HISTORY OF EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT
The p r o p e r t y i s l o c a t e d a t t h e 4,600 f o o t e l e v a t i o n on
t h e west s i d e n e a r t h e f o o t of the Toboggan Creek g l a c i e r ,
8 m i l e s northwest o f % i t h e r s .
The S i l v e r King and L a s t Chance c l a i m s , were l o c a t e d
p r i o r t c 1928 but d e t a i l s a r e l a c k i n g . The cleirns were
owned by J o e l l a t u s s , o f Telkwa. Development work, i n c l u d i n g open c u t s and a 90 f o o t a d i t , was c a r r i e d o u t p r i o r
t o 1932.

Both t h e v o l c a n i c and sedimentary r o c k s a r e i n t r u d e d by l i g h t c o l o u r e d q u a r t z - a l b i t e porphyry dgkes, most o f which range from
4 t o 1 0 f e e t i n width and from 500 t o 1 , 0 0 0 f e e t i n l e n g t h . One
o f t h e s e dykes, 7 f e e t i n w i d t h , i n t e r s e c t s t h e v e i n 15 f e e t
from t h e p o r t a l o f t h e a d i t , The dyke i s c l e a . r l y l a , t e r t h a n t h e
fissuring.
A t e l e v a t i o n 4,600 f e e t an a d i t h a s been d r i v e n 9C f e e t
a l o n g a q u a r t z - a r s e n o p y r i t e v e i n t h a t l i e s i n a s h e a r zone i n
massive a n d e s i t e s . The s h e a r zone i s exposed f o r ?GO f e e t up a
35-degree s l o p e and c o n t z i n s v e i n f i l l i n g f o r most of t h i s
d i s t a n c e . The v e i n s t r i k e s southwest and d i p s fro^ 50 t o 70
d e g r e e s southea,st.
A t t h e p o r t a l of t h e a d i t t h e shezred zone r a n g e s from 3 t o
4 f e e t i n width and c o n t a i n s a q u a r t z - a r s e n o p y r i t e v e i n 1 f o o t
wide. The-veiia c o n s i s t s o f about 4C p e r c e n t q u a r t z and 60 p e r

t h e hanging-wall s i d e o f t h e s h e a r e d zone. The l a t t e r v e i n
m a i n t a i n s a n a v e r a g e width o f 6 i n c h e s f o r 50 f e e t t o t h e f a c e of
t h e a d i t , and f o r t h i s d i s t z n c e l i e s a l o n g t h e hanging-wall s i d e
o f a s h e a r e d zone 15 i n c h e s wide. A 5-inch channel sample t a k e n
a c r o s s t h e q u a r t z - a r s e n o p y r i t e v e i n 40 f e e t from t h e p o r t a l
assayed: g o l d , 0.36 ounce a t o n ; s i l v e r , 0.05 ounce a t o n .
I n an open-cut a t eleva.tion 4,650 f e e t , t h e sheared zone i s
4 f e e t wide w i t h 1 2 i n c h e s on t h e hanging-wall s i d e r e p l a c e d by
a r s e n o p y r i t e . A t t h e n e x t open-cut, e l e v a t i o n 4,715 f e e t , t h e
m i n e r a l i z a t i o n ha,s changed. A l e n s c o n s i s t i n g of b l a c k s p h a l e r i t e and p y r r b o t i t e c u t by s t r i n g e r s o f c h a l c o p y r i t e o c c u r s a l o n g
t h e f i s s u r e d zone. The l e n s i s 30 f e e t l o n g , with an a v e r a g e
width of 6 i n c h e s . The a o d e s i t e wall-rock i s m i n e r d i z e d o v e r a
width o f s e v e r a l f e e t on e i t h e r s i d e o f t h e 30-foot l e n s by small
s t r i n g e r s o f s i m i l a r s u l p h i d e s . The bedrock i s washed c l e a n f o r
30 f e e t a t e l e v a t i o n 4,800 f e e t , and t h e r e t h e s h e a r e d zone i s 8
i n c h e s wide. A p a r a l l e l s h e a r e d zone 5 i n c h e s wide l i e s 1 2 f e e t
t o t h e s o u t h e a s t . Both a r e w e l l m i n e r a l i z e d w i t h a r s e n o p y r i t e ,
b u t a r e l e a c h e d and o x i d i z e d by s u r f a c e weathering. I n a n a t u r a l
exposure 100 f e e t f a r t h e r up t h e s l o p e t h e r e a r e t h r e e p a r a l l e l
s h e a r e d zones, 6 and 1 0 f e e t z p a r t , r e s p e c t i v e l y . They a r e each
3 i n c h e s i n width and c o n t a i n v e r y l i t t l e a r s e n o p y r i t e .
