Bike Lending User Agreement
Bike Use Agreement:
 I understand that I am responsible for taking care of the bike and other college-owned equipment while in my
possession.
I agree to immediately report any damage to or theft of the bike to Office of Public Safety (607-871-2108) and
to the Bike Lending Office. Without a Public Safety report, I understand that I am liable for the full cost of repair or replacement.
I agree to return the bike, lock, and helmet before the agreed-upon deadline to the Bike Lending Office.
I understand that if any replacement or repair costs will be billed to my student account.
I agree to lock my bike at all times.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK, INFORMED CONSENT, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND AGREEMENT TO INDEMNIFY
I, the undersigned, do indemnify and hold harmless Alfred University, its students, employees and all associated subsidiaries from and against any and all claims, liability, losses, third party claims, damages, costs, or expenses
(including attorney’s fees) arising out of or resulting from my use and participation in the AU Bike Lending program. I
understand that the use of a bicycle may result in serious injury or even death, and willingly accept these terms as an
agreement of use. The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather,
physical condition of user, equipment, vehicular traffic, and actions of other people. I hereby assume all of the risks
of participating in this initiative. I realize that liability may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous or defective equipment or property owned, maintained or controlled
by them or because of their possible liability without fault.
I certify that I am physically fit and have sufficient knowledge of vehicle and traffic safety laws. I also understand that
it is recommended that all users wear a helmet. I understand that if I believe the bike needs to be repaired, I will walk
the bike back to the Bike Lending Office in Davis Gym, and complete a repair tag.
I understand that the opportunity to participate in the AU Bike Lending program is completely voluntary.
By borrowing a bike, I agree to be held financially responsible if the bike is damaged or stolen. Any person borrowing
a bike not returned in the condition that it was issued will be charged an appropriate repair fee. Stolen bikes must be
reported within one week of the theft to the AU Bike Lending Program as well as the Office of Public Safety. If I do
not return the bike, I will be assessed a replacement charge not to exceed $350.00 to my student account.
