NEW ZEALAND WOOLHANDLING COUNTRY SPECIFICS 2017 WORLD WOOLHANDLING CHAMPIONSHIP RULES This document, in conjunction with the Golden Shears World Championship Regulations (REGS) and World Woolhandling Championship Rules (WWCR), will serve as the official world woolhandling rules for World Champs 2017 World Woolhandling Rules Country Specifics 2017 KEY PARAMETERS REPORT (As required under the World Woolhandling Championship Rules 2004) Woolhandling Facilities Compliant with World Woolhandling Rules Woolhandling Equipment Compliant with World Woolhandling Rules Timing system Compliant with World Woolhandling Rules Scoring system Compliant with World Woolhandling Rules, with for the following explanations 1. TIME PENALTIES (WWCR 4.4) a. The time penalty calculation will be that once the hand is raised as a sign of finish, there will be one penalty point every five seconds up to the sealed time, then one penalty point per second after that. b. Sealed Time is a fixed period of time to complete a heat/semi/final, and is considered to be achievable, but challenging. The Referee will confirm the sealed time. c. Although we are nominating the Sealed Time in this document, the Referee has the right to adjust these times prior to the start of the Championship. This will be confirmed following an assessment of the condition of the competition sheep and fleeces. This needs to be done closer to the actual time. Confirmation of the Sealed Time will be posted on the official noticeboard in the stadium on day 1 of the Championships. It is the responsibility of Managers to seek this confirmation. FULL WOOL: sealed time of ninety seconds One penalty point every five seconds for the ninety seconds sealed time, then one penalty point per second after that. SHORT WOOLS: sealed time of thirty seconds One penalty point every five seconds for the thirty seconds sealed time, then one penalty point per second after that. MULTI WOOLS: sealed time will be according to the last wool type shorn. i.e. Full wool ninety seconds, short wools thirty seconds. 2. COMPETITOR SCORE CARD (WWCR 4.2) In regard to international non-English speaking judges, Golden Shears reserves the right to use hard copy individual competitor scorecards if deemed necessary by the Referee. This has been proven to be an effective communication tool with large numbers of non-English speaking judges. Length commonly between 4 - 8 inches.
