DAY 1 - Our Lady Queen of the World Parish

A DEVOTION TO
The Sacred Heart of Jesus
Matthew 11, 28 – 30
In His infinite mercy for all mankind, Jesus suffered until death, leaving us with His abundant
love through His most Sacred Heart. Today, this Sacred Heart is personally inviting you to find the
rest and comfort you so often desire and need. By sharing a few minutes of your day with Him,
through this devotion, a special and memorable opportunity is offered for you to find the peace and
strength that will help you carry your burdens, however overwhelming or trivial to others they may
seem. This devotion will also provide a unique occasion for you to grow spiritually, morally and
intellectually. Softly, He will reveal the secrets of His loving Heart through the silence of your heart.
Luke 12 : 34
A Daily Invitation:
The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus consists of seven consecutive days of short thoughtful
prayers. Each set of prayers contained in this binder is based on a distinct spiritual theme and differ
every day. A contemplative prayer opens the daily devotion and is followed by one or two suggested
readings from the bible. Afterwards, there is a moment of reflection ensued by a meditative prayer of
trust in Jesus – ‘Trust in the Sacred Heart’. One or two ‘Prayer Poems’ chosen by yourself from each
day’s collection of prayers concludes the daily devotion.
Your devotion can also be a source of blessing for others. You may wish to invite family
members or a dear friend to join you so that through the grace of the Holy Spirit they may deepen or
renew their relationship with Jesus.
Matthew 18 : 20
A Peaceful and Inviting Setting:
As Jesus is gently inviting you to pray and meditate His Sacred Heart, it is important that you
welcome Him into your home, as you would graciously greet a family member or a special friend.
Preparing a calm and comfortable setting will create a receptive ambiance. You may wish to do so
by choosing a special room which could include a table covered with a white cloth, a lit candle, your
bible, and perhaps some flowers. The picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus resting on the easel,
provided with this devotion, should serve as a centerpiece to your setting as it will give you a greater
sense of His presence while contributing to a blessed and peaceful experience.
John 10: 27 – 30
A Welcoming Prayer:
To better prepare yourself to greet Him in your heart on the first day, you may wish to recite
the Apostle Creed followed by our Father, one Hail Mary and the Glory Be. The welcoming prayer
below can also be said before beginning your devotion.
Others Are Also Longing To Spend Time With The Sacred Heart of Jesus:
Once you have completed your seven-day devotion, we ask that you promptly return the
binder along with the picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the easel to the office. If you are
unable to do so, at your very earliest convenience, please inform the personnel at the office as
others are also longing to spend time with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Thank you.
