Periodic Table Project

What things do you encounter everyday that contain or are elements on the periodic table? We
are going to find out. Individually you are going to find objects in everyday life that represents
elements on the periodic table and collect pictures of them. Having 20 elements represented by
the time the project is due on Monday, November 23, 2015 will earn you an 80 percent. Every
additional element you get after 20 will take you up the grading scale. Having 40 elements
represented neatly and correctly will give you an A. Any after that will earn you extra credit.
Part of your grade will be neatness and appearance of your project. We will not formally take
time in class to work on this project.
Deadlines
November 10, 2015 Provide Mrs. D with a list of 40 elements and possible items you can
place on the table. Ex. Tin - (picture of) aluminum can

November 16, 2015 Provide Mrs. D with a picture of your drawn (lines and title) PT.

November 20, 2015 Provide Mrs. D with a picture of your PT containing all written
information (Element names, chemical symbols, atomic number,
average atomic masses.)

November 23, 2015 Project DUE COMPLETE (at least 40 boxes have a picture)

You will need:
A large piece of poster board (No smaller than 22 in(56 cm) X 28 in.(71 cm), which is
easily found in stores)
A black Sharpe permanent marker
A copy of a periodic table (There is one on the back cover of your textbook and one in your
agenda.)
Magazines, catalogues, food ads and other publications in which you can find pictures.

Printing a periodic table you find on the internet and placing the boxes on your table is
considered plagiarism.

Directions:
Neatly draw the periodic table and each individual square for the elements on your poster
board. Include the atomic number, the atomic mass, the chemical symbol, and the
element name. Leave space for your picture in each box.
Collect pictures to represent the elements, attach them securely to your board. Label each
picture with the name of what it is.
