Postdoctoral Position in the IZKF
Research Group "Tissue Regeneration
in Musculoskeletal Diseases"
The Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) administers the
internal research funding of the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg.
Its major goal is to foster interdisciplinary cooperation between basic and
clinical research. The IZKF awards cooperative research grants, promotes
training and advancement of young scientists working in medicine and cofinances scientific infrastructure on-site.
The IZKF research group is affiliated with the Musculoskeletal Center
Würzburg (MCW), a regional network involving the Orthopedic Department
and the Orthopedic Hospital König-Ludwig-Haus, the Department of Trauma,
Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Clinic and Policlinic for
Plastic Facial, Mouth and Maxillary Surgery as well as the chairs for Tissue
Engineering and Regenerative Medicine together with Fraunhofer IGB, the
Department for Functional Materials in Medicine and Dentistry, the chair for
Technology of Material Synthesis and Fraunhofer ISC, the chair for
Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy and the research units of the
core clinical institutions. This interdisciplinary network focusses on diseaseoriented research in the field of musculoskeletal diseases, consisting of basic
research, translational development and clinical studies in patients.
The newly established research group for "Tissue Regeneration in
Musculoskeletal Diseases" led by Dr. Marietta Herrmann is part of the MCW
and associated to the orthopaedic department. In close collaboration with the
other MCW members, the emphasis of the group is on basic research into
regenerative mechanisms and the development of innovative cell therapies
for musculoskeletal tissue repair.
A postdoctoral position is available for 3 years for a highly motivated
individual interested in immunomodulatory effects of mesenchymal stem cells
(MSCs) and their role in tissue regeneration. This research question will be
addressed by in vitro and in vivo studies as well as by acquiring clinical data.
The position is paid according standard public service salary.
Your qualifications:
• PhD in cell biology, immunology or stem cell biology
• Training in standard techniques in cell culture, flow cytometry and
molecular biology
• Experience with animal handling (FELASA B certificate) would be of
advantage
Preference will be given to people with disabilities in the case of otherwise
equal aptitude. Applications including a short summary of your research
background (max. 1 page), CV and publication list, and the names of three
academic referees should be sent via email in one pdf-file by 12.03.2017 to
