The death of Maria Frances, the youngest daughter of William Wilson ======================================== John Wilson = ? Mary B.1724 Richard B.1730 Elenor B,1732 John B.1743 Agnes B.1744 Susan B.1746 Richard Wilson, of Ballinacurra, the surveyor and his wife Frances had a daughter called Frances who married Richard Trousdell on the 3rd September 1824. [Court of Claims]. Frances, Richard Wilson’s wife, died on the 28th July 1857. 2 LGA of 16 Nov. 1819 Richard also had a 2nd daughter called Charlotte, born 1797, who shot herself to death in 1819 with one of her father’s pistols. A Richard Wilson was the father of Harriet Wilson who married George Gloster in 1792. Because of the generation gap of 32 years this Richard Wilson must belong to the previous generation of Wilson’s of Ballinacurra. The Georges St. Tontine Co. of 1807 Mentions a Richard Wilson, Surveyor, of Ballinacurra, deceased and his 2nd wife, Mary Harte also deceased. Their 3rd son Ralph Wilson was living at Merchant’s Quay and was 21 years old in 1806/7. Ralph was nominated a shareholder for the share, Uriel Harte, Cordwainer, had purchased. Ralph was therefore born circa 1785. This Richard’s second daughter Louisa married Christopher Adamson in Adare church on the 13th of Oct. 1829. Richard, the father, was dead before this wedding. Richard also had a daughter called Ann who died in 1826 at Bedford Row. Richard’s youngest son, Richard was born in 1812 but died in 1835 aged 23. Richard Wilson, Surveyor and his 2nd wife Mary Harte, both deceased, with 3rd son Ralph then aged 21 are in the 1808 Tontine List. Ralph was living at Merchants Quay. A Richard Wilson of Ballinacurra wrote his will in 1787. Samuel must be the Boot and Shoe manufacturer who owned 122 O’Connell St. and who left it to his nephew John Wilson Vokes. (Then known as 93 George’s St.) Another Richard died at his father’s house in Ballinacurra on the 26th Jan. 1799 aged 19. ? Therefore born in 1780. William Wilson was the next owner of Ballinacurra after Richard. He sold up in 1833 and moved to Spring Hill, near Doonass, Co. Clare. William’s wife Eliza died at Spring Hill in June 1841. 3 William Wilson of Ballinacurra married Eliza Trousdell, the daughter of John Trousdell of Fort, Co. Clare. (Limerick Chronicle 15 Feb. 1826.) Sarah Trousdell, William Wilson’s sister-in –law, sister of his wife Eliza, died at his Ballinacurra house in Jan. 1833. She was aged 29. Maria Frances Wilson, William Wilson’s then youngest daughter died at Ballinacurra in July 1829. He and his wife had a baby son in Jan. 1831. Limerick Chronicle of 5 June 1833. The house and lands and village of Ballinacurra were offered for lease or purchase in June 1833. Ralph Wilson, a Cromwellian officer seems to have been the first of the Wilsons to settle in Co. Limerick. From him descended the Wilsons of Caherconlish, Bilboa, Ballinacurra and Sixmilebridge in Co. Clare. Ralph Wilson was Mayor of Limerick in 1657, 1663, 1664, 1667 and 1668. Joseph Wilson was Mayor in 1722 and William Wilson was Mayor in 1733. A William Wilson of Athlacca left a Will dated 1720. Note: - A Cordwainer was a leather worker who worked with goatskins in the style used in Cordoba in Spain, hence the word Cordwainer. Samuel Wilson is recorded in the Limerick Trade Directories as a Boot & Shoemaker in 1824 at 4 Merchants Quay 1838 at George’s Street Ralph is recorded in the Limerick Trade Directories as a Boot & Shoemaker in 1824, ’38, ’40, ’46, and 1856 at 14 Patrick Street. Joseph Wilson was recorded once in 1809 as a Boot & Shoemaker. Did he pass on his business to Samuel and/or Ralph. Samuel Wilson passed on his business to John Wilson Vokes who was succeeded by his nephew William Wilson Vokes who died in 1879, leaving three daughters to succeed him. The business was carried on at 122 George’s St. It was put up for sale in 1885 and the lease for the premises was in new hands in 1886. Inchiquin Mss. Item 1426. Source: - Rosemary ffolliett’s Microfilm of B.D.M.’s in the City Library Edward Warter Wilson of Bilbo died 15th Feb. 1762 at Dungarvan. [The Peerage.Com] He was married to Frances Anne Evens, daughter of George Evens, 2nd Lord Carbury. His daughter Frances Juliana Warter Wilson, a minor, was his heir. She married John Rous in 1788 but died, soon after, giving birth to a daughter Frances Ann Juliana Rous, on the 10th of May 1790. Rous was or became Earl of Stradbrooke and it’s under this Title that he or his heirs are found in Griffiths Valuation of 1850. Miss Margaret Wilson daughter of Ralph Wilson, late of Bilboa, married Henry Cole Bowen of Annabilla on the 14th Jan. 1760. 6 William Wilson of Caherconlish married Nelly Massy daughter of Hugh Massey, of Stoneville on the 20th Aug.1770, at Limerick. The marriage took place on the 12th of Feb. 1824. This has to be Ralph, the Boot and Shoe maker from the Trade Directories. He was a member of the committee set up for the Improvement of St. Michael’s Parish and is frequently mentioned in the Minute Books.
