Located in an attractive, competitive environment, this new Convention Centre includes a 20,000 sqm space that is both flexible and functional, is bristling with the latest generation equipment and facilities, and is carefully designed to meet the most demanding requirements. Right in the metropolitan heart of the Sillon Lorrain, or the Lorraine “corridor”, Grand Nancy is located on a major European crossroads. It forms part of the SaarLorLux “Euroregion” of five regional authorities in four different European states. This makes the Centre Prouvé easily accessible from Germany, Luxemburg and Belgium. Half of the 3000 rooms are located right in the city centre. Grand Nancy region is an area where the wide range of hotel accommodation – mainly 3* and 4* – is proving increasingly attractive. Factors such as quality, cultural hot spots and easy accessibility explain the boom in hotel bookings since the mid-2000s. With same-level access, the building can naturally accommodate all types of attendees. It is easy to get around: there are six lifts, one of which provides direct access to the panoramic reception area; and three escalators, one of which goes straight to the floors with the breakout rooms. Rising to a height of 21 metres, its design and the spectacular view it offers over the City of Nancy make it a fantastic choice for organisers of lunches or prestigious gala dinners within event packages. The four catering areas - which can operate independently – offer a wide choice. Quality for every occasion. The Centre Prouvé’s architects Marc Barani and Christophe Presle have used the scale of the existing site and retained the exceptional floor-to-ceiling heights: 7 m on the first three floors and 6.50 m on the fourth floor. These impressive open spaces continue into the auditoriums, where the capacity, stages and foyers offer multiple possibilities in terms of lay-out and interaction. building, the breakout rooms, designed as different modules within the spacious settings, have been designed to let in maximum daylight. In paying homage to Jean Prouvé, Nancy’s internationally renowned architect and designer, the new Grand Nancy Convention Centre promises to be functional, elegant and innovative. The Centre Prouvé is beautifully transparent, showcasing the simple, noble materials of concrete and glass. Inside this functional, open and interactive 10 The Centre Jean Prouvé’s technological and multimedia facilities will enhance every event while encouraging and capturing public interaction. The 850- and 300-seat auditoriums can be fitted with scenery, since their wide stages are on a level with the bottom seating tiers and are served by goods lifts. The stage in the large auditorium, with 5.3t lifting capacity and a surface area of 290 sqm, is big enough to take a saloon car. The spaces have been designed to ensure they can satisfy the most ambitious of projects. On the ground floor, an exhibition hall can host trade fairs and exhibitions over a total surface area of 3,000 sqm which can be partitioned into 600, 1200 or 2,400 sqm. 11 Eco credentials The new Convention Centre combines design elegance with adherence to environmental requirements. The roof is fitted with 1,000 sqm of solar panels, so the building meets France’s “High Environmental Quality” standards. The Centre Prouvé’s teams have also been trained to adopt an environmentally responsible attitude from start to finish in the event process. The whole complex has signed up to a policy of sustainable development and aims to expand the green spaces so it evolves into a really special environment. This is why it was awarded the title of “EcoQuartier” by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Accommodation in 2009. 12 Grand Nancy: an attractive and dynamic environment The Centre Prouvé is located in a financially competitive area where there are 36,000 businesses and a pool of 215,000 jobs. Grand Nancy, which is currently France’s fifth financial centre, is home to many major international groups (Saint-Gobain PAM, Daum, Novasep, Fives Nordon, Welcoop etc). As a result of its new business support network, Grand Nancy also has a remarkably high rate of start-ups. These are most evident in the health, imaging, chemistry, materials, computing, ICT and high-tech sectors. Art Nouveau has had a major impact on Nancy’s architecture and people (Gallé, Prouvé, Majorelle, Vallin, etc.), while the globally renowned DAUM crystal factory continues to astonish with the dazzling beauty of its crystal creations.
