Thinking About Improving Your Financial
Wellness? Take Note of These Financial Tips!
START WITH A BUDGET: Create a clearly defined budget that accounts for all
of your income and expenses, AND allows for a dedicated monthly savings goal.
RID YOURSELF OF THE EXPENSIVE DEBT: Take a look at your total debt and begin paying
down high interest credit cards first, then work your way down the list.
DIVIDE UNEXPECTED INCOME: Divide any new income (gift, bonus, tax refund) into
thirds and put 1/3 toward debt, 1/3 into savings and 1/3 toward a personal or home
expense.
EMERGENCY FUND: Be prepared for life’s little (or big) incidents
by setting aside a separate fund.
SHOP SMARTER: Always compare prices to find the best deal,
and be sure to look for coupons.
WEEKLY CASH ALLOWANCE: Stick to a budgeted, weekly cash
allowance to help control spending.
EAT OUT LESS: You can cook a fantastic meal for half the cost
of eating out.
DIY: When possible, do it yourself. From simple home repairs to crafting gifts, DIY saves
money.
EXERCISE: Exercising regularly has health benefits, including reduced health expenses.
FIND MOTIVATION: Share your saving goals with loved ones and friends to stay on track.

GAP Protection Is?
PROTECT YOUR MONEY AND IDENTITY: Keep accounts safe by using secure passwords
and reviewing your transactions and credit report every year.
STAY FOCUSED: Keep your goals simple yet specific so you can stay focused.
SAVINGS ACCOUNT: Prepare for the future with a regular savings
account, IRA, 401(k) or other designated account.

auto and homeowners insurance.
EVALUATE YOUR SPENDING: Review what you spend on Internet,
cell phones and cable, and find ways to reduce the total expense.
USE ATMS WISELY: Limit your cash withdrawals to our SurF ATM
network to eliminate withdrawal fees charged at non-SurF ATMs.
Beware of Card Skimmers!
How to Protect Yourself from ATM Skimmers
GAP Protection coverage is designed to
cover the gap between your car’s value (as
determined by the insurance company)
and your car loan balance. GAP Protection
is an optional coverage for newer cars that
can be added to your loan. It may pay
the difference between the balance of a
lease or loan due on a vehicle and what
your insurance company pays if the car is
considered a covered total loss. Without
proper coverage, the gap between what
you’ve paid and what you owe can be
substantial.
When you travel, it’s hard to beat the convenience of being able to use your credit or debit card
at an ATM wherever you are – worldwide – for quick, easy access to cash. However, whether
you’re just down the street or in another country, it pays to be aware that skimming devices
could be a threat. Thieves sometimes install high-tech devices called skimmers on ATMs to
capture account information and steal money. Skimmers read information from a credit or debit
card’s magnetic stripe when the card is swiped. Sometimes, a tiny camera is hidden nearby to
capture the PIN. ATMs in high-traffic areas such as airports, gas stations and convenience stores
are most vulnerable to these devices, which are usually left in place for just a short time.
Tips to Avoid Being Skimmed and Scammed
• Inspect the card reader at the ATM or gas pump before using it. Look for anything that’s
loose, crooked or damaged. Adhesive tape residue or scratches can also indicate the card reader has been compromised.
• Be especially careful of ATMs in tourist areas. They are a popular target for skimmers.
• Block the keypad with your other hand when entering your PIN so any hidden cameras can’t record it.
