The Living Heritage of John Locke and his Colleagues

55th Historia Medica
John Locke is well known as an enlightenment philosopher whose work founded the
anglophone empiricist movement. Dr. Lefrak will discuss his less known but just as important
contributions as a physician especially to the practice of clinical medicine and demonstrate
how Locke's medical background formed the foundation for his philosophy. His life and work
will be put into historical context with his medical and scientific colleagues as well as a Whig
political activist in the Glorious Revolution of 1689.
