 The National Assembly of Thailand was established in 1932 after King
Prajadhipok gave Thailand’s first constitution to the people. So, there is his statue
in front of the parliament building.
 In normal situation, The National Assembly of Thailand is bicameral
composed of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
 Now Thailand is under the constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand
(Interim) 2014. We have the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), a unicameral
body.
 The National Legislative Assembly consists of 220 members.
 Two parliamentary supporting units which still function as normally
o The Secretariat of the Senate
o The Secretariat of the House of representative
 The biggest topic that everyone interest is “ to become the ASEAN
Communities”
 The National Assembly library of Thailand is under the Bureau of
Academic Services
 Library Clients: parliamentarians, their assistants, the committee, the
officers of two houses and the general public
 Information resources to support the legislative works in all subjects:
Minutes, Royal Gazettes, Law Books, General Books, Reference Books,
Research/Thesis, Government Publications, Crematory Books, Periodicals, Daily /
Weekly, Newspaper, CD-ROM, Video Tape, Cassette Tape and Map
 Many Databases to support the parliamentary works:
o E-Library Database (Act, Emergency Decree, Royal Decree,
Constitution, Judgment, Regulations, Interpellation, Research / Thesis Abstract,
Parliament’s Research, Library Catalog)
o Online Database (Proquest, Lexis.com, Kasikorn Research)
o News Center (BisNews)
