Founded in 1972, Twin Oaks Christian School is an
accredited, private, Christian school located in
suburban St. Louis County. The school currently
serves 212 students enrolled in preschool through 8th
grade. Twin Oaks embraces a philosophy of caring
for the whole child which nurtures academic, social
and spiritual growth in a culture of grace-centered
relationship building.

As a ministry of Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church,
Twin Oaks Christian School is committed to glorifying
God by assisting Christian parents in the training of
their covenant children by providing excellence in
middle, elementary and early childhood education
from a Biblical and Reformed view.

Meet Our Lead Pastor
Dr. Russ St. John joined
the Twin Oaks staff in
Feburary of 2014.
After graduating from
Washington State
University, he earned
his Master of Divinity
at Covenant
Theological Seminary in St. Louis and a Doctor of Ministry
from Gordon Conwell Seminary. He
has pastored churches in Washington
and Pennsylvania, and has served as
an active duty Chaplain in the United
States Navy.

Head of school Description & Qualifications
The Twin Oaks Christian School (TOCS) Head of School (HOS) must be committed and seek to
carry out the mission/vision of TOCS. In addition, the HOS must possess the following
qualifications/characteristics within four key competencies:
Spiritual Leadership
Be a professing Christian with strong knowledge of Scripture, holding firm to a personal
doctrinal commitment, who believes the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, embraces Reformed
theology, and acknowledges that the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms contain
the system of doctrine taught in the Bible.
Display spiritual maturity and live an exemplary life as a follower of Christ, be above reproach,
and meet the character qualifications of an “overseer” as described in Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7;
Titus 1:7-9).
Model Christ-like behavior and spiritually shepherd faculty/staff, students, and the school
community.
Become an active, involved member of TOPC.
Possess ability to serve and co-labor alongside other TOPC ministry leaders in a collaborative
manner.
Model biblical submission to the authority and leadership of the church and will seek to protect
its peace and purity.
Possess the spiritual gift of leadership and a strong sense of God’s calling to serve as TOCS
HOS.
Administrative Leadership
Demonstrated experience and capabilities leading and directing the operations of an
educational organization (preferably as a HOS of a Christian school). Experience in
elementary and middle school education, administration, and teaching.
Preferably possesses advanced degree in Education/Administration, Ministry, Leadership, or
related field.
Embraces, and commits to, the mission, by-laws and guiding principles of TOCS.
A visionary leader with capabilities to assist the Board on the development and leading the
implementation of the school’s vision and long-range strategic plans.
An organized, effective leader who:
o attracts/retains, inspires, develops, and empowers highly qualified faculty/staff;
o creates a strong, dynamic team focused on the TOCS mission;
o cultivates a joyful, God-glorifying environment that embraces creativity, innovation, continuous improvement and the open exchange of ideas amongst the team.
Demonstrated ability to hold faculty/staff, students, and parents accountable to expectations in
a loving, grace-filled manner.
Ability to establish and maintain an organizational structure that enables effective and healthy
functionality of the school while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Possesses strong business acumen with ability to manage the school within the Board’s overall
goals, policies, and financial budget.

Possesses a high calling and commitment to the spiritual and academic development of
covenant children.
Demonstrated experience in education and classroom teaching.
Expertise in setting and achieving high standards of academic excellence.
Experienced at ensuring appropriate, high quality curriculum and educational programs based
on a Biblical worldview are established and routinely reviewed and refined.
Ability to successfully maintain Christian Schools International accreditation and implement the
school improvement plan.
Models continued professional development and life-long learning.
Relational & Community Builder
As the “face” of TOCS, must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the
ability to be an articulate, passionate champion and spokesperson for the school.
Effectively communicates relevant information in a timely, transparent manner to various
stakeholder groups.
A strong unifier who is gifted at building collaborative, trusting relationships with Board,
church, faculty/staff, parents, and supporters
Ability to build strong sense of community within school and church.
Ability to collaborate with and provide direction to the school’s Advancement and
Development Team for the purpose of promoting and growing the school.
