Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain goes to meet with German

August-‐September 1938 Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain goes to meet with German Chancellor
Adolf Hitler in an attempt to negotiate an end to German expansionist
policies. They sign an agreement and Chamberlain famously waves the
signed agreement as he disembarks from his aircraft after landing back in
England and then gives his infamous “Peace in our Time” speech. The
Munich Agreement permitted Nazi Germany's annexation of portions of
Czechoslovakia along the country's borders mainly inhabited by German
speakers, for which a new territorial designation "Sudetenland" was
coined.
