Sandgate Primary News Newsletter 2 Friday 19th September 2014 www.sandgateprimary.co.uk Twitter: @Sandgateoffice Clubs started again this week and the wonderful weather has only added to the vibrant feeling around the school. This year we are offering more clubs than ever before with teaching staff giving their time to provide many extra-curricular opportunities to the children. The clubs on offer are: rugby, art, reading, outside explorers, hockey, netball, football, cooking, choir, karate, dance, gymnastics and jigsaw clubs with more to come next term. Interest from the children has been huge, however this does mean that some children were not given their first choice of club this term. These children will be prioritised when membership of the clubs is changed in subsequent terms. Our new style Meet the Teacher events took place on Wednesday and Thursday with a particularly high number of parents attending. The comments and feedback you left were overwhelmingly positive highlighting the pride the children took in showing you their learning and classroom (the cakes and biscuits the children made for you went down well too). We have read through the comments left in classrooms and are looking into implementing some of the suggestions such as time slots to reduce the numbers in class rooms and further information about the expectations in Year 6. Although all the staff and children would love air-con to be installed we are unable to provide that just yet! Thank you for your feedback and for such a high level of engagement with the school community; I look forward to it continuing throughout the year. Matthew Green, School Head Please ensure your Scholastic Book orders are received by Monday (22nd September) afternoon at the latest. Thank you to estate agents Burnap + Abel for donating a ‘Cool Crew’ CD rom about e-safety and staying safe outside school. Foundation would be most grateful for any donations of fancy dress costumes that children have grown out of. The ideal size of costume would be between 4-7 years old. Thank you.
