These elastomers exhibit superior abrasion resistance, high tear strength, excellent load bearing ability and good toughness. The types of Prinzthane available are booth TDI and MDI with polyester, polyether, and polycaprolactone. To calculate the desired amount of any curative for any Prinzthane Prepolymer, the following formula may be used: Those types are: 2- Polyether PTMEG T = TDI 3- Polyester M= MDI 4- Poly Capralactone Q = Quasi For example: 3MQ = Polyester MDI Quasi Processing Guide (%NCO)( eq.wt curative)(%theory ) 4201 = Amount of curative per 100 parts of Prinzthane Propolymers. Example: Prinzthane NCO =4.2% Curative = MBOCA eq.wt = 133.5 %theory = 90 (4.2)(133.5)(90) 4201 = 12 Parts MBOCA per 100 Parts Prinzthane Prepolymer Melt Procedure For Prinzthane Prepolymers Prinzthane Prepolymers are booth liquids and solids depending on the type. Solid prepolymers and those liquid that were exposed to cold temperatures and frozen can be safely melted by using warming devices such as ovens, warming blankets, and drum heaters. Caution should be taken so as not to cause localized overheating. The time it takes to melt a solid Prizethane Prepolymer is as follows: Equivalent weights of some typical curatives 1.4 Butanediol 45 Ethacure 300 107 HQEE 99 Lonzacure M-CDEA 188.6 With a warming temperature of 60°C (140 °F): MBOCA 133.5 1 gallon can 1-2 hours TMP 44.7 5 gallon can 7-9 hours 55 gallon drum 35-40 hours To ensure homogenelty after melting, the containers should be rolled. Original unopened containers do no need to be vented prior to melting. If vented however a drying tube with a moisture indicator should be used to prevent moisture contamination. Moisture contamination can cause a loss of NCO reactivity, stability, and mechenical properties of the final elastomer. Toxicity Prinzthane are isoyanate terminated prepolymres and as such should be handled with care. Avoid breathing of vapors and skin contact. Use proper ventilation and PPE. MSDS's are available for each product and should be consulted before using Prinz Polymer
