William Have?
Geography
Map work, Identify physical features (eg. river, sea, hill). How did these
influence where the battles took place?
Science
Forces: Recognise Sir Isaac Newton and his third Law of Motion;
Identify and label gravity and resistance forces; identify balanced and
unbalanced forces,; Explore parachutes and air resistance, identifying
enquiry questions for investigating effective parachutes; Investigate
how levers work and how the position of the fulcrum impacts on its
effectiveness; Explore gears noting how they help cyclists ride;
Investigate the effect of ground friction on the force needed to move
a toy car; Investigate and identify which shape of boat is best to beat
the water resistance of a river, offering an explanation

MATHEMATICS
Number – place value- Count forwards or backwards in steps of powers
of 10 for any given number up to 1,000,000; read and write numbers to
10,000,000, solving problems, rounding to the nearest 1,10,100 and 1000.
Addition and Subtraction – solve mental calculations, solve problems using
the 4 operations, add and subtract decimals
Multiplication and Division- Use estimation to check answers to
calculations and determine, in the context of a problem, an appropriate
degree of accuracy;
