Specialty Programs
Form: An Aligned Series
FORM, an Aligned Body Series
Foundational, Observational, Restorative Movement
A functional body has both yield (flexibility) and strength (force generation), come and create your sustainable body here. This education and skills
based series of classes is aimed at increasing functional flexibility, balance, strength and proprioception through alignment, stretching, and
strengthening movements. In these mindful movement classes you will gain a new sense of ownership of your body and movements and learn skills
to decrease pain, increase self-efficacy and acquire a new sense of control over your body and movement patterns. As you integrate the alignment
points and basic skills you will create greater balance, flexibility, coordination and strength. All classes will be floor/mat based and shoe-less, but
accommodation can be made to include those who need to work seated and in foot-wear. Learn to Mind your Body!
Level 1. Foundations: This is a mat based class, but will have seated components and can accommodate those who wish to work seated. We will
work on regaining lost ranges of motion and flexibility of hands, feet, neck, spine, and hips. The exercises will promote better body awareness, better
balance, greater understanding of your current physical boundaries and how to safely work through them, in addition to better flexibility and
strength. Great for those graduating out of physical therapy, recovering from illness or injury or those interested in creating better balance, range of
motion, and fundamental strength. Basic alignment and healthy joint position will be taught as well as functional, real life skills.
Level 2. Align: In this mat based alignment class we will gain a deeper knowledge of how to move better, work smarter and regain lost ranges of
motion through specific strength and flexibility exercises. This class is designed for a more active person interested in maintaining healthy joints and
a functionally strong, and flexible body. This is a great alternative or companion to Yoga and will use similar props to support working within your
current boundaries.
Level 3. Bodyweight: This strength and flexibility class will be a more challenging session for people interested in increasing coordination and control
in a whole body format. This will be a playful class working with props and body weight to explore a wide variety of movements, drawing on
locomotion, yoga, martial arts, and gymnastics to create a strong and flexible body.
