In an effort to afford our staff an opportunity to participate in collaborative, professional planning, the instructional day for students will begin at 8:30 AM rather than 8 AM on Wednesdays throughout the school year beginning September 2, 2015. This adjustment in start time will not change the pick‐up/drop off time for our bus routes and car riders may elect to arrive at their normal time. Breakfast will be served at its normal time and students who arrive on campus prior to 8:30 AM on Wednesdays will convene in the commons area until the start of first period. One to One Initiative Attached to this E‐news are two forms: one detailing the $25 UCPS Technology Fee and the 1:1 Student/Parent Agreement form for your student to receive a Chromebook. Beginning at lunch on September 2, students who have submitted their agreement form and paid their technology fee may pick up their laptop device from the media center. Students may continue to turn in forms and pick up laptops during lunch after distribution begins. Students are reminded of the following: Do not put stickers of any kind on the Chromebook and do not peel any labels off the Chromebook or charger. This includes student name labels and barcodes put on by the school staff. The serial number of each piece of equipment can be traced back to each student so they should never put on or take off a label or sticker. Students should bring their Chromebook and charger to school each day. There are no loaner chargers students can borrow at school. Also, students are not guaranteed to get a loaner laptop should they leave their device at home. Students may have to pay for accidental or intentional damages to their Chromebook. If students should encounter problems with their Chromebooks they may see our technology engineer, Mr. Gemetrius McNeil, before or after school or during their lunch. Mr. McNeil’s office is adjacent to the media center and he may be contacted at [email protected].
