Singing: Be prepared to sing a song. The director would prefer a song from Into the Woods but any song will do. There are no pop or rock songs in this musical, so keep that in mind. You won’t have to sing the whole song due to time constraints. Dancing: You will learn a short dance combination which you will perform in groups. Wear clothes and shoes that you can dance in (no short skirts, UGG boots, sandals or open-‐toe shoes). Call backs: If you get a call back, it means that either the Director or Musical Director wishes to see you again. They may be considering you for a certain role or simply feel they didn’t get a good idea of your abilities during auditions. If you don’t get a call back, it does not mean that you don’t get a part in the musical. Everyone who wishes to participate in the play will be cast. Characters-‐ -‐ These are for reference only. They may be combined or divided based on cast needs. Actors and the audience will reacquaint themselves with the stories with which they've grown up and the ethical issues raised therein. An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-‐thirsty Little Red Riding Hood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in this fractured fairy tale and all of them have wishes. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one who climbed the beanstalk). The plot has many twists and turns –some scenes are touching and others hilarious. In the end, the wishes are all granted. Everyone but the Witch and the stepsisters congratulate themselves on being able to live happily ever. But, does anyone really ever live happily forever???? Once we receive the scripts, audition monologues or dialogues will be distributed.
