The hamster had a propeller hat and he flew all the way to the top of Blackpool Tower. He went to the Pleasure Beach and had great fun on the roller coaster. When he was on the ‘Pepsi Max’, he was eating an ice-cream and it caused chaos with all the other passengers. The hamster was called Abu. Aaron wrote about his naughty dog as he has lots of accidents and disasters. He wrote about the time he ate a whole corn on the cob and how he likes to eat fences! He loves to eat shoes and socks. Lyla wrote about going camping and the adventures that she had. She described the setting for her adventure in great detail and wrote over 2 pages. The School’s Recorder Club: The ‘Recorder Group’ has been working very hard over this term and they have been pleased to welcome some new players. The children are adept in the playing two scales (C and D) and they often use this as a warm-up activity. Learning to play ‘My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean’ has proved to be challenging as the children had to learn how to reach top E. However, with perseverance and lots of practice, they can now play this confidently. The ‘Recorder Group’ has also been working to support the Rock Band with their performance of Michael Jackson’s ‘Black or White’. They had to learn to play a musical phrase that included F≠ and Aь. The School’s Drumming Group: This term the Drumming Group are performing to Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran. They are practising rhythmical skills, which provides a link to Numeracy as they are counting in fractions, also solo skills, working as a team and most of all building confidence and having fun! 7 The School’s Art Club: Fantastic Beasts in the style of Matisse: The children were asked to produce a design inspired by deep sea creatures and mythical beasts. We then explored the work of Henri Matisse using a technique called Paper Cut-out which he used in the last decade of his life at a time when he was confined to a wheelchair. Pupils then used this technique to produce a Paper Cut-out version of their design. The School’s Guitar Group (Beginners): During the Spring Term, pupils in the Guitar Group rehearsed their guitar skills in preparation for the Merit Assembly at the end of term. The children practised cords and played along to music tracks as a group and as solo artists. The children have enjoyed practising along to Ghostbusters and Songbirds. The School’s Guitar Group (Advanced): During the Spring Term, pupils in the Guitar Group rehearsed their guitar skills in preparation for the Merit Assembly at the end of term. The children practised cords and played along to music tracks as a group and as solo artists.
