RULES FOR RETA STEEL MEMORIAL TROPHY
Competition: Reta Steel Memorial Trophy
Eligibility:
All male and female members with a current official NZGA handicap.
Format:
Mixed Canadian Foursomes Stableford. Teams of two players, one male and
one female, who play alternate strokes with one ball for 18 holes Stableford.
Both players tee off at every hole then select the preferred ball to play out the
hole with alternate strokes, the player who did not play the selected tee shot
playing the second stroke,etc. Penalty strokes incurred do not affect the order
of play, but are added to the score at the end of the hole. Play out of turn
incurs a penalty of two strokes and the error must be corrected by replaying
by the correct player. If it is necessary to take a ‘drop’ for any reason, the
player whose turn it is to play next must drop the ball.
Handicap: Handicap stroke allowance is calculated by adding together the
Course Handicap of both players (Men’s Blue and Women’s Yellow),
calculating 40% of the combined total and rounding (if necessary) to the
nearest whole number. Handicap strokes and the par for each hole will be
taken from the Men’s Blue Course card. Only the male player need print a
card.
Example of handicap calculation: 23 + 19 = 42 x 4 = 168 ÷ 10 = 16.8
becomes 17.) The Handicap Index and Course Handicap for both players
must be shown on the scorecard.
The winning team will be that with the highest total Stableford. In the event of
a tie the Trophy will be shared and any associated prizes decided by
countback.
Prizegiving will take place as soon as possible following completion of the
event.
Tees:
Men Blue, Women Yellow.
Entry:
Players are to choose their own opposite sex partner. Both names are to be
entered on the start sheet and the entry fee of $5 per player paid before play
commences. Both names are to be clearly printed on the scorecard with full
handicap details to facilitate checking. There will be a start sheet at the Shop
for players to enter their names within the allotted time frame.
Disputes:
(if any) must be reported to, and will be dealt with under the Rules of Golf by the
Match Committee at the end of play (and in any event prior to results being
announced)
