Prime Time News February 2016 Volume 3, Issue 2 A NOTE FROM PASTOR DIXIE Dear Friends, This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12 You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you, So do not fear, for I am with you. Isaiah 41:9 As I pray and focus on what to share this month a song continues to come to mind. “Such love, such wondrous love.” I can’t help but sense the love God has for me by sending His Son. Praise God! “You are God’s child. He likes listening to the sound of your voice. Your heart and His are always in touch. There are no laws or human barriers that can keep you from your Father’s presence- - - no darkness that can hide His face- - - no burden that can diminish his power- - no trial that can quench His love.” Do you believe this? If so, are you living your life filled with His great love for you? I think, often we doubt His love or go about our busy lives and don’t think about how much He loves each of us. Perhaps this month is a good time to stop and intentionally thank Him for His great love. I encourage you to focus on Him and count your blessings. Wake up and look around you. For one, you live in a beautiful mountain community and belong to a wonderful church family. For those of you who receive this and live elsewhere– look around you! At our last MOPS meeting I shared a DVD about “Loving People Abundantly” by Bob Goff. He gave some great insights on how we perceive others. Instead of holding people accountable, praise them for what they are doing and what potential you see in them. This is how Jesus lived among his disciples. And in turn, they were drawn to him. If we understand that every one is God’s creation, then should we not love them as He loves them? Think what a difference each of could make in the world in which we live. Instead of critical and judgmental spirits we would have Christ-centered love for each one. My prayer for each of us is that we can be transformed by the renewing of our hearts and minds. You are a blessing! I LOVE YOU Isaiah 46:4 It’s wondrous what a hug can do. A hug can cheer you when you’re blue. A hug can say I love you so, or I sure hate to see you go. A hug is welcome back again, and great to see you– where have you been? A hug can smooth a Food for Thought small child’s pain and bring a rainbow after rain. The hug– there’s no doubt about it, we scarcely could survive without it. A hug delights , warms and charms. It must be why God gave us arms. Hugs are great for fathers and mothers, sweet for sisters and swell for brothers. A hug can break the language barrier. No need to fret about where to store them. The more you give the more is of them. So stretch those arms and hug today! Here is chocolate and 6 million dollars.” Volume 3, Issue 2 Page 3 Reflection: “Loving God With Your Mind” by David Busic One day Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment in the law. He began with, “Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37) Why would Jesus highlight using the mind as a way to love God? He knew that when you capture a person’s heart you have devotion, but when you transform his or her mind you have the necessary knowledge and wisdom to direct that devotion. When we give our minds to God, He changes the way we think. God forms in us the mind of Christ so that we can know and do His will. Loving God with our minds is an act of worship. How do we love with our minds? We love God with our minds when we have a teachable spirit. A person with a teachable spirit acknowledges that God created us with both the potential and the need for growth. Being teachable is the opposite of being narrow-minded. It is admitting to yourself and to others that you do not have all the answers, and then humbly placing yourself in a position to gain new perspective and understanding. Have you noticed that the wisest people are often the most humble? (excerpt from Holiness Today, Summer 2014) JESUS SIGHTINGS The majestic views! Shirley Briss is doing well.
