CG Stangel PTO Minutes Meeting: February 4, 2016 Executive Board Members Present: Gen Uecker, VP Cari Larsen, Treasurer General Board Members: Tania Haile, Anna Beatty 2 additional Stangel moms joined us. Next PTO Meeting will be Mar. 3rd @ 5:00pm in the Stangel Library. Principal’s Report: Stangel had their quarterly, Super Star Way Assembly last week. The grade levels participated in a game of Wheel of Fortune. Students were picked randomly from the tickets students had received during second quarter. There were 3 puzzles solved: one for grades 1-3, one for grades 4-6, and a final one for the entire school. The PTO has approved a request for Walkie-Talkies for the building. They will be purchasing 6 of them for the office staff and playground supervisors. Each one is priced at $209. There was discussion about donating money for the classroom teachers to purchase books for their new literacy units (non-fiction / historical fiction). We tabled the discussion for now until we know how much money each grade level would like. Mrs. Staude would like a projector and we tabled this discussion also until we have more information regarding the cost. The PTO also made the decision to pay for the instructional staff (classroom teachers, specials teachers, and sp.ed. teachers) to have a yearbook. Mrs. Beatty updated the PTO on the sixth grade community service project. They raised $1,200 from their art auction and currently have a total of $1,710 raised. They would love to raise a total of $6,000 in order to purchase the dog park equipment from a manufacturer. They will be having the penny war starting on Feb. 15th and it will run until Mar. 4th. They also have a Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser on Feb. 22nd. The teachers have put in an application with the Parkland Dedication Fund in order to see if they will match their funds if the kids raise at least $3,000. There was a discussion about spring photos and we will not be having spring photos taken this year. K-kids offered to help with Bingo Night but it looks as though the PTO will have enough volunteers. Thanks you K-kids for the offer. The PTO is trying out “Sign Me up Genius” for finding / organizing volunteers for the teacher meals. They may use this for other events in the future if it works well.
