Diabetic foot masterclass Friday 14 June 2013 Weston Education Centre Kings College Hospital London This conference will focus on the vascularly compromised/ ischaemic patient. The importance of treating the patient rather than just the foot with the aim of decreasing mortality has been recognised, therefore we are looking at not only emphasizing the control of the ischaemic foot/lower limb, but also to stress the control of the other risk factors for ischaemia with a focus on the mortality of the patient rather than the morbidity of the foot. Contact: Christian Pankhurst Email: [email protected] or [email protected] Morning sessions will describe clinical testing and highlight the modern approaches to management, including: ▪ What to look for ▪ Clinical tests and diagnostics ▪ Acute and community management ▪ Vascular lab assessments ▪ Vascular surgery The afternoon sessions will address: ▪ General medical management of the patient holistically 1 ▪ Management of ischaemic pain ▪ Antibiotic management. Costs: the conference is free to attend and CPD points are available. 2. The Malvern Diabetes Foot Meeting. The organising Chairmen, Professor Andrew Boulton and Dr Gerry Rayman, were delighted with the over-whelming attendance at this year’s 14th Malvern Diabetic Foot Conference held in Malvern, UK from 9th – 11th May 2012 during which they welcomed 250 delegates from around the globe. The Malvern Diabetic Foot Conference is the longest standing international diabetic foot meeting held globally every other year. The current Conference will be the 14th meeting since its inception in 1986. This event brings together experts on the diabetic foot from up to 30 countries, predominantly North America and Western Europe and this meeting will undoubtedly be as popular as previous ones. The three day conference is designed to bring together physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, orthotists and nursing staff with a common interest in diabetic foot problems. To improve our understanding of this problem which represents one of the main causes for in-patient treatment amongst the diabetic population. In 2014 the conference will take place in Malvern on the 14th, 15th, and 16th May 2014.
