Dry fuse – type M-2 M-3 Code / 27011 Code / 27013 Dry fuse – type M-2 M-3 for machine ACETYLENE, PROPANE-BUTANE, NATURAL GAS AND OXYGENE cutting torches Application Dry flame-protection fuses applied to the M-2 and M-3 machine cutting torches are used for the protection of machine cutting equipment and the cutter itself from reverse flame-blow. They are only attached to machine cutting torches – to each gas supply line. They can be used while welding and acetylene, propane-butane, natural gas and oxygene cutting. M-2 and M-3 fuse operation features As soon as the gas enters the fuse, a non-return valve (1) opens and the gas continues to flow through a sintered insert (2) and cartridge carrier openings towards the machine cutting torch. Gas flow direction is shown with the arrow which can be seen on the fuse body. When the reverse flame-blow happens because of the explosion which occurs at that same moment, the pressure within the fuse increases. The pressure activates a non-return valve, closes it and prevents further gas flow through installations or bottles. The reverse flame-blow reaches the space between the sintered cartridge and fuse body, and while the gas flows through the sintered insert, it slowly cools down and, since the further gas supply is blocked, it goes out and prevents further spreading of the flame. In this way, the basic purpose of M-2 and M-3 fuses is put into effect. Maintenance The fuse should be exposed to a reverse flame-blow at least once a year. If the gas flow significantly slows down, the fuse should be replaced with the new one. All fuse repairs are performed exclusively by the manufacturer. Special remark Each fuse was tested with regard to its clamp susceptibility ( M-2 and M-3 – 10 bars ) and to at least three reverse flame-blows. A dry fuse – type M cannot replace a water fuse. The product was tested according to the JUS K.M
