We hope the following information will be useful for you.
Inquiry
Our Inquiry this year will be based on Change, Energy and Innovation.
Health / Allergies
We have a number of children in our centre who have a variety of allergies, some which are severe.
These include peanut, dairy/milk, egg, banana and kiwi fruit allergies. Teachers are aware of who
these students are and will be monitoring them. However, we are also encouraging children to wash
their hands before and after eating. Thank you for your understanding.
Clothing / School Hats
With changes in the weather each day it is essential that all children have their clothing clearly
named, especially during our swimming season. Hats are required to be worn during Terms 1 and 4.
We also have a school sports shirt that is great for sporting events and can also be worn on regular
school days. If your child doesn’t have a school hat and/or would like to purchase a school sports
shirt, please pop in to the school office: Hats $20.00 each and Shirts $43.50 each.
Swimming
We are fortunate enough to be able to swim each day. This is part of our P.E./Health programme.
Please ensure your child brings their togs and towel each day. If there is a reason your child cannot
swim, please let your classroom teacher know.
Readers / Library Books
Both readers and library books are an important part of our literacy learning. To protect our valuable
books, book bags must be used to transport them to and from school.
Also, if you find any stray books that have been misplaced, we are very happy to have them back!
PMP / Activate
Each class benefits from this programme involving floor and equipment sessions which help to
develop, build and extend our basic movement skills. Mrs Kirsten Allison, Learning Assistant is
responsible for these sessions. We rely also on parent support for this programme to continue. If you
are able to help, please speak to your child’s teacher.
Home Learning
The purpose of home learning is to practise and maintain key areas of learning. We focus on learning
basic facts, weekly spelling words and vital reading mileage. This should take just 10-15 minutes and
be enjoyable for everyone! We encourage you to read with and to your child often. Your child’s
home book provides lots of relevant information for home activities. Please could you help our
learners remember to bring these to school in their book bags every day, so that we can add new
material. Please also remember to fill out the reading log and sign it.
Thank you for sending your child’s stationery so promptly.
It has been great to meet so many parents and family members already. We look forward to seeing
you at our school “Meet the Teacher / Picnic” evening. Please contact us in person or by email if you
have any questions or concerns.
Regards
Maree, Jacinta, Dianne, Cora, Jenny & Tina
