The days leading up to our break were hectic. I would like to
thank all who attended and performed in our Winter Concert and
Holiday Sale.

TROWBRIDGE STUDENTS SELL OVER $4700 DOLLARS WORTH OF GOODS
FOR PINE RIVER FUNDRAISER!!!
On behalf of the Trowbridge PTA, THANK YOU to all the families that participated in December’s Pine River Fundraiser. With
your help we sold over $4,700.00 worth of merchandise; half of which will go directly to the PTA!!! Trowbridge couldn’t offer the
many experiences we do without the energy and heart that our teachers, staff, and volunteers pour into every day! Now with
the proceeds you’ve helped us collect, the PTA has the means to give back to these individuals that do so much!

Simple ways to help your child learn vocabulary
Hello, Parents and Families!
One challenge facing all parents is in how to help their
students most effectively learn academic vocabulary -words that are commonly used in instruction related to
specific school subjects. Don't worry! Every month, we are
going to include one simple strategy in this parent
newsletter that you can use at home with your child to
help make the process of learning new vocabulary easier
for your child.
This month, we'd like to recommend a strategy
outlined by Colorin Colorado on the Reading Rockets
website: (http://www.readingrockets.org/article/vocabularydevelopment-ells). They suggest asking your child to share
new vocabulary words with you in a way that is meaningful
to your student: Do they like to paint? Have them paint out
what the word means. Do they like to sing? Ask them to
make up a song that explains the new word. Having your
child take the time to explain the word to you in a new way
will help them understand the word more deeply, and will
help them remember it, too.
If you have any questions about how to help your child
with their school work at home, please ask your child's
teacher! We are always excited to share strategies and tips
with parents. In the meantime, have fun discussing new
words with your child!

Hola Padres y Familias!
Uno de los retos que tenemos como padres es como
podemos atudar a nuestros hijos a mejorar mas
efectivamente nuestro Vocabulario Academico, palabras
que son usadas comunmente en nuestras instrucciones en
alguna especifica clase. No se preocupen! cada mes en
nuestra carta mensual para Padres incluiremos una
especifica y simple estrategia que ustedes podran utilizar
con sus hijos para ayudar en el proceso de aprendizaje de
vocabulario que sea mas sencillo para su hijo.
Este mes me gustaria presentar esta estrategia en linea
por Colorin Colorado on the Reading Rockets website:

nuevo vocabulario de palabras contigo en una forma con
un sentido para tu estudiante ejemplo: te gusta pintar? As
con el la accion de pretender pintar. Te gustaria cantar?
Dile que invente una cancion y que explique la nueva
palabra aprendida para incluirla en su nuevo vocabulario
de palabras eso ayudara a entender y memorizarlas
tambien.
Si usted tiene alguna pregunta en como ayudar a su hijo
con alguna de las tareas en casa asegurece de mantener
contacto con su maestra! Siempre estamos muy
emocionados de compartir experiencias e ideas con
nuestros padres. En tiempo eventual pasaremos buen
tiempo discutiendo nuevas palabras con su hijo!.
FREE DENTAL CLEANING & SEALANTS AT SCHOOL!
Dear Trowbridge Parents/Guardians,
This winter Preferred Dentistry of Wisconsin is offering our students free dental services here at school during the
school day. The services are completely free and open to all Trowbridge students regardless of whether or not the
student has dental insurance. Hygienists will provide the following services:
• Examination and documentation of existing restorations and decay (you will get a note home identifying
concerns)
• Dental cleaning and fluoride application
• Application of sealants to unsealed first and second molars
Please complete and return the “Seal a Smile” consent form as soon as possible. If you need another form, they are
available in the main office. This service is scheduled to take place on February 2nd.

night.

The movie will be watched in the Trowbridge School Gymnasium on the third Floor
