SPANNING THE GLOBE TO BRING TO YOU… Fun Websites THESE WEBSITES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED BY SCOTT BEGIN FRANCE – On Valentines Day, the single men and women would go into houses that face each other and begin to call out the names of their desired Valentines. If the pair were not in agreement, the man would leave and the woman would attend a bonfire that night where pictures of the denied suitor would be burned . GERMANY – Love is taken to new heights when the lovers exchange baptismal certificates. AUSTRALIA – It is typical to receive glamorous Valentines decked out with flowers, shells and birds. The box it comes in is usually almost as beautiful as the Valentine itself and is typically adorned with intricate details. ENGLAND – The custom was that the first person you saw when you left your house that morning would automatically become your Valentine. If an agreement was reached, they would exchange names on paper strips. The men carried the strips in their hatbands and the women carried them in their bodice. ITALY - Valentines Day is a Spring Festival that is held outdoors where lovers could take in nature as they listened to music or poetry or stroll through gardens. JAPAN – In Japan it is all about the men, of course. It is the women that send candy and flowers to the men in their lives. The men reciprocate on “White Day”. A holiday where men pamper women with candy flowers and marshmallows. SCOTLAND – The Scots also celebrate Valentines Day with a festival. An equal number of men and women write their names down to be chosen as Valentines. The names are tossed into two hats (one for men and one for women) and everyone chooses a name. The man is supposed to stay with the lady who chooses him. (SO DON’T COME CRYING TO ME) Both of these sites are a lot of fun. They are filled with fun and crazy things for your computer.
